Log arch - first use

Just finished making a Log Arch. This is my first attempt at welding. The welds aren't pretty, but they're functional. This makes hauling logs around so much easier!

Neat to see another method of getting firewood out of the woods. I've been just bucking the logs right where they lay, using a $40 pickaroon to bring the rounds out to the nearest trail on my property, then hauling with a little dump cart back to my splitter.

Thanks… but I do the same as you for firewood. These logs are for lumber. I use the log arch to keep sand and dirt off the logs and to keep from tearing up my property.

cool! Quick upgrade suggestion- weld a 30" section of chain where you use the tie down strap and a hook on the opposite side so once you lift the log, the chain drops down and all you have to do is hook it on the other side

Now instead of bending to try and find the chain, take a piece of wire and push it from one side under the log, then hook the chain onto the tip of the wire and then pull the wire and chain from underneath the log. Now you can easily unhook the chain from the wire without bending down. I like the way you think.

Best thing go to junk yard and remove rear wheel bearing unit that bolts in . bolt to metal plate and use the car tires as and rims

Just extend it out and put another set of tires on and you could haul 5-6 logs out instead of one at a time. Like a small trailer. Just a thought.

Gawd I remember huffin logs all day all summer up hills down hills. Logs that were way too big for me and my brother to be safely handling. Ruined my shoulders and back even before i was 13. But it was either that or freeze to death in the winter.
