Logan was dying of Adamantium poisoning because of the fact that his healing abilities were diminished. He'd been poisoned by the Adamantium all along, but when his healing factor was stronger, it could protect him from it. Some people speculate that his powers diminished with age, others that the GMO food the Doctor created to suppress mutant genes, might have been the cause. The clone, X-24 was an imperfect clone according to director, James Mangold. He healed smaller injuries quickly, but when he was impaled on that farm equipment, he needed that injection to handle all those major wounds. They also used a much thinner coating of Adamantium on his bones, which is why the bullet was able to blow apart so much of his skull. When Charles said that he remembered what happened in Westchester. He was saying that he finally remembered that he'd had one of his seizures and killed all of the other X-Men.

While it’s a bit 🙄 to see this same comment copy and pasted on EVERY SINGLE LOGAN REACTION, it’s still true.
@nilesstark3 ай бұрын
Fun Fact: During a Q&A for this, James Mangold was asked if this film was inspired by the game the Last of Us. James had never heard of it, so he went out and played the game and now when people ask him if he would ever direct the Last of Us, he basically says he did that with this.
@koldsteel19044 ай бұрын
Logan was Weapon X (X=10 in roman numerals). Meaning he was the 10th experiment. Weapon I (1) was actually Captain America! Basically, there was 9 other experiments before Wolverine. X-23 was based off of Weapon X (Wolverine), X-23 means that she was the 23rd attempt at cloning Wolverine. The previous 22 experiments failed because of the extra chromosome it takes for men (XY). So, they tried using just the XX chromosome and created X23. X24 is the 24th attempt, and it was successful. So therefore, you have a younger looking Wolverine.
@chet86824 ай бұрын
just curious cause my comic book knowledge is very limited. Would the winder soldier factor in as one of the experiments as well??
@koldsteel19044 ай бұрын
@chet8682 the winter soldier took the same serum as captain America. Captain America is weapon I...so winter soldier would be Weapon I-2, because he would be the 2nd one to take it.

Its sad, if they can't find a way to stop the metal poisoning, Laura will be exactly like James is in this movie in about 200 years or so.
@ianjardine73244 ай бұрын
They know how to stop the poisoning it was the chemical's the government had added to food and drink that suppressed Logan's healing powers enough that he aged and he could no longer resist Adimantium poisoning. As long as Laura can avoid processed foods she'll be as powerful as her father ever was. Those same chemical's contributed to Charles's losing control of his mind as well and may well have caused his dementia. It's when the doctor reveals that during his monologue to Logan that Logan snaps and just shoots him because he's just admitted to wiping out all the X men including Wolverine because Logan knows he can't recover at this point.
@john992184 ай бұрын
Actually x-23 doesn't have Adamantium on her skeleton, only her claws. They couldn't coat her bones as she hasn't finished growing yet. In such a senerio the Adamantium would win and kill her.
@ericules55584 ай бұрын
True It's not fused to her skeleton and no where near as much, but she has enough on her hand claws and foot blade to still cause poisoning over time.
@noirangel64164 ай бұрын
@@ericules5558Its likely the lower level of adamantium in her body mixed with her advanced regeneration (even compared to Logans) will balance things out, making her poisoning much far lower than what Logan had.
@chet86824 ай бұрын
I always wondered how much she had inside her for that reason. I was wondering if her skeleton was just coated in parts, allowing it to still grow as she got older. but just doing the claws makes more sense

Logan and X-Men Days of Future Past are among the Top 5 superhero movies ever made. This is the 2nd time ive had to watch Prof X die and this time, its like my worst nightmare. Logan is the most raw, realistic and painful comic book movie imaginable
@john992184 ай бұрын
FYI: X-23 dosen't have her bones coated with Adamantium. They couldn't do that until she stopped growing --- for obvious reasons. She does have Adamantium on her claws because claws grow from a base outwards and there are no conflicting growth patterns to consider. So X-23 isn't as heavy as Logan (for more than one reason) and can do really neat gymnastical stuff. She is however more fragile than Logan, as her bones could get broken. Logan is stronger and heavier and more durable. Originally x-23 (Laura) had three bone claws just like Logan BUT when they went to put adamantium on her claws they thought 'y'know it would be better to put one of each in a foot like a velociraptor'. And Zander Rice said "Yeah, velociraptors are neat".

I love how most peoples first reactions are how sad and or depressing this move starts off, but for anyone who has ever read comics, this is just reality. The best stories at there core are meant to show the human experience, and that includes the good and the bad. I'm 52 years old, and I first started losing loved ones in my late teens, and in more recent times, that reality has accelerated. This movie is nothing more than a reflection of life and what becomes of it over time, it is just told through the lens of a character that happens to be a super hero, and just like reality, most of us just don't get happy endings. That is why the movie was so epic, as it held nothing back and was all the better for it.

Hiya great reaction to an amazing film , love all your observations , predictions and looks of shock and surprise . And what an amazing movie you are reacting to , I absolutely love Logan it was so so fantastic and was what all the comic fans have been clamouring for for years that Logan goes full berserker on bad guys and really messes them up but obviously the X Men movies not being R rated they could not go there , so we finally got there . Logan is so fantastically well made and so heart-breaking at the same time , Laura's line at the end " Daddy " Has me in bits every time ( I'm tearing up right now at your reaction ) and of course Charles demise is so tragic especially as you really hope he realises it was not Logan but was X 24 ( Evil Wolverine clone ) who kills him . ( I love X 24s look , obviously a younger Wolverine who they made look so different ) .And of course the very tragic end that the Munson family meet was so brutal too . The choice to make the violence so brutal and horrifying was so correct when Logan uses his claws it looks exactly as it should painful and traumatic , if this was not R rated it would have been such a cop out and watered down . Every one in this gives it there all Hugh and Patrick are as great as always even when playing a very different broken Logan and Charles , but Dafne Keen as Laura ( X 23 in the comics ) was amazing she was so charismatic , brutal and savage , all the supporting cast were great too Stephen Merchant as Caliban was great and had so many great scenes with Logan and funny lines too , Boyd Holbrook and Richard E Grant ( Classic Loki from Loki ) are great as the bad guys very boo hiss and despicable . Sometimes these Superhero movies can be a lot more personal and human and it does not always have to be about saving the Earth or the Universe , which Logan does so well a smaller personnel story can be just as powerful . Love the effect of Charles seizures and the little touch of having the X Men comics in the movie . I think it is the Adamantium laced to Logans bones and his claws in the not so great Wolverine Origins movie that has been leaking into his bloodstream that is poisoning Logan and the reason he looks so rough and that he does not heal like before . The look , tone and feel is so different but so great and has more the feel of a Western than your classic X Men movie , Logan is very loosely based on a story in the Wolverine comic from 2008 called Old Man Logan which ran for 8 issues and is set on an alternate Earth where Logan has given up the Hero life after he was tricked by the Spider-Man Villain Mysterio into slaughtering all the X Men , Logan is now a farmer with a family when an aged blind Clint Barton ( Hawkeye ) offers him a road trip to deliver a package across America which is now controlled by all the Villains after a lot of the Heroes have been wiped out , Logan is paying protecting money to the Hulk Gang inbred descendants of Bruce Banner who run that district . Logan and Clint have many adventures travelling across many territories controlled by the Villain's , after getting paid and beating Red Skull Logan returns home to find to his horror that Hulk Gang visited his farm a day early after their money and murdered his Family , Logan then hunts the Hulk Gang down and slaughters them all very brutally , he then adopts a baby Hulk and they ride of into the sunset , Old Man Logan was written Mark Millar and is traditional Miller story very violent , brutal and twisted . In my opinion after X Men Days of Future past and then Logan all the other X Men or X related movies , X Men Apocalypse , Dark Phoenix and New Mutants were very disappointing and signalled the end of the franchise they really should have ended with Logan instead of releasing the very poor New Mutants , Logan was a fantastic way to say good bye to Logan , Charles and Hugh and Patrick and a good way to say good bye to the franchise but it was not to be and now Wolverine is in Deadpool 3 which I believe is an alternate universe of Wolverine , whoever takes the role of Wolverine in the MCU has got very big boots to fill . Logan is easily the very best of the Wolverine solo movies and maybe the best of the X Men franchise but I still really love X2 probably because you have all the other characters in it too . Heard a funny story about Hugh and Dafne filming the scene when Logan tells Laura to shut the f**k up and Laura starts shouting at him in Spanish , Hugh went up to Dafne's Mum who was there as Dafne was 12 when they filmed Logan and Hugh apologised for swearing at her Daughter and Dafne's Mum said that's OK she just called you a c**t in Spanish . Another point is the bad guys goons , all the soldiers with the Cybernetic arms etc are the Reavers , who in the comics were Hellfire Club Guards whom Wolverine sliced and diced a load of them and severely injured them when the X Men sneaked into the Hellfire Club in an early 80s X Men issue , later they were saved by replacing their limbs etc with Cybernetic parts and became The Reavers who later on ambush Wolverine and crucify him as revenge . Boyd Holbrook plays Donald Pierce in Logan ( Villain with cybernetic hand ) Pierce in the comics is a high up in the Hellfire Club with Sebastian Shaw as Leader who is also wounded by Wolverine and becomes a Cyborg and leads the Reavers against Wolverine and the X Men for many years and is a major thorn in their side .

They never said who the boy Rictor, was talking to on the radio. But fans have speculated that it may have been a member of Alpha Flight, who are the Canadian equivalent of the X-Men in the comics. Even with the GMO foods suppressing new mutants, the original Alpha Flight members would have still been alive in that time.

45:50 the thing is, an adamantium bullet wouldn't really be any more effective than a simple lead bullet through the eyeball, and probably would be even less effective, since it could exit the back, while a lead one would ricochet around inside his skull.
