About Laura's fighting style: she probably learned how to fight in the lab she was raised in, but because she's a little kid she has almost no body mass. Notice that Logan throws his opponents around because he's a lot bigger than she is, but Laura throws herself around like an acrobat.
@stefanhuddleston6816

It's also possible that Laura "learned" to fight in the same way animals do, through instinct and a sense of survival. Many people always think characters need to "learn" to fight from someone else, but think about it, someone had to be be the first to develop formal fighting styles--who did those in the distant past before there were styles learn from? Most likely they watched animal fightingand emulated what they did as best they could an honed their skills over time.

Logan was dying of Adamantium poisoning because of the fact that his healing abilities were diminished. He'd been poisoned by the Adamantium all along, but when his healing factor was stronger, it could protect him from it. Some people speculate that his powers diminished with age, others that the GMO food the Doctor created to suppress mutant genes, might have been the cause. The clone, X-24 was an imperfect clone according to director, James Mangold. He healed smaller injuries quickly, but when he was impaled on that farm equipment, he needed that injection to handle all those major wounds. They also used a much thinner coating of Adamantium on his bones, which is why the bullet was able to blow apart so much of his skull. When Charles said that he remembered what happened in Westchester. He was saying that he finally remembered that he'd had one of his seizures and killed all of the other X-Men.

I loved the movie but I really dislike how they use Adamantium. Some times its indestructible, other times wood will go right through it. That's not how metal works. Like the Adamantium bullet should just deflect off his skull and not deform causing a concussion at best. Regardless of how "thick or thin" the coating is, indestructible should mean indestructible otherwise its pointless to graft it on to a skeleton since you would need to re-apply. Just a nitpick but it does take me out of the movie at points :(

@@nimz8521- Adamantium is not stronger than itself. Just like in the real world where hey use diamonds to grind diamonds. An adamantium bullet would possibly penetrate, depending on how thick the target is, and how fast it’s moving. Lead bullets moving fast enough will penetrate steel, which is definitely harder than lead.

Yes. I'm sure that's what he meant: you still have to live with it. Though... it's also valid to say that killing is killing... and, realistically, there's no such thing as "good people" and "bad people" and "innocent people" anyway... free will is an illusion. Everyone's choices make sense to them and are the only ones they are capable of making in the moment.

They wanted to have a cameo with Logan's half brother Sabertooth. But actor Liev Schreiber wasn't available due to scheduling conflicts. They never said who the boy Rictor, was talking to on the radio. But fans have speculated that it may have been a member of Alpha Flight, who are the Canadian equivalent of the X-Men in the comics. Even with the GMO foods suppressing new mutants, the original Alpha Flight members would have still been alive in that time.

I find the GMO food explanation for why mutants went extinct to be really chilling, and extremely clever. If it's also responsible for mutants losing their powers, then it basically means Logan and Charles and the X-Men would've been basically invincible, save for the relatively mundane evil of modifying the food supply. Slow, gradual culling of mutants they'd never see coming. Horrifying, when you think about it.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in one of the early scenes had to react harshly to Laura (Dafne Keen), and he was quite worried about treating an 11-year-old that way. Her mother, who was on the set looking after her daughter, cheerfully replied "That's okay, she just called you a c**t in Spanish." Also they were worried about exposing her to all the violent acts she had to perform killing all the soldiers, but she enjoyed it so much they had a hard time getting her to stop.

"Right or wrong, it's a brand. A brand that sticks." Logan is Shane, with both characters knowing killing leaves a stain on your soul whether the people you kill are good or bad. Laura's reading at his grave is a perfect goodbye to a character that lived his entire life as a soldier. Dang near a perfect film.

I did want to point out that the composer for Logan was Marco Beltrami who also did the soundtrack for the first Quiet Place movie. He always does a great job with creating an emotional grounded piece of music for something so grounded, depressing, and dramatic. Also, that actress for Laura did such a great job, she and Hugh Jackman did so well together.

I'm not sure why you've avoided the Deadpool movies, but you're in the perfect position to watch 1 and 2 has a massive Logan spoiler, so you're good on that. I've heard people say that Ryan Reynolds wasn't their cup of tea, and I get that. It is absolutely Ryan Reynolds IS Deadpool, no denying it, but if you've seen X-Men Origins: Wolverine, understand that this was Ryan's redemption, for how poorly the character was represented in that movie. He used every bit of clout he could muster to get Deadpool made right, and it paid off big time. I really think you should reconsider watching it.

When Logan talked with X-23 about killing bad people: "It's all the same" wasn't talking about the morality of it, but rather... it's affect on you. The film she quotes that they watched earlier is Shane (1953). In the film a world weary gunslinger trying to escape his past helps a widow and her young son defend their home from men who want to take her land. The story seems cliché today but Shane was one of the early films to introduce that trope. In the film the son idolizes Shane's life as a gunslinger while Shane tries to discourage the boy from a life of violence. Shane gives the speech Laura quotes, after the final fight, severely wounded he rides into the sunset while slumped over in his saddle. To this day film scholars debate whether or not he dies as he ride off. So that scene she quotes has a much deeper relevance if you know the details of Shane.

‘Logan’ belongs to a subgenre of the western known as the neowestern genre. Neowesterns are essentially westerns set in a more contemporary (post industrialization) and often more urban setting. Like traditional westerns they’re often set in the American south-west and feature a lot of the same rugged and reluctant gunslinger archetypes while exploring themes of regret and redemption while introducing many of the anxieties of contemporary life thrown in. ‘Logan’ also has a dash of cyberpunk genre elements as we see a society in decline with a relationship with technology that outpaces morality. The films ‘The Getaway’ (1972), ‘The Way of the Gun’, ‘No Country for Old Men’, ‘Sicario’, ‘Hell or High Water’ and ‘Wind River’ are a few examples of the the neowestern subgenre.

*Everyone* knew the happy moment would be ruined. The most obvious plot point... yet still the best X-Men movie. In the comics, if there is the slightest scrap of flesh left, it will regenerate. But live action superhero movies try to be more realistic, so it makes sense that Logan's mutation is giving up the ghost after decades of fighting the metal poisoning. That said, the movies blame an adamantium bullet in Logan's head for his amnesia (instead of the metal bonding procedure itself), his brain just healed around it. Blowing X-24's brains out might force him to wear a hat for the rest of his life, but his brain should still regenerate. But I'm willing to overlook the disparity to see him dead.

Logan is probably the most raw, real and painful superhero movie that will ever be made. That is definitely not a detriment. Logan ranks up there with X-Men Days of Future Past as one of the top five best superhero films ever made. It's a real shame that Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart werent nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars. Hugh proved that he is irreplaceable as Wolverine/ Logan. Hes better in Logan than he was in Les Miserable or Prisoners. This is basically Unforgiven for Hugh Jackman. And Patrick Stewart is not only phenomenal as Prof X but as a man suffering from Alzheimers as well.

Hiya great reaction to an amazing film , love all your observations , predictions and looks of shock and surprise . And what an amazing movie you are reacting to , I absolutely love Logan it was so so fantastic and was what all the comic fans have been clamouring for for years that Logan goes full berserker on bad guys and really messes them up but obviously the X Men movies not being R rated they could not go there , so we finally got there . Logan is so fantastically well made and so heart-breaking at the same time , Laura's line at the end " Daddy " Has me in bits every time ( I'm tearing up right now at your reaction ) and of course Charles demise is so tragic especially as you really hope he realises it was not Logan but was X 24 ( Evil Wolverine clone ) who kills him . ( I love X 24s look , obviously a younger Wolverine who they made look so different ) .And of course the very tragic end that the Munson family meet was so brutal too . The choice to make the violence so brutal and horrifying was so correct when Logan uses his claws it looks exactly as it should painful and traumatic , if this was not R rated it would have been such a cop out and watered down . Every one in this gives it there all Hugh and Patrick are as great as always even when playing a very different broken Logan and Charles , but Dafne Keen as Laura ( X 23 in the comics ) was amazing she was so charismatic , brutal and savage , all the supporting cast were great too Stephen Merchant as Caliban was great and had so many great scenes with Logan and funny lines too , Boyd Holbrook and Richard E Grant ( Classic Loki from Loki ) are great as the bad guys very boo hiss and despicable . Sometimes these Superhero movies can be a lot more personal and human and it does not always have to be about saving the Earth or the Universe , which Logan does so well a smaller personnel story can be just as powerful . Love the effect of Charles seizures and the little touch of having the X Men comics in the movie . I think it is the Adamantium laced to Logans bones and his claws in the not so great Wolverine Origins movie that has been leaking into his bloodstream that is poisoning Logan and the reason he looks so rough and that he does not heal like before . The look , tone and feel is so different but so great and has more the feel of a Western than your classic X Men movie , Logan is very loosely based on a story in the Wolverine comic from 2008 called Old Man Logan which ran for 8 issues and is set on an alternate Earth where Logan has given up the Hero life after he was tricked by the Spider-Man Villain Mysterio into slaughtering all the X Men , Logan is now a farmer with a family when an aged blind Clint Barton ( Hawkeye ) offers him a road trip to deliver a package across America which is now controlled by all the Villains after a lot of the Heroes have been wiped out , Logan is paying protecting money to the Hulk Gang inbred descendants of Bruce Banner who run that district . Logan and Clint have many adventures travelling across many territories controlled by the Villain's , after getting paid and beating Red Skull Logan returns home to find to his horror that Hulk Gang visited his farm a day early after their money and murdered his Family , Logan then hunts the Hulk Gang down and slaughters them all very brutally , he then adopts a baby Hulk and they ride of into the sunset , Old Man Logan was written Mark Millar and is traditional Miller story very violent , brutal and twisted . Good catch by the way from The Wolverine when Yukio tells Wolverine he will die on his back with his heart in his hand , holding Laura's hand . In my opinion after X Men Days of Future past and then Logan all the other X Men or X related movies , X Men Apocalypse , Dark Phoenix and New Mutants were very disappointing and signalled the end of the franchise they really should have ended with Logan instead of releasing the very poor New Mutants , Logan was a fantastic way to say good bye to Logan , Charles and Hugh and Patrick and a good way to say good bye to the franchise but it was not to be and now Wolverine is in Deadpool 3 out this year which I believe is an alternate universe of Wolverine , whoever takes the role of Wolverine in the MCU has got very big boots to fill . Logan is easily the very best of the Wolverine solo movies and maybe the best of the X Men franchise but I still really love X2 probably because you have all the other characters in it too . Heard a funny story about Hugh and Dafne filming the scene when Logan tells Laura to shut the f**k up and Laura starts shouting at him in Spanish , Hugh went up to Dafne's Mum who was there as Dafne was 12 when they filmed Logan and Hugh apologised for swearing at her Daughter and Dafne's Mum said that's OK she just called you a c**t in Spanish

This movie is most certainly not an adaptation of "Old Man Logan." The only similarities are that it takes place in the near future and all the X-Men are dead. There are some elements similar to the X-23 comic that first came out in 2005 - namely the cloning of Logan in the lab to make Laura. The whole massacre at the farmhouse would have been avoided if Charles didn't insist on accepting the dinner invitation or the invitation to spend the night. Logan was right - bad things not only happen to people he cares about, but to everyone that happens to be in the area as well. Antisocial paranoia has its virtues.

Logan has little to do witn Old Man Logan other than being about Wolverine when he’s older.

Killing bad people and killing good people IS sort of the same. You have to realize that in real life both sides have a point and it is often impossible to tell the good from the bad, if in fact there is a different. Thus the addage: "Kill em all and let God sort them out." Logan is over a hundred years old. He's been in several wars and conflicts and not always on the good side, which ever side that was. He gave up on such pretty sentiments a long time ago.

People make the mistake of thinking comic books are for children. And they are. They are for teaching children about real life. Which is something most adults try to hide from. Even going so far as to create a fantasy in which, life is all about them. Hence, the Ancient One spoke to Dr. Strange saying; "It's not about you." Now that's, Real!

You don’t need to watch ‘Dark Phoenix’, ever. It’s absolute garbage, just like every other Wolverine film, and most of the other X-Men movies. You can definitely tell that Fox just wanted to throw something out there before Disney bought them, and they didn’t care about the quality of the product.

I agree about the Western influence. Have you reacted to Mangold's adaptation of 3:10 to Yuma?

You’re right not to watch it - Deadpool is one of the most overrated films ever made. It deserves not to be seen.

Well stolen from the last of us. Great movie, but the story is basically the same. Charles killed many mutants in the incident you were talking about. That's why there were no more mutants except Logan.

Similarity doesn’t mean “stolen.” It’s similar to “Shane” as well, which is the movie Charles and Laura watch in the hotel.
