Yeah I think subtitles are definitely the way to go especially when commentating as you might be talking when someone else is talking. With subtitles you can still get that info even if you don't hear it perfectly.

Logan’s real name is James Howlett. He was born in 1832, to a wealthy Canadian family, John and Elizabeth Howlett, however he was actually the illegitimate son of the family gardener, Thomas Logan. That’s why he also goes by Logan. If you look at the dash of his limo, it has a digital version of his chauffeur license showing that lists him as James Howlett. No new mutants being born for 25 years is explained in this movie. The doctor invented gene therapy to prevent new mutants, and it was being distributed using GMO corn in things like corn syrup. Logan is not regenerating because of the adamantium covering his bones. It is poisoning him, and his healing factor has been reduced because it’s been fighting the poison for at least 40 years. Charles is just getting old, (he’s 90), and is suffering from dementia, which affects his ability to control his powers. He lost control 1 year before the events of this movie in Westchester, NY, (where the school was located), and injured 600 people and killed 7 of the X-Men. That’s why Logan is hiding him and trying to keep him away from others. It’s to protect the general population from Charles accidentally killing everyone with his powers.

Logan is not part of a trilogy. It's a stand alone film. It was explained in the film why mutants stopped being born.

I had thought it was part of 3 films that specifically cover Wolverine, and referred it to a trilogy. Looking further it seems some people refer to it as a trilogy? Regardless, It does great as a standalone film.

Logan is the most raw and powerful superhero movie ever made. But i still think Days of Future Past is the most perfectly crafted superhero movie. I think Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart deserved Oscar nominations for Logan. They both gave the best performances of their movie careers. Btw, Logan is sick for several reasons. The bad guys openly admit that they poisoned the water and food supply to kill the mutant gene. Then you also have the adamantium in his body. If his mutant power is weak, he cant regenerate from metal poisoning. This is how i rank the franchise: Top Tier: X-Men Days of Future Past, Logan Excellent: X2, Deadpool, X-Men First Class, Deadpool and Wolverine, X-Men Apocalypse (Yes, i said it) Very Good: X-Men, The Wolverine, Deadpool 2 Good: X-Men 3: First Class Okay: X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men Dark Phoenix Bad: The New Mutants

Nice ranking! I'd say Days of Future Past is up there for me and we both enjoyed the Deadpool movies. A lot of these movies go way back and I've only seen them once so it's hard to remember everything. Logan had a less 'x-men' feel to me which I enjoyed. Thanks for commenting!

Not that I want to spoil for anyone, but I will say... Deadpool and wolverine is modern era in the MCU... Logan was supposed to take place in 2029.

Canonically, I don’t know if theres a definitive answer as to whether this takes place in an alternate universe, but I was always under the impression that it was. Ive always perceived this film as a stand-alone film that doesn’t pull back any punches. It was also supposed to be Hugh Jackmans last film as Wolverine, which now we know it wasnt. Speaking of which, i don’t consider it much of a spoiler but Deadpool and Wolverine starts with a bit about Logan’s death, only to further cement that he did in fact die by showing his skeleton. It was a creative decision as to not tarnish the film. Hugh Jackman does return, but only as a variant within the multiverse.

4:52 -- This is Caliban. He can sense/smell mutants. He was the mutant tracker in "X-Men: Apocalypse". A different actor played him in that movie. 21:13 -- His real name is James Howlett, but he changed it to Logan when and a childhood friend were on the run.

@@OfficialDNJmoviehouse Yeah, Logan has a huge backstory. At some point, he rescues a woman named Rose from being assaulted by a guy named Dog Logan, in the late 1800s. When they're both on the run, she calls him her cousin Logan to hide his identity.

A few things you missed one is Professor X’s mental ability was that he was having a mental seizure and that affects everybody else because he can tap into everybody else’s mind/brain. Also X 23 a.k.a. Laura is a clone of Logan but born as a female and injected with the claws. Wolverine adamantium was poisoning his body so the older he got the less he could regenerate his health ability. Professor X killed all the mutants because of that seizure in the X-Men mansion, so that’s why Professor X believed he didn’t deserve happiness.

I think you've nailed everything we missed LOL. We picked these up while editing, but we wanted to try watching without subtitles and just weren't used to it. It's a crap excuse but it is what it is! Regarding X23 , didn't Logan say it wasn't only his genes while in the Limo?

@@OfficialDNJmoviehouse One correction...memory loss and his dog tags are why he goes by Wolverine. Logan is his actual lineage. It's stated in the comics and alluded to in "X-men Origins Wolverine. The grounds keeper (Thomas Logan) of the Howlett family was having an affair with Mrs. Howlett and is Wolverines real father. In the movie, the keeper shoots the "father" and James impales the Keeper who tells James, "That man was not your father" before dying. So through lineage his name is James Logan. The very first time he and the professor met, the professor not only calls him Logan, but knows his entire backstory.

If you had watched the movie the wolverine, the second in the trilogy, this movie would have made a lot more sense at the end and hit harder. The new mutants, born in twenty five years, was actually explained by the doctor. They genetically manipulated through The food supply to eliminate the x gene.

A lot of differing opinions on this one as we heard from a lot of ppl that treat this movie as a stand-alone movie. I think if we watched this before deadpool 3 was announced it would have for sure hit harder as we would have thought Hugh Jackman stayed retired. Thanks for commenting!

The wolverine in the new Deadpool movie is a variant so he’s not this wolverine from this movie it’s a different one from another universe.

Great reaction ;-) Lil' context for you two. Marvel did the Infinity Saga with Thanos and the Infinity Stones. Right now Marvel is doing the Multiverse Saga which explains being able to pull different characters from different universes over to the MCU. Disney bought 20th Century Fox and all it's catalog. I do believe if I remember correctly they did not buy the Fox News division, they were just interested in the catalog and entertainment divisions. After the Multiverse Saga is over they have said they will be doing the Mutant Saga and fully introducing the X-Men characters into the MCU. Though we may see some characters pop up in movies here and there. Right now they are filming the MCU's version of the Fantastic Four, which was also previously owned my 20th Century Fox. The Deadpool & Wolverine movie is also a Multiverse Saga story. It is also closing the door as the final chapter in the "Foxverse" X-men movies. A Grand Finale so to speak of the Foxverse and a big "Welcome to the MCU." By the way, when Logan turns to Laura right before the final battle starts "Go to your friends. Go. Laura . . . . . you'll know when." Basically saying "wait for my sign, you'll know when." I also watched your reaction to the "Final Trailer" for Deadpool & Wolverine. I believe I can tie Deadpool & Wolverine and this movie Logan together without spoiling it for you two. This movie is sacred and both Shawn and Ryan did not want to take away any of the impact that Logan had on audiences. They wanted to honor what James and Hugh did on Logan. So this Logan is indeed dead. But since this is the Multiverse Saga there are many Wolverine Variants throughout the Multiverse. It is even said in a previous Deadpool & Wolverine trailer "This Wolverine let down his entire world." So The Wolverine in D&W is not this Logan from this movie. But the Laura you see in the "Final Trailer" is indeed Logan's Laura from this movie. I hope this gives you two a little more context of the behind the scenes of how Disney got the Foxverse characters and how D&W starts to introduce those characters to the MCU. I know you said you were all "Marveled Out" and we all can admit that the last couple movies and a few TV shows just didn't "Stick The Landing" when they came out. But the MCU's version of the Fantastic Four is on the way, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are coming in the next couple years. Those are some "All Hands On Deck" movies. Hope you two do a review of D&W if you see it in theaters if not, hopefully a reaction on the channel. Again, great reaction ;-)

I think that by assuming that wolverine is still alive because he is in a future movie with Deadpool spoiled the reaction and the rating of the film. It's not uncommon, I have seen other reactors do the same thing. Don't assume these movies are in chronological order. Remember this movie took place in 2029. This Wolverine is very dead and he ain't coming back. Have you watched the MCU phase 4 which includes the movies and the Television series? Are you familiar with the multiverse and how it works? If not it may have an impact on how you interpret Deadpool 3.

You bring up some good points. We haven't kept up on a lot of Marvel stuff lately. We wanted to watch this movie to 'prepare' for Deadpool 3 because we didn't know who x23 was in the trailer, and we assumed it would be the same Logan. All in all this was still a good movie that we both enjoyed!

I’m going to screw with your thought processes here wolverine is dead and he doesn’t come back not unless someone time travels again. It was the adamant that was killing him. It took a long time because of his mutant region powers. It was slowly over the decades poisoning. I got to the point his powers could no longer regenerating the same way plus you have to remember. He’s an old guy must be about 200 years old and just like an old person your abilities, slow down and eventually stop working.

Sucks, but at least it means the impact of this movie isn't diminished by the new Deapool movie coming out. Someone else mentioned the powers degenerating were also aided by the doctor putting stuff in the food supply. Overall a good movie that we both enjoyed!
