There's some validity to that, but before you make your final judgement, look up what I call the best music video ever made, a scene from the film, "Sun Valley Serenade" with the Glen Miller Orchestra doing an extended version of "Chattanooga Choo Choo" capped by a vocal performance/dance routine featuring the immortal Dorothy Dandridge. It'll wire you up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGPEm2Ownb2fgqM

This is the one. Of all the live renditions of this L & M masterpiece (old and new) this is the one with the tight energy and relaxed pacing of outstanding musicians simply nailing it with joy and precision. The first rhythm section break is a classic study of Stevie D and Shem locked in the pocket. Steve Nieves’ alto solo is simply masterful, precise and on the edge at the same time. Messina’s understated guitar licks are spot on with Jeff Nathanson’s flute work pitch perfect. Gabe Dixon’s subtle and precise keyboards/effects round out a flawless rendition. What a treat.

Everywhere. There is a TON of talent accessible today - more than ever before. The only difference is that you have to seek it out yourself instead of getting it spoon-fed to you by radio and TV. You can find a dozen brand new artists every day if you have the time and an internet connection. I grew up in the 90s, so I also know what it's like to turn on the radio and hear amazing new music all the time. ...but today there is infinitely more music available. Please don't confuse the sad state of _pop music_ with the state of music in general. ..and just for the record, I LOVE Loggins and Messina. My father worked with them quite a bit back in the 80s. Many of my all time favorite musicians were around before I was even born. I 1,000% understand the respect for older music and the frustration with today's pop music. ...but there's more to music than pop. I also can't help but mention that EVERY generation thinks that their music was the last era of good music. I'm sure your parents thought boomer-era music was garbage too. ;)

I saw these two in November 1973 at the old field house at Northern Illinois University. They opened the show sitting on two stools exactly like the one behind Messina here. An acoustic version of House on Pooh Corner. Then they stood up, the curtains opened, lights came up, they grabbed electric guitars and tore into Angry Eyes. About 5,000 students up screaming immediately. It's still great rock 'n roll.

Yes, The original sax player on "Angry Eyes" was Al Garth back in those days. A versatile musician who also played violin and other instruments. He later played with the Dirt Band and the Eagles. Those were the days as you say. We were blessed.

1977,I go into a thrift store Northside Chicago where rich folks lived (better stuff) was told a couples son went off to Stanford. Well they decided to tidy up his room and in the record bins was a brand new, unopened vinyl RUMOURS! Placed it on my old Marantz table, queued it up through a Kenwood kr-2300, and Bose 901's and my life forever changed! (RIP Christine Mc Vie)❤

An extremely underrated duo, an incredibly harmonizing duet, they par and pair up with anyone, anywhere, and anytime. Great band. I have all their albums.

Courageous move, taking on one of the most iconic rock pieces ever...I like your arrangement...Certainly close enough to the original to pay proper omage, but filling the gaps of the differences between a rock ensemble and a solo acoustic...Really well done solo part...Much harder than what page had to do...impeccable fingering (as always)...Great effort...Thanks for sharing...

The saxophone player is possessed by his muse. Excellent playing. He almost stole the show. Jim's solo is one of the tastiest ive rver heard. Perfect performance technically by the crew and kudos to the engineer who recorded and mixed this timeless classic. I cant ask for more.

I heard this song Friday for the first time in more than 30 years when it came in at No. 930-something on the Sirius XM Classic Rewind Top 1000. I'm glad they recognized Loggins and Messina as Classic Rock.

Wow. A big band, all working together as one. Even the soloists are still playing with and reacting to the other musicians. Live music on this level is like magic. Also: props to the drummer back there, playing with subtlety, finesse, intensity and power.

Always liked that song, performed here wonderfully by a smooth, tight band. Kenny has always had stellar vocals, and he hasn't lost a step. Great to see he and Jim back together for this performance.
