It is such a relief to hear you say that your child wasn’t a super fluent reader at 7, but is reading well at age 9. My oldest is 7 and I’m definitely tempted to treat his reading fluency like a race sometimes. 😅 Thank you for giving me a sense of peace!

My next guy is 8. Things are just starting to click, but we haven’t pushed. They will get there. 20 min a day will change things in huge ways within 6 months.

Thank you so much for this. I have 5 kiddos as well and we did Logic of English for my first and I didn’t know what I was going to do with 2 in the program. This explains SOOO MUCH! Thank you.

Thanks for making this video. Great tips! Humming for help remembering the phonograms it’s a good idea. And using the timer instead of trying to finish a lesson. My daughter is an older child using foundations and I’ve been tempted to do essentials with both my older child and my middle to cut my teaching time but she really enjoys the games from foundations so I don’t know if I’ll skip D. Still trying to decide. We do GRH but not really the LA because it jumps around and I do prefer mastery approach. But after hearing you talk about it maybe I should trust the process and see if it’ll work for my kids. We will be using MWC soon. I’ve been using MUS and I really like it but seeing how the lesson are in MWC mastery and also spiral I think is more beneficial than a complete mastery approach. Again thanks for sharing!

I think you will love MwC. The consistent review is really amazing.

So did you find the letter tiles portion was unnecessary?

We didn’t need them, simply because the kids could write when we started. Some find them handy, but I just like to keep things as simple as possible.

Did you supplement handwriting with anything? We rush a bit through the handwriting in Foundations and I would like to have some separate handwriting practice time.

No. We add in free-writing and I correct any issues as they arise.

Learning without tears has a great handwriting curriculum that I used last year and plan to continue with this year. It went well with All About Reading, and I think it will go well with logic of English too

Hey mama! What bull riding book was it by chance? My son is a bull rider, and we are having issues finding stuff on a kid's level that relates to him.

I would until one starts to pull away. If you ever feel like you’re holding someone back, or dragging someone along, I’d split and move at their own pace.

Did you end up doing the rest of LOE D? Or do you only do a-c? We are on D currently and we haven’t really been doing it. My son took 3 days to read the carp reader because he found it boring. I feel level d just takes us forever so we haven’t been doing it. I’ve had him pick books at the library that he likes. How did you find level appropriate readers at the library? How long before your kiddos took off with reading? Sorry for all the questions! Your video is such a blessing honestly! I just randomly came across it! ❤

We never went back! Check the level reader section and the beginning chapter books. They worked well for us. We traded off sentences and then paragraphs until he built up stamina. The initial goal was to do it for the summer, but within a couple of months, we we’re definitely not going back. We was reading really well in a few months.

How long did it take to do each level? Do I need to buy more than one level at once ? Or does a level last a whole year?
@thehometownhomestead
@thehometownhomestead Жыл бұрын
It will depend on the child. A and B can go faster, but things slow a lot in C and then dramatically in D. They’re definitely full year programs, although A and B can often be done in one year.
