The reason Soul Food 2 has the same beat is that it was supposed to be Soul Food 1, but they couldn't clear the sample back in the day so they had to remake it themselves. Now that logic is ballin, he paid to clear the sample and finally got to use it. I think it's awesome

The sample which was used in “man i is” is actually very famous because J Dilla (legendary hip-hop producer) used it with Erykah Badu in “didn’t cha know”. They both probably love the Dilla & Badu song so either they also gonna like logics song or they will be unsatisfied because logic took that legendary sample and didn’t got all the potential of it

I agree with George’s point that when the beat changes in certain songs you find yourself wanting more from one of the two beats, however I think if the whole song was the second instrumental it wouldn’t have the same effect. The change in instrumentals really makes the second beat stand out and increases its impact when you hear it switch.

Y'all damn near had my exact reaction to this song. This song really sums up a lot of the talent that Logic has had throughout his career. The flow, the vibe, the switch ups, the pockets he can fill in. That last verse is my favorite on the album just because of the vibe. Logic murders that vibe on that beat so well. Reminiscent of the incredible true story for sure in this song. I love how you guys have noticed one of his most talented qualities and that's Logics ability to make a great sounding sound.

FOR CONTEXT on Soul Food the beat is a remake of the Soul Food II beat. For the original Soul Food Logic couldnt get the rights to use the sample so he re-made the beat. Soul Food II is the original beat he wanted for the first Soul Food.
