you know it helps to let people know that the stem splitter only works on Apple Silicon... so don't get rid of all those other programs yet... by the way the next version of FL Studio will come with a stem splitter of it's own and guess what? it doesn't require Apple Silicon because it works for both PC and Mac.

Hey Eddie, Great video. TBH didn't have a chance to watch the whole vid. I previouly assessed all the others you mention and RipX came up best. Is LP11 as good as RipX?

These kind of have their strengths. I would say logic Pro does a better job of removing the vocal from Instruments. If you need a more specific job, I highly recommend RIP X or izotope RX

Wow, that was fast! I just tried this on one of my own songs, and I'm noticing a few anomalies, like some triangle and some higher parts of the snare bleeding into "other", but it's pretty insane! What's interesting is that it's able to extract such a wide variety of "drum" or "bass". I have a newer song with some random percussion instruments as well as a more electronic bass drum that it's picking out and putting in the drum track, which is really cool to see. That track also has some random bass sounds and synths that it's able to find. It doesn't sound the best, but it's insane that it's able to parse that so well. It was even able to pick out contrabasses, which I was not expecting. Interestingly, the bass drum sound I used in that has a pitch to it, and it managed to split the bass drum thud and pitch. Overall, it's pretty good, and I'm impressed!

Not a bad test - but make sure the "other" section has something for everyone of them as this is by far the most complex job to do. Bass drums and voice are much easier to separate... rest of harmonics are another game and is why Apple just makes one section out of them...

Last year I finally got my dream machine, a 2019 MacPro tower, top spec 32 processors, 128Gig RAM, 4 pice mounted SS hard drives with room for two UAD cards. It is a marvellous computer that still astounds me.. of course, now there are several features in LogicPro that I cannot access… way to go Apple 🙂

everyone who demonstrates this uses a piece of music ideally suited to stem extraction. We need to hear it on a more muddy piece.

Currently, that's not an option; you can split into "other", so if it's like just drums/bass/keys then that would work, but as of yet there isn't a way to extract just keyboard with the in-build Logic splitter. Part of that is likely due to the extremely wide range and variety of sounds a keyboard, or even just one piano can make, which with their current setup (which seems to be using some sort of equalizer with like 8000 bandpasses) would be difficult to pull off. If you need just the keyboard, you'd have to use a different program for the foreseeable future.

I don’t anything about programming but I can tell you with. Warranty this new stuff takes a lot of processing so I think that’s why there is the move to the “M” chip. Totally get it. Would be nice to a PC Guy 😂
