Superb content - I have never used the Live Loops at all but will now . In a couple of my recent releases I have used 12 bar loops for the percussion only to add variety . Thank you JB - EXCELLENT

Interesting rhythms, you could find some cool nuggets using this technique. Thanks Jono. Quick q... does the time signature (4/4) make any difference with live loops, haven't used them before (in my head they are for the youngen's, but maybe they are worth a play)
@jonobuchananmusic4 ай бұрын
Thanks John. No, I don’t think changing the time signature of the Logic project will make too much difference, though if you were to do that, I suspect that any MIDI regions you create will confirm to the relevant time signature. However, if you recorded the Live Loops project across into Logic’s Main Page with its tempo set to, say, 3/4, that would add a new layer of potential meter fun! So actually, having said no, I think I mean yes!

Interesting concept, thank you. I am looking for something really simple which Logic's live loops (like most other "groove gear") may not have actually been made for: changing the tempo right in the middle of a performance. Like making various (vertical) stacks in the same project and have them play at different BPMs. The use for that would be doing medleys in a live performance, playing medleys of songs in different tempos. So far I haven't found a viable way to do that. There's a meta event for project tempo, but it seems to be ignored in live loops (does work in the legacy Touch Tracks environment object, but that's quite abstract and tricky to handle / remap after the fact). One can actually assign a hardware controller to tempo, but that's difficult to get right in a busy live situation. Ideally one would set specific tempo for each column / stack in the live loops area and that would be it. Since Logic is so powerful overall particularly regarding MIDI, I'd figure this should be really easy to do. But I haven't succeeded so far. Any idea?

Thanks for your question. I think the Main Page in Logic might be the best bet for what you have planned - you’re right, I don’t think Live Loops allows for a ‘per column’ Tempo offset. But I’d also be tempted to try this in Logic’s Main Page for a number of other reasons. You can also organise all of the things you need for each song you want to play as a ‘vertical stack’ of instruments, Audio playback, effects and more. You can put all of those resources, for each song, into a Track Stack, assign the correct tempo, configure effects and put a Marker and Loop around that song to keep ensure that the sounds you’re playing remain ‘inside’ each track before you’re ready to move onto the next one. If you assign a Marker to the start of each new song, you can use Key Commands to jump to the start of the next track you want to play. I hope that helps. Alternatively, whilst it’s not an application with which I have significant experience, MainStage may well be your best bet, as it was designed to facilitate exactly the uses you’re describing. Good luck - let me know how you get on.

@@jonobuchananmusic Thank you very much for taking the time. I didn't realize Mainstage had such functionality, but it does make sense come to think of it. I will look into it. I had an earlier version of Mainstage, but that was a long time ago.

Great stuff. Have to admit Ive ignored the whole loop section of Logic. When you talk about swapping the looped audio for drum kit designer, is there a way you can take that loop and essentially convert it to a midi pattern?
@jonobuchananmusic4 ай бұрын
Hi Matt. You could do that if you were to convert the Audio loop to a Sampler or DMD track instead and trigger it from detected Transients.
