Can I ask a dumb question?? after you have done the melody and 808 bass.. how do you know that all your drum pieces, claps, HH, etc... are in tune with the melody and bass... sorry I know nothing about music theory..

Very cool CJ. But there is another way to pitch shift hi hats in the step seq using Drum Machine Designer, might be easier. Put the Pitch Shifter plugin in your channel strip. Open the drop down menu on your Hi Hats in your Step Sequencer where you have volume etc. Click the down facing triangle at the + button at the top. Open Automation/Pshift/Semitones and it puts the control in your hi hat column with everything else. You know the rest. Peace.

@@CJBeatzProductions Forgot to mention you expand DMD to its components and you put Pshift only on the HH channel.

Theres another way without the use of the Pshift plug in. Within DMD. build your kit as you like then program the drums hi hats etc into your pattern. right click -> MIDI -> seperate by note pitch. and Viola! Logics sends the midi data to each respective channel/track and from there you can open up the piano roll to edit your midi info as usual if that's the method you prefer.

@@Gainsforlife That's cool I just thought maybe I can do it all in the step sq. If you click on the DMD in the main window it already expands it into separate tracks, click on the HH track for example and the step sq will highlight just that track if you put Pshift in the HH track you can automate it just like you do volume all in the step sq. The way you do it is probably more precise but I think my way is quicker. Just a matter of choice I guess.

Hey CJ Beatz, Nice dope video. Thanks.What I think is that if you know your tools and with that I mean Logic you can do almost everything inside Logic Pro x without any third party plug-ins. The quality is amazing and the functions it's got. Only the synths need a little update.I believe we in our minds think that we need this or that plug-in but in reality you already have all the tools. It's just how you look at it and how creative you are you using it. I remember the days I used to to everything outta my fully expanded Akai s11000, that was my workhorse and it always worked. Thanks again for this amazing video, I can see you know how to use your tools.

thanks! Once the project is loaded open the sampler containing the 808, simply go the top left drop down and hit save as, then in any new project load the sampler and go to drop down menu and select the 808

had the same issue. make sure when you load the sampler press multi output like he did at the start or else you won't be able to expand in the bus
