I believe there's a simpler way I've found... change your stereo track to mono, right-click on the audio file in your track, select bounce in place and you're done
@fiftyshadesofurban3 жыл бұрын
That's the simpler way? I used to say "Hey, make this sample into mono.." Stereo to mono and it would do it BOOM done. No bouncing no changing anything. and it affects the original file. I did this in Sound Forge all the time... and I could have sworn you could do it in Logic as well when it was owned by Emagic.... You mean to tell me that Logic has no actual destructive sound processing ???? I have a bunch of effects on the sound file and such.. Why can't I just edit the original sample permanently without messing with bouncing tracks?

This works ok if you want to MIX the two stereo files into a mono track. But what if you want to separate a stereo track into two mono files? This might be the case if you recorded on only one stereo track and you don't want to mix any noise in from the unused track. Or you may have recorded two voices or instruments on a stereo track that you want to control separately for EQ, noise reduction, effects, etc. Here's what you do: Make two track lanes and duplicate the dual mono stereo track. Be sure they're perfectly in sync. At 2:18 in this video, he shows us how to change from stereo to mono by clicking the button to the left of the Input switch. Here's the secret: HOLD DOWN THE MOUSE BUTTON until you get the hidden pop-up. Don't just click the button. You'll get a pop-up that offers a number of options, including "Left" and "Right." Select "Left" for the first lane of your duplicated track and Select "Right" for the other lane. Now, on your first lane, you have a mono file of the left track and in your second lane you have a mono file of the right track. You can process and pan these just like they were purely mono tracks.

Was trying to find a faster way and found it. Get an MPC, set sampler mode on MONO, record everything you want in mono and chop it all up. It's the fastest way to convert multiple files quickly. Except I already had an MPC, but I had no idea the MONO setting was in sampler mode and not in the settings, GAAAAAAAAHHHH, attention to detail, attention to details! Also recording all the samples from a directory through the Media Browser mode is faster than dragging all those sounds in the arrangement, but I'm not too sure how the quality of that sound of Media folder auditioning compares to dragging them all into the daw, it sounds decent to me

Thanks for the tip, I wandered why it requires so many actions to simply render into mono?! @SyllixMusic7 жыл бұрын
Roman Stativka yes, if you use gain plugin you can make it mono but if you render it as a solo track via bounce project you will get a stereo file. Usually not a problem unless a client is specifically asking for mono audio files as stems.

So if I need to bounce vocals to send to other artists, and they ask for them to be in mono, you're saying there's... no way to do this? When I try this option, I don't intend to put the bounced vocals back into logic. I plan to send it to somebody else. But then this bounced version is only coming out of the left speaker. Talk about the need for a big giant button because Lordy do I feel stupid not understanding this! XD
@SyllixMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hi, this video explains how to take a stereo file and make it mono. The result should play out of both speakers not just the left. In most cases your vocals should be recorded as mono to begin with. This video is really just to explain that, should you ever find yourself with a stereo file of something you want mono, there's a way to convert it. Good luck!

Is it the same to bounce a mono track to mono? I'm only doing guitar over dubs for a client and he tells me my mono tracks are arriving in stereo on his end.Thanks!
@SyllixMusic4 жыл бұрын
I believe the standard bounce project or bounce section will produce a stereo file. You will have to render using the mono method to ensure your files are being rendered in mono. If you're not sure which ones ended up nono, just open the files in a blank project. Mono files will show as a single waveform where as stereo will show two waveforms (if you're zoomed in enough)

@ This was actually the best tip i've gotten! Basically you just split the stereo file into two, with the scissor or the + tool and then select them both and cmd-J to join them, as long as the track is set to mono it will create a new mono file out of the two! :D

Tilley Road Affair Productions there may be times when an element fits better in the mix if it's mono rather than stereo. There may also be times you may want to split frequencies of a particular sound making the lower frequencies mono, such as a bass synth, and keeping the higher frequencies in stereo. The purpose of this tutorial was to simply show how to bounce an audio file in mono because it's actually not very intuitive. In hindsight I could have clarified a bit more in the beginning but I wanted to keep it short. Thanks for watching and I hope this answers your question.
