I know you're a good reviewer because you convinced me to buy the keyboard you didn't like. You properly explained the pros/cons of both, which helped me realize the K480 is the best for my use-case, which is mainly just having a keyboard I can use around the house or in my backyard, in various laying down/sitting positions, with my phone/tablet as well as the desktop PC I have setup in front of my couch in the living room. It would be replacing the keyboard I currently use for that PC, the logitech K800, which is over 3.5 lbs, so from my perspective it seems light, lol.

I always love hearing how different people reach purchasing decisions. The click of the K480 keys is actually a selling point, rather than a deal breaker, for me. I'm legally blind and use the sound that comes back from keys to help me catch if I've made a typing error or double pressed something. Anyway, thanks for the great comparison and reviews.

It's been almost six months since I purchased the K480, and found it very helpful. It's features are unmatched by any other keyboard even as of today. I mean, when I got this I was using an iPhone and then I switched to android. And it still works. Moreover, it works simultaneously with three different devices of any operating system! Keys To-Go requires you to choose the version before you buy. Great review even with my keyboard ended up loosing in your books.

I'm a graphic designer. I have a K480 that I use at work. I monitor my email on my iPad resting in the slot on the keyboard while I work on the Mac. The keyboard lets me easily and quickly switch between devices. This means I can be super-responsive to priority emails. I actually like the feel and sound of the keyboard. I don't find it too loud. There is a good amount of travel and springiness to the keys. The weight helps keep it from sliding around on my desk. I wouldn't, however recommend it to someone who wants to carry it around. It is just a bit to bulky and heavy for that. I think it's better around the office or home.

And battery life is excellent been using this keyboard everyday for over a year now and still on the same set of batteries. Great review! I went for "the loser", here's why: I personally don't really care about the key sounds, but I love to have keys a bit apart while typing. It has that killer integrated stand and its weight makes it sit nicely tight on your lap.
@korpulian7 жыл бұрын
Here s an update from me, after having both keyboards for two weeks: K480 is the right choice for me. Keys-To-Go is not a bad keyboard, but its layout is squeezed and it's not that easy to type with it, especially when it's on your lap or sits on a soft surface like a pillow e.g.. It's thin, thus pretty unstable, you have to press hard to hit the desired key plus its grip has a stupid angle. And K480's switching between Mac, iPad and an Android phone is a killer, has a great stable dock to have all gadgets in front of you; I even dumped my Mac keyboard after using it for a day or so.

There's no ESC KEY button of the 2nd keyboard. Just a warning
@kakyoism5 жыл бұрын
Interesting. What you raised applies to most pad keyboards I've seen. ESC seems a desktop thing for a lot of "quit" actions. But current mobile apps don't usually quit, they simply switch, unless you insist with the swipe-up gesture; within each app, any prompts, like discarding changes, "quit" by responding to a background touch on the screen (it's free from aiming), so that takes care of the other half of the desktop ESC jobs. On top of these, inspired by a typical Mac keyboard, Logitech comes up with the top row of keys. Its top-left button, where a ESC should be on a desktop keyboard, acts as the "home button" to help you "quit everything", a.k.a. return to "desktop", which is probably the most popular "quit" on a pad or a phone. So I can totally see why a dedicated ESC is out of the question on mobile. One thing I learned from working with keyboard-aided pads and Ultrabooks is that I can be more productive when I know exactly when to touch my screen and when to stick with my keyboard. For instance, many micro-navigation keyboard shortcuts are still practical like the Mac Ctrl-A/B/E/F/N/P sequence, but sometimes random access via a touch between characters can really drive you home faster.
@edewar60043 жыл бұрын
The overly steep angle of the holder on the keys to go is easily remedied by scraping a kraft knife blade over the back edge of the holder slot a few times to shave the corner off. My tablet now sits at the same angle as it does in the K480. Stability is not an issue with this change either. Thanks for this review, I bought both keyhboards off the back of this video and really like them both! I find the K480 more comfortable, but the keys are sometimes a little sticky if you hit them on the edge. And yeah pretty noisy but I don't mind this much of the the time. I like the connection selection switch, plus I prefer removable batteries because usb charged keyboards are dead once the integrated battery doesn't hold a charge any more. Keys to go for travelling, no doubt.

I liked Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard way better then the other one. All points that you say are negative, i liked them, i love bulky keyboard because they it give solid foundation and don't feel fresky like its gonna slip under your hand. The clocking sound of keyboard gives its authentic typewriter touch which writers crave for, and angle as you admitted is great. And there is adequate space between the keys which goes well with my large hands. 5 Star for Logitech Bluetooth.

I have a K480 and I agree that the keys are so noisy that I keep trying other keyboards. However I keep coming back to it because I love working with my iPad resting on my lap while I sit on the couch which none of the others have done. One thing you did not mention is that while you can have 3 apple devices paired at once, you can also have 3 android devices paired simultaneously too giving you 6 paired devices to access by turning the knob. All you need to do is change the switch on the right hand side of the keyboard to the android setting then pair your 3 devices and again when you need to switch to the devices in use. Unfortunately the keyboard is not backlit either which is another reason I keep looking for other keyboards.

This is a great review. But the winner for me honestly is the K480. Its easy to slip my phone and tablet into the top of it and switching the keyboard between the two is super simple. Rotate a dial. Plus I like the longer key travel because I tend to type like an elephant on a pogo stick. And I like the "Mechanical" sounds of the keyboard. I know its not mechanical, but that little click it does enforces that I hit the key.

I think I'll go with the Keys-to-Go for my iPad Pro 11''! I like the better typing experience of the K480 but the spill-proof, silent (I take notes in class) and extremely portable factor of the KTG is the way to go! (And i don't like having a keyboard always on the iPad, so I don't like keyboard cases. It's just a shame it uses micro-usb instead of USB-C

Logitech doesn't claim months for the batteries in the K480. On their website they say "Battery life: 2 years". AA batteries are so common and so cheap that is a big PRO for the K480. Built-in rechargeable batteries wear out over time too. How I see these 2 keyboards is whether you prefer comfortable keyboard that is large and heavy or a sweet looking, less comfortable light keyboard for easy portability to travel with. I am actually considering the Logitech K380 which is cheaper than both but I feel like it is in the middle ground between these 2 keyboards. I don't need a stand either as my tablets are in a case and have stands built in.

I do like the K480 as I like the old keyboards from the 90s and 80s. I hate flat keyboards and I like the rounded keys K380 as they are bigger but I hate that there is very little response with the keys and no way to angle it.

I needed it for my laptop since the keyboard went and i did not want to purchase a new one.. yet just because of a few keys. The 480 was a winner because it is good for windows and iOS. The stability of this unit is wonderful. It really makes using the ipad more functional. Once the new iOS system is available.. we will be able to use the mouse (a special one) with the older iPads. I cant wait.. i love the iPad Pro.. but cant justify the expense because my ipad is fine. Thanks for the great video.. you are an exceptional trainer and reviewer.. i am subscribing to your channel.

Hi Dave, I just read the full review on your website, and I am wondering how your Keys To Go has held up? Specifically, the dirt/maintenance issue and battery life after years of use! God bless :)

Hi Denian! Sadly my KeysToGo's battery failed about a year ago - it wouldn't hold a charge at all. After it died, I ordered the K480 and K380 and once again returned the K480. Still, if portability, silence and spill-proofness is important, the KTG is hard to beat. TheK380 is decent, but unfun. At home I now prefer the Anne Pro 2 but it's a 60% layout which isn't for everyone and (ironically!) noisy due to it's mechanical keyboard. But it's a joy to type on and the backlight is really good too. Sadly, there are issues with bluetooth so I haven't done a full review in hopes they fix it ... Hope this helps!

hi mr dave, i had the k480 for a while until it broke. it was a nice keyboard. i loved the battery aaa battery design because i used rechargables. but you are right it was noisey. i now have the zagg limitless. its similar to the k480, has integrated stand, built in rechargable battery, and backlit keys plus its pretty quiet. it can also be paired to 3 devices. its not as heavy (personally i wish it was heavier) but it has enough weight to hold a tablet.

Great video! I like your style and voice! (I'm a singer. Some speaking voices and habits drive me nuts!) A few thoughts. 1. Rechargeable vs. AAA. Our power can go out for days. It's nice knowing I can just pop some batteries in. Use my spare charger for the phone. Or if I'm somewhere with no cable, just pop into Rite Aid and click away. Also, have had to spring on a few toys to replace a rechargeable battery. It led to trying myself. Not pretty. Love the knob on the 480 so I know what device ding bat me was on last. I thought the clicking was going to be a deal breaker. I'm the kind of person who can spend half a day deciding which color pot holder to put top of the pile. I concentrate deeply when I write. My son quietly saying, "Good morning!" can get a "Jesus!" panic reaction. All that to say, I even wonder about myself. I'm a wee bit detail oriented. I've come to enjoy the clicks. For now. I can imagine them getting on my nerves. But, so far not bad. I don't like that I can't take my toy quiet places. But, I'm mostly using mine at home. I like to annoy my kids while I pretend I'm being productive. It's not that loud. They say they can't hear me from across the room. The keys having space between has been nice when it's time to clean out the cookie crumbs.

Hi Dave what is the little gray stand thingy you were using with the Keys-to-Go? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!

I'm a writer who live in a bubble. I really don't care if others around me are annoyed by my typing noise. I really whack the keys. After 4 years in 2021 the K480 is still clicking clacking well.

How funny that I ended up getting both of the keyboards in this review. I got the keys to go but when I couldn’t find the K480 but i finally got the K480 when I found it.

Some people love the clicking noise from the K480 and the key travel like a regular keyboard

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm tired of reviews for "bluetooth" keyboards which require a dongle. That's not bluetooth, that's propriety wireless. shame this review is over two years old. I'm literally subscribing based on this one hyper accurate fact. Google, fix your search engine and stop showing me logitech proprietary solutions.

Agreed! I came across the same problem when researching options. Thanks for watching and hope you found a keyboard that works for you :)

I don't mind the key sounds on the k480. Let's people know that I'm busy working. What puts me off is the phone stand and how unnecessarily cramped the keyboard is. Surely a slightly bigger keyboard would still fit the smallest bag in the world, right?

Any idea of something like K480 but with a touchpad? (for the sake of remote desktop access on the lap)
@jiankuo5 жыл бұрын
K480 is so big and heavy, K380 and keys-to-go is probably more comparable.
@helinahe44414 жыл бұрын
Have you used the K380?
@jiankuo4 жыл бұрын
@@helinahe4441 yes, it is average to type on, K811 is much better overall if cross platform is not necessary
