Decades of computer mice and this is what we have to do with the biggest computer gear brand on the planet.

DO THIS FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING: Turn the mouse off then flip it over and drag the scroll wheel across your mouse pad very fast back/forth and it should fix the issue/ dislodge any dust or grime that is critically affecting the sensor.

What i did was just lift the left and right buttons on the mouse and then blowing air from under the buttons to remove the dust from the wheel. It fixed my problem and was really easy, maybe try doing that first instead of going through the trouble of removing the mouse stickers and disassembling the whole mouse

An updated review. My mouse will after some time again begin to scroll up when i am scrolling down. It does help to blow the dust away, but i think in the long run it is more reliable to just buy a new mouse.

Currently trying to but unable to desolder the sensor from the chip. Using 420 C temp and reepating your actions, but factory solder just doesn't melt. Any tips? I'm new electronics, but can solder and desolder on my test chip just fine using my own solder.
@ClickFix7Ай бұрын
did you used solid rosin? its important to melt the solder. like i did in 2.37
@ClickFix7Ай бұрын
you can also try using some solder paste. that also help melt the solder

Managed to get it off, my process was thus: Since I've got the replacement there was no need in the broken sensor, so I clipped the old sensor off the microchip, leaving just it's legs. Then I added some of my own solder on the legs, to use it for heat transfer to the factory solder, cuz I just couldn't melt it for some reason. Then, one at a time, I held the heat on each leg, while pulling it with tweezers from the other side. Had to hold heat for longer then was comfortable to me, but they came out eventually. Lastly, I've heated the holes and used solder sucker to get the remaining solder of. In the end the new sensor worked perfectly, but my RMB stopped working. It seems like I've damaged the board or the switch. You win some you loose some I guess. Massive thenks to the author!! This was my first real project soldering and it got me super interested in electronics. Now on to replacing the click switch...

Nevermind, the RMB switch is fine. It started working after I dissasembled the mouse again and cleaned the chip with alcohol again.

It helped - just gotta make sure that the things you plug in are actually pluged all the way in, made that mistake.

Thanks for the disassembly, I used IP alcohol on the scroll wheel and I don't have any more issues now. 👍

Why are all logitech mice like this? You'd think they would have fixed this issue 10 years ago.
@ClickFix79 ай бұрын
they use same type of encoder in all there mouses. if they use optical scroll encoder like they used in g 402 it might fix the problem.
