For anybody considering getting one of these...I hope you like touch-typing. I've had mine for just over 6 months now, and a bunch of the keys have worn so much that they're illegible and the backlight's shining through. While it's a great keyboard in use, I suspect it's light-use-only. Pretty disappointing for a £100 keyboard. UPDATE: Contacted Logitech support to get some replacement keycaps, and they took my address then said they don't supply spares for these keyboards. Then, without any pushing, they just said "Your replacement keyboard is on its way to you. Please dispose of the faulty one responsibly.". Fair play to them!

0:00 ⌨ The MX Keys Mini from Logitech is a wireless membrane keyboard priced at $99, similar to Apple's keyboards but with more features. 0:24 🔄 One standout feature is the ability to easily switch between up to 3 devices using the first three buttons in the function row. 0:35 📶 The Easy Switch feature allows Bluetooth pairing without needing the Logi Bolt USB receiver for a stable connection. 1:10 🛠 The build quality is sturdy with an aluminum design and eco-friendly packaging, using recycled plastic for the keys. 1:16 🎨 The MX Keys Mini is available in various colors, with the graphite version matching well with other Logitech products. 1:49 📝 The keyboard is a membrane type with less key travel compared to mechanical keyboards, preferred by some for ergonomics. 2:34 💡 The keyboard includes a light proximity sensor that turns off the backlight when not in use, extending battery life up to 5 months without the backlight. 3:11 🔧 The MX Keys Mini uses the Logi Options+ app for setup and customization, allowing remapping of function keys for specific actions or apps. 5:05 🐛 Some downsides include initial software bugs and issues with firmware updates, particularly on Mac. 5:53 🔌 The Logi Bolt receiver offers a more stable connection, especially useful when using multiple Bluetooth devices simultaneously. 7:08 🛠 Firmware update issues persist, with the keyboard not listed as compatible on Logitech's firmware update tool. 7:46 🍏 Apple keyboard users might find the MX Keys Mini's key travel slightly different, though it offers a similar typing experience. 8:24 🌐 The MX Keys Mini supports Logitech Flow, allowing drag-and-drop between Mac and Windows computers, similar to Apple's Universal Control. 8:47 🏷 The MX Keys Mini offers more color options, device switching features, and key customization per app, making it a competitive choice against Apple's Magic Keyboards. 9:45 🖱 A mini-sized keyboard is recommended if using a mouse or trackpad to avoid potential ergonomic strain.

Totally agree re. ergonomics. I can't believe there aren't more compact keyboard options out there, given the fact that MOST people use mice and/or trackpads alongside their keyboards. I was getting so many shoulder issues (granted, it did take me a while to figure out what the issue was). Getting a compact keyboard made a huge difference. The ergonomics problem of the numeric pad on the right can be solved if you use the mouse on the left. After you get used with it, a whole new world opens. You can immediately type the "enter" key AND keep your left hand on the mouse. Your right wrist will also be spared of complications like carpal tunnel syndrome. I switch hands at least 2 times per year or anytime I feel some discomfort in my wrists.

I agree with you on the membrane keyboard - the feel, speed, low key travel make for faster and more comfortable typing - it feels like a high-quality laptop keyboard which we're all slowly realizing is better to type on than these long-travel, noisier mechanical keyboards.
@rubegoldberger Жыл бұрын
Membrane vs mechanical is completely up to preference imo, but I think the key is _low-profile_ over standard height keyboards. But even that has preference. Too low and the typing (to me anyway) feels too stiff and the feeling of my fingers coming to a hard stop so suddenly gets tiring (talking about the uber cheap and flat keyboards at my school). Too high and typing speed feels restricted. I would like a happy medium between the two, which I _think_ most low-profile switches satisfy. Only typed on one with cherry mx clones though so maybe others might disappoint, but pretty sure things like switch travel is standard between types. Oh yeah, of course sound is subjective too lol. I like silent keyboards (typed on a friend's and loved it), but another friend's was quiet, but not silent and the sound was amazing.

Again, I was not the only person who hates mechanical keyboards. I just don't understand why so many people say that mechanical keyboards feel better. I prefer Apple keyboard or other high-end laptop chiclet keyboards. They are thin, so no need for cumbersome wrist rests; they are quite; they require less efforts to press. The only problem is that most non-crappy keyboards for desktop PC's are now mechanical. I mean, find a keyboard with 75% layout, backlight, and firmware key customisability that ISN'T mechanical. It's like seeing glass body having replaced plastic body in smart phones. Plastics are light, cheap, practical, and allows wireless charging. Hipsters said it feels cheap, so now all smartphone manufacturers use glass body that gets easily shattered and users have to protect it with a plastic case.

I always like "full layout keyboards" for my workdesk whether from Apple, Logitech, NuPhy or Keychron. The keyspacing is so much better so you dont accidently hit an adjacent key - so more accuracy at higher speeds , and its also an advantage to have num pad, dedicated arrow keys, scroll and pg up/down, extra function keys and special keys. Under the full layout category, I prefer the Apple ones for speed and accuracy , but also rotate occasionally with MX keys S for typing satisfaction. I think Apple messed up the New Nov-24 USB-C keyboards by making them super flat and eliminating all key travel . The previous gen of apple keyboards had better key travel and more satisfying typing experiences . I have larger finger tip surface area and prefer keycaps which are slightly larger and with decent inter key gap. This significantly improves my typing accuracy at high speeds.

And the point you talk at about 10:00, that is what I have been thinking. The current "full size" keyboard layout is outdated and need to abandoned. It probably was designed when people were not using mouse! With a mouse, the existence of the arrow key column and the numberpad column makes it difficult to use mouse, for right-handed people. I think the arrow key/numpberbad columns should be on the LEFT side of the letter key column, not on the right (letter/arrow/num --> num/arrow/letter). That way, mouse could be placed right next to the enter key.

I just got this keyboard because it feels much more solid and responsive than any other wireless keyboard I came across so far. Typing is really fine as said in the video and you can easily connect up to three different devices with different OS. However, the big bid drawback of this keyboard is the so called intelligent backlight which I dont find very intelligend. I am working most of my time in the evening when its already getting dark. So I definitively need backlight. Its also cool that the intelligent backlight adapts to different light conditions. But what is utmost uncool that it turns out immediately after only a view seconds of inactivity, even if you rest your fingers on the keys. It just turns out which is very annoying because you first need to touch or press a key again to turn it on again. And so far I didnt find out a way to overrule this behavior. So intelligence is good but is this regard its annoying. I often take a think break before following on writing. Then when I want continue writing the keyboard is completely dark. I have to orientate in the dark to find the right key for continuing writing. Hey, Mr. keyboard designer pls. implement an option so that that intelligent backlight shines forever until I switches the turn-off key. Thanks!!

I wonder if u used only one keyboard for both the Mac and Windows pc? Cause Logitech offers two options for their MxKeys. One MXKeys for Mac and one MXKeys for Windows. This option is available for both the MX keyboard Mini and the MXKeys. Maybe that explains the software issues u deal with on your mac pc, by using a MXKeys made for Windows :) I own the 'normal' MxKeys for Windows for almost 1,5 year. No issues at all and I personal find the Logitech Mx Keys the best typing/feeling keyboard at the moment. Not to mention the fast bluetooth connection while switching on or pairing with a other device, the solid quality of the material and the many options / personal settings u r able to. Theirs only one small thing they could have done better, that is the short amount of time when the keyboard switches off the backlight when u don't type for a couple of secs. It would have been better if users are also be able to adjust the time setting for this:) But yet I am still happy I bought this, even it may look too expensive. No need to change devices if you use Apple products, because of Universal Control, and at the very least you should’ve been able to use them as normal keys on the Mac version.

anyone here encountered auto-sleep issue? I mean, this is a good feature to keep the battery life longer.. however, just resting less than a minute, and the KB sleeps.. It gives me a hiccup around a second or two which is quite inconvenient for me.. there's no setting to disable or to set the sleep time longer for now.. for me, this is the biggest downside of this KB..

What about this keyboard in Linux?
@s-code-b3 ай бұрын
I have many mechanical keyboards. They are each fun to use in their own ways. But the MX Keys Mini in particular surpasses them all in terms of ergonomics. I say 'in particular' because not all 'membrane' keyboards type like the scissor-switched membrane keyboard MX Keys Mini. That said, three aspects of the MX Keys Mini are miserable: (1) the posture (angle) that it forces the wrists to assume because of the slope of the keyboard, (2) the miniature arrow keys are an ergonomics abomination, and (3) the light-bleed from the keys are a miserable unnecessary distraction. A true-TKL, without the light-bleed & without the miserable slope (angle) would have been far, far easier to live with.

This or the keychron k3 v2?

This is membrane keyboard, keychrone is mechanical keyboard...2 different things so can't make comparisons. There're MX mechanical keyboards.

I have both and I’d say I’d go to Keychron K3 V2.

I just don't understand how there are bunch of keyboard video reviews without a proper typing sound test and monkeytype test

Very good and detailed review 👌👍 I really like this keyboard very practical, full of features, but it should have a 100 key version as well, plus the lack of RGB is a bummer. even after paying b/w $100-$140, you don't get the RBG. I think it was deliberate. Otherwise, people won't buy their similar mechanical keyboards. They should add more heft to it and add good RGB.

Is this keyboard good for gaming too?
@tyronosafo97052 жыл бұрын
For gaming I‘d suggest the mechanical version with linear switches…if you don’t want a mechanical keyboard…it’s still just a keyboard, it will be fine. It’s just that for gaming it’s easier to not misspress a button with a mechanical keyboard as the travel is longer making the input more precise overall.

I only buy keyboards that can play nice with Linux. I don't need to configure much, just need a solid typing experience with no hassles. It looks like this keyboard may rely a little too heavily on its OEM software for Windows and Mac. I will probably look elsewhere.

I used the full version while I was running Linux and it worked fine. There was a program in the software repo that showed battery levels. I don't really dig into the software options on my keyboard though. I just love this keyboard though. Had a mechanical prior and although I liked the feel and the click of it, everytime I'd fart or something I would get a bunch of accidental key presses. After a couple years I never got the light touch I needed, so guess they aren't for me.

The problem with that keyboard is it doesnt handle fast typing, if you type with 10 fingurs and try to go fast it will muffle up, so you might just get a keyboard with a Nkro and antighosting

Membrane versus mechanical. Hmm. I don't know. Probably mechanical. But then i get on a really great membrane keyboard and my opinion changes.

Can’t remap and use any functions on iPad, I can remap buttons on Mac but those remapped functions work only on Mac and doesn’t transfer remapped functions to iPad, and I can’t remap button functions on iPad, so very limited keyboard, on iPads and tablets can be used only with default buttons functions which is very sad.
