I think there’s a misconception that iRacing is some kind of end-all be-all for sim racers. There’s actually a lot of issues with the physics, particularly when it comes to how the game handles oversteer. And the price tag for it is pretty insane. I also would absolutely not discount the quality of AC, ACC, rFactor, and Automobilista 2. I would put all of these (especially ACC) on the same level as if not better than iRacing.
@IdealMediaChannel3 жыл бұрын
It's not because of the simulation quality that iRacing is "the end all be all", it's the quality of competition. It's just soooo much better racing online in iRacing that any other sim, by miles. The skill, the courtesy, the clean driving, the race craft. iRacing can't be beat.

Just make sure you have the space for these setups. I bought The G29 setup and my shifter doesn't hold onto the glass table top very well, but is still a great choice. At the very least you can get an ACTUAL car for the price of what worthwhile sim racing setups cost for PC so you have to ask yourself would you rather have the real thing or a fake setup. I have about 1,500 dollars in my project car and its drivable. That's close to the same amount of money as a quality:PC, wheel, chair, Pedals and shifter,handbrake is generally sold separately.
@IdealMediaChannel3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but how often do you drive that $1,500 project car on the Nurburgring? I used to build and race cars, and my ~$2,000 setup let's me "race cars" unlimited for what it cost me to run my project car for a weekend!

@@IdealMediaChannel I drive it every day. Maybe not the Nurburgring, but small town America IS my Nurburgring. There's nothing in Europe that you cant find here. You can still go cheaper. The Logitech Driving Force GT isn’t a bad wheel. I actually prefer it to the G29 imo. The pedals admittedly aren’t as good but are fine if your not planning on using a clutch pedal and the wheel is quite noisy when it’s turned. I use mine on a Playseat that I picked up for £75 on an EBay Auction a couple of years ago, which also came with a Logitech Driving Force wheel and pedals that I sold off as I already had the wheel and pedals. Connect that to a PC and your away. Another cheap Alternative for PC is the Microsoft Sidewinder force feedback wheel.

1. Get a orginal xbox 2. Get a steering wheel 3. Get some retro racing games like midtown madness 3, nascar 2001 02 03 04 05. And all set.

FYI, if you think you will end up upgrading. DONT GO LOGITECH, Get a thrustmaster tmx, it’s a FFB wheel and goes with all of thrustmasters ecosystem so if you want to upgrade you will have WAY more choices then Logitech,

Id recommend the Thrustmaster T150. Doesnt get enough attention for how good it is. Better FFB, more degrees and thrustmaster has the best addons for the wheels
@MarkoVuckovic323 жыл бұрын
To add up on original comment, of you are on Xbox get Thrustmaster TMZ which is basically the same wheel but for Xbox. If you are on PC get whichever you like more since they both work on PC. Also it's better to get pro variants of these wheels since they come with way better pedals. Also the TH8A shifter is way better than the Logitech shifter but it's also a bit more expensive
@victor_7342 жыл бұрын
Yeah its seem to be the cheapest option if you want a good quality wheel

Thanks for the advise bro.. squiddy ( I tend to forget a lot of stuff sorry) I already got a gaming computer and I got Raceroom. Now I just have to finish the new school year with high honors (it's basically students who has every grades above 90 out of a 100) so my mom will buy me the logitech steering wheel but I want to buy it by myself since my mom and dad already bought my computer with their own money and I don't wanna ask them again so right now, apart from studying, I'm trying to grow on twitch and youtube Edit: Bros if you really don't have any budget to spend on games, Raceroom is free

Having made this mistake, I'd highly discourage anyone from planning on clamping a wheel to their desk and sliding the pedals under, and calling it good. The correct seating position, as well as stability in a proper rig is almost essential for the whole experience.
@AzagthothF12 жыл бұрын
I'm still using a 23 year old MS steering wheel without FFB and attached an old controller with tireps on it to get some extra buttons. The reason I bought a non-FFB steering wheel 23 years ago was its durability.

I have a Logitech G920 and it's been great. It's a much better experience than using a controller. The only problem is that the brake pedal is too stiff.

I prefer the Thrustmaster T150 Pro over the Logitech G29 mainly because the Thrustmaster Force Feedback is better and Thrustmaster has a better and more open ecosystem. Just food for thought overall. Make sure to get the Pro one, though. Overall it seems that 1000-2000 bucks seems to be the cutoff for getting really into it without going into the extremes. Minus the PC and games costs of course. Stuff like Direct Drive Wheels, vibrating rigs, VR glasses, 3 monitors is for the extreme end of things. You can get a high quality shifter and pedals for below 200 each. A stable rig for 200-500 or even DIY. And then there is simply just the quality wheel that is another 600-1000. Which is why I think the Thrustmaster is a better starting point as you can add the Shifter and replace the Pedals without any ecosystem issues. The wheel itself is better than the Logitech one so it's not the biggest deal that that's the last one you gotta replace for higher quality.

My first racing wheel is the Logitech g920 on xbox and it’s a really good purchase I recommend it but you can not change the wheel that it comes with have fun gamers 👍🏽

Is it only the wheel or you also get the pedals (acceleration, brake, clutch) and The place where you mount the wheel? Also, does the wheel come with paddle shifters?

Big time budget iracer here and great info sir! People over buy the processor more than anything. PC Rig Build: I am late chiming in on this but it may be timely. You can really put a PC together so cheap that will run Iracing. I still run an I-7 3770 with 16g of ram and a GTX1060 and while I cannot run "High" details on everything It still looks very good. You can pick up a used on like this for 300 bucks here. Most bigger areas have a guy on craigslist refurbing stuff. Graphics card: For the card I would go higher than my GTX1060 but with crypto prices dropping used cards are abundant and cheap. Something like a 3060 or 3060ti would perform great and can be had in the 300-400 range. Wheel: I started with a G29 wheel and pedal set just as described and have right @ 2000 races on the wheel. The pedals never let me down either but I realized they were the first thing that needed improvement. The logitech pedals sensors are 4bit which means you have 4095 increments of braking in the travel of the pedal. I had a hard time with the more fine brake modulation as I got better. So I bought some Fanatec CSL Elites (V1) with the load cell option and it made a huge diff. These have 16bit sensors so the same brake travel distance is now divided into 65,535 increments so now I have 16x finer increments vs the G29 pedals. My irating went up without a doubt, I was a ~1800-IR, I am a ~2800-IR now. Now some of the improvement was just time on the sim but some was for sure the brakes. I still run the G29 wheel and have no real issues with it. The sensor are equivalent to the upper tier but i would like to have better FFB and I bet the G29 has some latency I am not aware of. If you have the skill you can be a 3000+ IR guy on a G29 wheel and upgraded pedals. Fanatec has a 1 pedal set now for 79.99. It is not a Load Cell but you can add it and the third pedal for under 250 I think.
