I’m going to have to plan a visit around this camera fair. As a teenager I was a camera geek and my first summer job that I had to earn money for college was in a camera store. As someone with no real skills to offer working in a camera store was a dream compared to working in a fast food restaurant or as a bus boy. The manager of the store gave me a written test and I got all the questions correct except for a couple about Ilford film codes. The manager was impressed that I even knew that Topcon cameras had an Exakta lens mount. One of the thrills of selling a brand new camera was cracking open the box and getting a whiff of the new camera smell.

That was a incredible video, I love vintage stuff and collectors items. Or in this case rare things. What a place. Same thing if you like Arcade Games, they have plenty of that in Japan when most of that stuff is gone and not easy to find in Europe or America. Oh, how I wish Kai was with them in this video, he would probably love that place :-D

No, Ortho film isn't very common, but I got a couple of rolls of Rollei's Ortho 25 (bought from a camera store in Stockholm). AFAIK Rollei is the only one producing fresh ortho film (please correct me if I'm wrong, at least it's the only one I could find). Rollei also has a beautiful film called ATP (ISO 32) and some others. Right now I'm using Rollei RPX (mainly 400, pushed to 800) as my main film stock. But I also enjoy Agfa APX, it's a beautiful film (but I don't think you can get it in 120..)

I was in Tokyo last Fall and I checked out several camera stores. I can attest to what you say in that while there are no bargains in Japan, there are some excellent cameras available in great condition. MAP cameras in Shinjuku had a huge collection of used cameras and gear. I did get a chance to check out the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Ebisu which I highly recommend.

Wonder what Bellamy meant by "power" at 0:25?
@bellamyhunt23327 жыл бұрын
The I.C.S group has quite a bit of power, so they are able to use the spaces in premium department stores, something that would be very difficult for other groups. Thanks

"...same price as everywhere else" Currency conversion begs to differ based on those price tags. That red limited edition Mamiya 645 is going for $40,000 USD and the white one is going for $36,000 USD on eBay but at CP+ they were going for about $1900 USD. Granted those are just asking prices on eBay but still...I'm sure I'm missing something because that seems like a ridiculous price difference. Are those not price tags on the cameras?
