All this time we see the Infinity Stones in MCU, we see it as the big deal but in TVA, they just regular stones. Even you see Loki played The Tesseract like a regular box. A lot of people doing reviews of this show seem to be missing the fact that the TVA is deleting the variant timelines. My one issue with this so far is that with Endgames explanation of timelines, they’ve broken it about 10 times already
@flashfreak623 жыл бұрын
I don't think so personally. No living beings inside the timelines are aware of the existence of the TVA. So as far as the ancient one knew there's no greater force of order in the universe to prune those branching timelines.
@dadsleftfoot3 жыл бұрын
@@flashfreak62 my thoughts behind my comment mostly alluded to the whole idea of Loki escaping. His escape changed the course of the Avengers time heist entirely. Since he escaped with the Tesseract, they had to go back further to get the space stone. So technically with the TVA stepping in, everything that happened in Endgame after his escape is invalidated. With Strange saying that this was the one future that they win, that means that they only win in the timeline where Loki escapes during the time heist. If the TVA stop that then technically that’s a different future. Therefore, according the Infinity War and Endgame, the only future that they can win the battle with Thanos is the future that the TVA inevitably erases because it doesn’t follow the main time line. It’d be an easy excuse to say that Stramge just didn’t see that future but surely he would’ve checked to see if there was a future where the can beat Thanos without Loki escaping. Especially if he checked nearly 14 million possible futures

The thing I love about this show is that the show's premise is an allegory for when a character hijacks the storytelling process from the writer or storyteller. By being true to his/her true nature, a character can sometimes dictate the direction that the plot goes which may be different than the writer's original plan. In the case of the multiverse, this is referring to when in comics or other mythology, versions of stories are told so many times in so many contexts that they form alternate histories or realities for the characters living in these story worlds. When you bring things like time travel into a story like Endgame, all of the character and plot rules apply to whenever the time jump travels. The TVA is essentially the guardians of the story or "the sacred timeline", or potentially the team of creatives and other workers responsible for carrying a show or movie franchise forward. What happens when one of these characters escapes the pages of the story and enters the world of the storytellers? What happens when a character gains new agency through sentience? And what happens when that character is the god of mischief? The animated clip from the first episode also serves as a fantastic multi-layered meta-commentary on how overlapping and conflicting timelines can lead to chaos in the storyline and in the "canon" of the story universe. This is referring to the in-world continuity problems that lead to reset events like Secret Wars, real-world canon shifts in the comics as Marvel rewrites their own in-universe history, and to the conflicting timelines with regards to split ownership of the film properties. Just like how WandaVision dabbled with a meta-commentary of the history of sitcom television and Falcon & the Winter Soldier dissected the meaning behind nationalist iconography, Loki seems set to be an in-universe version of Marvel showing us how the sausage is made as they prepare for universe reshaping events like Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

I loved the episode. It's really interesting seeing them follow up from that moment in Endgame. As I'm sure we all knew was going to happen long before they announced the show. Still pretty cool. As much as I like your idea of Loki eventually going back to the timeline to fulfill his role, I don't think that's going to happen. At first I thought they left behind a duplicate Loki in that timeline to get taken to Asgard. But upon reflection, I think what happened after they took him is reset that timeline. So Loki never actually left there and the branch he caused by teleporting away with the space stone is gone. Basically this version of Loki exists outside of time as they said during the episode. And I'm looking forward to him helping the TVA stop other versions of himself. Sounds pretty cool to me and it is a very solid first episode.

"Next level intrigue with some timeline fuckery" Oh, you sold me with that line

6:02 great review! However the tesserract and loki don't have any timeline to go back to because when the TVA captured loki, they reset the timeline or in other words, completely destroyed that timeline.

I wasn’t looking forward too much to this series. Leading up I thought it seemed weird, but I’m so happy they quickly addressed the timeline and time travel aspect becasue Endgame seemed to have introduced so many questions. That really got me intrigued and loving it so far.
