I honestly wish we got more of this storyline of Loki ruling Asgard as Odin, I was so interested in where that could go when the dark world came out then ragnorok just kind of sidelined that plot point and immediately brought in hela to take over Asgard

Honestly, I think Odin knows that Loki is the King. But to Odin... Maybe... he feels that as long as Loki is King, Thor get his freedom, his 2 sons doesn't fight. Every father wish is for his sons to get along well. A fight between Loki & Thor would result only in Asgard destruction. Perhaps, he thinks that it is better that Loki is King while Thor roams around protecting the 9 realms since Loki is smarter (better brains to be King) while Thor is stronger. Funniest was that the 2 siblings actually got along pretty well but bickered as usual upon Odins death. But their 3rd sibling actually brought their r/s even better.
