This is a fantastic product demo. I have 2 guitars with Lollar P90s. One ‘50s wind’ and one ‘Low Wind’ and this video demonstrates the subtle differences beautifully. Hopefully you do a similar video for humbuckers. I have a 335 with Imperial Low Wind in my 335, have always wanted to try the El Rayos : )

It's already on the schedule! It's going to take a while though, as we try to use the same guitar for all the pickups when possible. So that alone makes producing this sort of content take a bit longer than just plugging in a guitar and playing. Stay tuned for that when it drops though!

Great video! I have a Standard P90 and a Low Wind in a Warmoth Tele project guitar and IMO it’s one of my two best sounding guitars. The pickups were really beyond expectations. I really want to get a 50’s wind set in a guitar now. Maybe mod a Jazzmaster and do a JM-sized 50s wind bridge along with a Lollar 58 JM neck using 500k pots…🤔

This is a brilliant video. Great to hear how the different builds compare in the same guitar in all pickup positions. Other manufacturers might follow suit. I use a Lollar dog ear (50's wind?) in a junior dc replica. I can sound very Page-esque circa LZ I and II, even though I don't want to..

I like the 50s neck but would opt for a higher output bridge than the standard. Usually i like a 0.6k difference. The standard 50s is i think 0.4. Not enough imo. Actually, i like a standard A5 in the bridge, then roll off some treble w the control.

The Staple stands out from the others. Like a beautiful deep-pitched Strat pickup. I had expected the Alnico Pole to sound similar, but in these samples, the Alnico is closer to a regular P90. Is that true in real life when you're playing it?
@LollarPickups3 ай бұрын
The Alnico Pole P-90 straddles the line between a P-90 and something like a Jazzmaster tone.

I really wish you would edit and sequence the comparison videos differently. I think it would make much more sense to group the demos by position/style instead of by pickup so you can directly compare the pickups more easily. So you would cycle through bridge/clean with all the pickups, then move on to middle/clean with all the pickups, etc.

While we certainly understand and appreciate what you're saying here; there's simply no way for us to please everyone in all things. It's simply a matter of opinion and individual preference. If we did it the way you suggested, we'd just have another contingent of folks saying that we should've done it differently. Time stamps allow viewers to jump around as they wish. That being said, we take comments and suggestions such as this into account in the process of making future videos. So, thank you for taking the time to share your opinion. I'd suggest the format they used is actually better. We gear nerd guitarists get far too caught up in gauging things in terms of comparisons and trying to pick what's better, but when examining a range of options like this it's much more productive to blindly listen and just note when you hear a sound you like. I think this is a faster route to finding the pickup you want.

Surprised I liked the standard neck and bridge the best, although they all had their charms. Is the DC-90 supposed to sound like a Fender Wide Range pickup?
@LollarPickups4 ай бұрын
No, that was simply a design choice made to allow for the pickup to facilitate the use of two coils and an aesthetic choice. The Fender Wide Range Humbucker design is appreciably different, utilizing magnetic slugs in place of steel ones. This pickup is built more like a dual coil P-90 than a WRHB.

Will these fit in my Firebird?
@LollarPickups2 ай бұрын
Theoretically, yes. Our P-90 pickups have the same footprint as a Mini/Firebird with the LP Deluxe-style rings, so they *should* fit. But we try to avoid making any sort of guarantee on that, as we can't possibly know for sure without taking measurements and confirming fit. To be sure, you can take measurements of your instrument's cavities and compare them to our P-90 pickup dimensional drawing found here on our website: www.lollarguitars.com/p90-pickups/p90-soapbar-dimensions-both.jpg
@rondavies25714 ай бұрын
What Lollar P-90 model would be closest to the original P-90s installed in a 1968 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop?
@LollarPickups4 ай бұрын
The closest you'll get is our standard P-90. We based it on the original sound of the Gibson P-90 pickups before the aged and were considered "vintage". But our '50s Wind P-90 sounds like an old, road worn classic with decades of use under its belt; much like what we hear *now* from a vintage pickup, more so than what the vintage ones sounded like when they were brand new. So, if you're looking for a pickup that sounds like they originally sounded out-of-the-factory back then, then go with our standard P-90. And if you want the sound of an actual old, vintage instrument as it would sound today, complete with the effect of wear and tear of time on the sound, then check out our '50s Wind P-90. I hope that helps and doesn't further muddy the water for you.

Dylan's P-90s, Lindy Fralin's P-90's, Gibson P-90s. These are my favorites, and no hum-cancelling crap either. (Get a noise gate). Btw - A Klon-Clone pedal or "The Plumes" OD pedal makes my P-90's guitars sing pretty in my Deluxe Reverb amp.

Aside from natural compression that occurs within the amp's normal operation, there's no compression added in the recording or postproduction, so any that you may be perceiving is likely either from KZbin or your device.

Thanks for your feedback. Luckily, no one is being forced to buy anything that they don't want to buy. The fact is, the cost of highly-skilled American craftsmanship and top-quality materials is more than you'll pay for the same sort of product made on assembly lines with cheap parts. Lollar employees earn a living wage and have comprehensive benefits. Because of this, they enjoy a quality of life that is far greater than could be afforded if we cut corners on labor costs. Plus, our customers benefit from the high standards of quality found in our products, from the way they sound to their consistency and reliability. For some people, the juice is worth the squeeze. If it's not worth it for you, we understand and we appreciate the time you spent watching the video and sharing your thoughts. Take care!

You've inferred things that were never stated or implied. Maybe reread the comment without assuming that you were being told you're wrong. No one ever accused you of claiming they aren't quality, and no one claimed that other countries can't make or build quality products. No one was or is arguing with you. You said our products are pricey and I explained why: the cost of materials and labor. I apologize if the tone was misread. We're not trying to talk you into buying anything that you don't want or need and we aren't going to argue with folks in the comments sections when we have plenty of satisfied customers who are more worthy of our resources. Our videos are intended for folks who do want or need our products and/or services. If that's not you, that's fine. Have a great day and take care.

You need to make a vid comparing them back to back SAME SOUND AND POSITION, like neck only all pickups, then bridge all pickups, testing all positions and sounds on one then moving to another one no one can tell because they are not back to back same thing... these vids suck as you cant tell anything. By the time I hear 10 sounds of one pickup, impossible to tell when you move to the next.
