RIP lolo. His contribution and sharing of the dead is noteworthy, and has had an impact that ripples. May this channel live on and the MUSIC NEVER STOP!

In Edinburgh parked in my car Hunter/High/Bridges/Blair St. (should be Blare Street) I played this; passers by were stoppin smilin jivin around so I played it about 5 times in a row. The owners of the adjacent club had said "The vibrancy the music from your car gives this street is priceless". So much so they've given me and my partner Edith free admission to any show. I sit in the same spot for an hour or two several days a week letting everybody hear the GOOD STUFF. -People used to come up and ask who the bands were, now they come up and point their smart phone at the car.

Supposedly, according to Phil Lesh, this was about the time they were trying to “ Lose Keith onstage” with their playing. I’ve heard a lot of shows where this was the case, but not here. Keith played very well in an era where he didn’t have his best shows.

During the closing jam that peaks at ~11:45 you can see the sweat POURING outta Jer's forehead. Coming down w/Pneumonia & he STILL gave his all for Rock & Roll Psychedelia!!!! As a college freshman, I taped this off the radio the night of the show, which is also the day the album came out - I think I listened to the album like once & found it so sterile & boring compared to the LEGENDARY versions from this tape, I gave the album away to dorm mates & have probably never listened to it ever again in my life. Meanwhile, this Estimated - Shakedown is prolly THE most listened to piece of Grateful Dead in my life, like, literally 10's of thousand of times . . .

@@Focazm you have to understand that this was 1978.. and not to get into a big history lesson-and make myself sound older than I am, but times were very different back then,... and let’s just say there were “disco/rock wars” going on between people’s musical taste.. (and yes, it unfortunately got a little ‘racial’) The “rock camp” did NOT like “their groups” going “Disco”... No less the Grateful Dead- known for their “Woody” type of “extended blues rock”- ... to then all of a sudden, break into a “4 on the floor” dance tune... I don’t know-but picture it like this- at a P. Diddy or Jay Z rap concert... and then right in the middle of it, they Drop anchor, and start blasting *Mantovani* over the loudspeakers.. Kinda like that..

@@crungefactory I know very well what I’m taking about, my old butt was there..were you? lol Sure, the audience reacts positively because it was a hit, but most of the ‘diehard deadheads’ I knew *back then* were taken aback.. Jerry looked good in 78. He looked hella seventies. If I was a lady or gay dude and had a time machine I'd be digging on him. Like hey jerry let's go smoke some shit and some other shit and talk about jesus and put body parts in proximity to each other. Idk maybe I'd go bi for 78 jerry. Probably just hang out with him in a platonic way. Hey jerry, I also like drugs and the mixolydian mode. Do you want to go for a ride in my time machine and I can show you what a limp biscuit is. Turn that dial to 98. Look jerry your old band is back together and a guy who cut off his denim sleeves is playing your solo. Hey fuck this let's go see mob deep. Then let's find somewhere where you can tell me if the smoke got better in the future. Jerrys like "wait a minute its 98 and I'm not on stage with my band neither is Vince welnick. Did I pass or did I join a supergroup with stevie Nicks? I'm like listen dude just dont bounce from Betty ford no matter what the old lady says and like that we heard the solo go.from minot pentatonic to mixolydian and we knew we had changed the future. Look jerry, its vince. And he is playing a hammond b3 oh wonderous! Jerry, also you are using only analog guitar pedals the guitar you are playing has no midi processor. The 2000s are approaching and people want what's authentic. I get it but I like the flute effect in eyes of the world! I even got used to Vince's horn section chorus in estimated. Just kidding but I did enjoy the flute. What the hell am I talking about. Full disclosure I smoked some shit.
@matthewmead23743 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I kind of forget that these comments go out for the world to see and there is my full name and picture. Like what if I'm on a job interview and the boss googles my name and this weird comment pops up. He's like what the hell is a mixolydian and it's cool if you are gay but we dont smoke shit here. He would be more likely to see my horrible booking photos though. Or me trying to sound smart in other comments where I am less high and more trying hard. Btw this isnt my real name or picture. Not that I find any of my comment shameful. I've been asked if I'm gay and I hate when people are like "eeewww noo way that's grodie dude" it's like a simple no would suffice as opposed to you shitting all over someone's lifestyle and sexual preference. I'm not gay, at least not enough to act on it but I dont react with such disgust if I'm inquired about it. I'm like 'I'm flattered. It would be an honor to suck d@#k but alas, I prefer the female form. But know I clear my browsing history and who knows what dark secrets it may contain. In the screening room of my mind the guy may have put the wrong film in once or twice. That's all I'm saying. Also yes I'm also proud to admit I smoke shit. What kind of shit? I'll leave that to the imagination but I've smoked more than one kind of shit. Be careful folks pot is a wonderful safe recreational fun device. Other stuff can lead one into trouble. Some of it can make you weird. Hearing and seeing ghosts getting paranoid and raunchy staying up late. Maybe I'm talking about salvia, which is legal. Or spice. Yeah spice makes you watch dirty movies stay up all night scrub your skin because you can smell it coming out your pores did you hear that? They are hear. Who? Them
