Guten morgen Gutersloh (fond memories of my 2yrs at PRB). Great review of the Lomo bags. I'm currently looking at the 60lt through over Lomo pannier for approx £60. Unbeatable value 👌

Fun fact. Since you left PRB it’s been the district Covid vaccination centre and now it houses up to 800 refugees. The US military is interested in taking it on. I spent about 5 years posted there myself. Anyway, back on subject, I agree, Lomo are pretty much unbeatable value. Stay safe and keep riding 🤙🏻

@GreenString wow, big changes. I was 102 HQ in 2002-04 and had a fantastic time. I'm sure the base will never be the same... anyway, I won a bid on a pair of Rhinowalk panniers, so I'll have to wait for the Lomo experience. In the meantime, I'll like/subscribe etc etc.

For the money it's great kit. I ride a 1200gsa and normally use the OEM aluminium set up but also have the lomo stuff for when I want a lighter set up. Cymarc in the U.K. do a great exhaust protection plate for the GSA to keep the soft bag well away from the exhaust. The only thing I would like is some Mollie fixing points on the outside like you highlighted. I also got some vango 30l dry bags that fit inside perfectly which makes it easier to remove the contents.

Hi Darren. Your right and I think LOMO may be missing a trick. If they would just sew on some molle loops on the front / back I genuinely think they would be onto a winner. That said, I guess it would increase the price which, at the moment, is an obvious draw for many people. Thanks for the tip on the Vango dry bags, I’ll take a look at them. Cheers mate, keep riding and thanks for the comment, it’s much appreciated.

I am looking at getting an adventure style bike and am considering Lomo products when I do. I have some Kreiga stuff but the panniers are over double the price and, from what I have seen on the stand at ABR, they're no way near twice the quality!

Hi mate. I think for a starter LOMO kit is probably the best bang for buck you can get. I use a full Kriega system now. Naturally it’s very, very expensive but does have a 10 year warranty. Does that justify the price? No, in my opinion. You can buy a lot of LOMO luggage over and over before you come to equal price of a piece of Kriega kit. I think the difference is the Kriega stuff is, without doubt, much less likely to fail in the field (I drop my bike a lot). For me that’s important. Again does it justify the price? That’s an individual’s choice. Thank you for taking the time to comment. It’s appreciated.👍🏻

@@GreenString you're welcome, I came to the same conclusion. If I get to use it 3 or 4 times a year I will be doing well so I'm sure it would outlast me. The other bonus is that I would be less bothered if I scuff the Lomo kit than the much more expensive Kreiga bags. I just have to sell a couple of bikes while I work out which bike to get. Thanks for replying to me 👍

Great video gents thanks for taking the time and effort to bring it to us 👍 I’ve got a mixture of Kriega , Lonerider & Lomo myself Love the Kriega kit totally bulletproof, but as you say for the money the Lomo kit is spot on 👌 I like the fact that the crash bar bags didn’t cost a packet and If I took a tumble I can replace them quite cheaply if they get damaged 👍 Keep the vids coming please Steve , stay well and ride safe guys 👍👌👊

Yeah I’m the same. I’m using all Kriega less my rear bag which is a Touratech (Ortlieb), although I’ve used the 6.5 ltr crash bar bags a few times now and never had an issue. Jase is going to bite the bullet soon and get a Lone rider adventure tent for next season. Lone rider seem to be slowly creeping into the market now as I see them more and more on the big KZbin sites. I have mentioned it on a previous comment that it would be good if LOMO put some molle loops on the front and back of their bags to make them more modular but I guess that would hike the price up. Any way, as always thanks for the feed back, always appreciated. I’ll start editing all the footage from Sweden soon. Take care.👍🏼

Interesting that the lone rider tent fits in the Kriegas…Mmmm, anyway thanks for the offer to sell the Kriegas. We are in both ex pats in Germany so sending anything from outside the EU would attract to much import tax to make a purchase worthwhile. That is presuming your in the UK?

Love my Lomo gear. Never let me down no matter what the weather. I drape mine over the Rally Raid Rack on my CB500x and then secure with Tourateach straps as I find the Lomo straps a bit of a faff, so ditched them. The crash bar bags distribute the load and compensate for the size of my smallish 'medium' bags. I Use a Lomo 15ltr YELLOW bag on the Rally Raid Tail piece (instead of a top box) to make myself a bit more visible. I do use an Outback Mototortek exhaust deflector due to the angle of the pipe on the 500x.

Sounds like a cracking, functional set up on a brilliant bullet proof bike. I’m thinking about getting some more Lomo kit in the future to try out. I run a Touratech (Ortlieb) bag on the back, also yellow, for the same reason as you Mac. Great minds think alike. Thanks for taking the time to comment mate. Much appreciated.

@GreenString Жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, I always endeavour to reply and assist with anyone and everyone who takes the time to comment on our channel. Regrettably I cannot give you an exact answer to your question. The additional carriers were retrofitted on by Jason who, at this time, has not responded to my request for information. I think he found them fairly cheap and I also believe they used pouches with the MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load carrying Equipment) attachment. Perhaps Google “Bottle holder - MOLLE” and see if you have any luck. If I do manage to get a link I will send you another message. Once again, my apologies for being unable to assist in this case. Thanks for your support. Stay safe and keep riding 👍🏼 Steve.

@@GreenString thanks for this …much appreciated. I hope you don’t mind if I ask a further question of you, after looking at your other vids….ive got a Givi Monokey base plate on the back of my bike (HD Pan America) and I’m finding decent top boxes eye wateringly expensive when you consider, that I’ll probably only use them a couple of times a year….so as an alternative I’m thinking of making do with a Lomo or Oxford Aqua dry bag….can I ask in your opinion what would the optimism size bag would be……? Reason I ask is I’m undecided between 30/40/50/60 and even 70 litres….bit don’t want to take up any more space than the footprint of the Givi Monokey rack, or compromise on pillion space or have to flopping around too much(I already stumped up for the Givi Grt722 soft bags and rack)….what is your opinion of the best volume size please ?
@GreenString Жыл бұрын
@@mattgolding7557 Very good question that prompts more questions from me! OK, to put some context into this I run with a 40ltr bag on the back. But the reason I chose this was simply because I needed a bag that fitted my tent poles and bed in. So consider what will be the primary use for the bag and ensure any odd sized bits of kit will fit in. When your Givi bags are loaded for a tour do you have any spare room? If not then factor in additional space in your top roll bag purchase. I see Lomo do a very cheap 40L dry bag but it opens on the side only which, if packed correctly, you can get to kit without unstrapping it. But equally can be a pain. Oxford do a nice 30 & 50 ltr bag (aqua). So I'd go for one of those. Width of the 50Ltr is 60cm. The 30Ltr is 50 cm. If you can live with the extra 10 cm overhang go with the 50Ltr as this will give you a bit of redundency with extra kit. If your a packing ninja go with the 30ltr as that will be nice and unobtrusive on the back of your Harley. I hope this (sort of helps) Please feel free to fire any other questions my way.

Hi, thank‘s for the review. how the Lomo bag reacts to the heat coming from the exhaust? kind regards, Frank
@GreenString Жыл бұрын
Good question Frank. The Givi pannier rack (as seen on the video) provided enough space for the bags not to be in any way damaged or worn by the exhaust. I can not comment on other pannier rack systems but I imagine as long as they are not physically touching and there is enough room for free air to circulate between exhaust and bag I cannot see it being a problem. 👍🏻

Hi! Great video, thanks for that. One question to the Africa Twin rider: are thise Tires Metzler Karoo Street? Because i have those on my 1150GS. They seem to be very noisy! Or it could be my back wheel bearings? 😄 The wheel has somewhat of play. But as far as i know the bmw rear wheel angle drive requires C4 bearing play. So i dont know if its normal play or if its worn. Because there is definetly some noice coming from it. Or from the tire? Greetings from Austria, Gabriel

@@GreenString hi! Thought i would let you know. So i went to the mechanic and he checked the bike. Said everything is in good condition. After that i met with my friend who has the same bike. We exchanged rear wheels and i went for a drive. Gues what, the noise was gone. So it seems like the metzler karoo street makes more noise on a 1150gs? Or maybe the wear of the tire is in a somewhat noisy condition right now? The mechanic also told me it could be that in 1000km the noise will be gone because the thread pattern will wear down... all the best!
