lol - no problem I miss a lot of things these days (almost 60) --- but hard to believe they didnt give that meter a once over especially before sending it for a review--- didnt do themselves any favors did they-? lol looks like it would have been ok otherwise, whattaya think wrong resistor used somewhere or glitch in the software ??

I bought this meter from Amazon months ago. I was one the ones who posted a review you can check on that. My meter did not have any problem, actually I am very happy with the meter performance. The input protection is not great as cat IV, but perfectly ok for home or electronics jobs. The input protection is clamping transistor, 2 ptcs and 2 small ceramic fuses is more than other cheapo multimeters. One more thing is true RMS. I hope you get better. This was no your best review.

I also have this meter and for the price I can't complain. Also the NCV test is useful in a lot of situations, when you want to trace a cable for example, it comes with a temperature probe that is always useful, it has a light that is useful for when the power is out and you are trying to search the fault, it can also measure frequency that can be useful for generators to ensure that the power output is correct. The case is well made, it has a stand, and a magnet to attach it to the device you are testing or on a ladder. Only thing I don't like is that the AC and DC voltage/current ranges are not separated (it defaults to DC and you have to press a button, annoying since I use it mostly on AC circuits) and the continuity function is shared with the resistance one (and you have to press a button). If they had made the knob bigger separating the ranges it would have been better.

I'm curious if this is a programing issue, poor solder joints or possibly the wrong parts were installed? I think it deserves further investigation. I like the magnets in the holster. That's something I've been trying to build into one of my meters because these add on magnet straps cost WAY too much.

The meter in auto range was not liking 1M it was decreasing, but it should got spot on in seconds. at 15:29 two green components are marked as PTC / PTC1 on the PCB but are really PTCs? Hope you get better .

Prayers for a successful surgery and a quick recovery!! Keep the AC running!! You need the cool air in this heat!! Go back to using the same meter leads on all reviews. It takes the variable of the leads out of the equation. Most importantly, take care of yourself, we will be here when you are feeling better!!

Looks like the common multimeter chip for cheap "good" meters (DT0660), but they forget to calibrate the Mohm range. I would have expected calibration of all range was done on some automatic rig. The lack of good protections is standard on cheap meters, but they will usual handle 230VAC, i.e. normal mains voltage (If they handle 230VAC, they will also handle 120VAC). The layout of the circuit board looks fairly good (For a cheap meter).

No no no Paul. The way you were testing meters with your own probes(the low resistance gold tip ones) was a far better way and much more fairer and accurate way to review a meter. Don't fall for peer pressure. I liked the way you used to do them. Just saying👍
@antibrevity
@antibrevity 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the stock probes should be tested as well, since that's what many buyers will be using. First, check with the stock probes, then check with the good ones. That way viewers get a sense for how good the stock probes are *and* how good the meter can be with good ones.
@keithking1985
@keithking1985 5 жыл бұрын
@@antibrevity that would be the fairest way.
@bwmovers

The wrong reading of high resistance could be caused some left of solder flux during production that's a high impedance circuit, if you noticed every time he tested the resistance was lower, a little cleaning with Isopropyl alcohol on the P circuit near the probes will fix it.

If you felt better I'd suggest measuring a range of resistances from 100k ohms through about 2 meg ohms or so in auto mode. This could be used to show the onset and trend in the resistance deviation. Just sayin'.

I've got one of these meters (under £13 from Amazon UK). I've just tested a 1M-ohm resistor and it came up as near enough 1M-ohm. I can only think that the one in this video was a rogue one. You would have thought the manufacturer would have tested it before sending it out to be reviewed!! So far mine seems ok but I really don't like the leads that were supplied....I would have prefered leads that you can screw croc clips to.

In all truthfulness it is best test the DVM with Probes Supplied. If there CHIT, there CHIT too. About your Voltage Reference . Did you get a Photo Copied sheet with Measured Output like most people ? Same Numbers LOL ? They didn't bother sending me one. The first one I receive was DOA. Took weeks to get the guy to send a replacement. I'm just assuming the Manufacturer specs are close enough + - 3 mV @ 5V with the AD584L version. Assuming the AD584L is even Original or Clone ? Would the Chines do that ? Snerk.. I have two units and both are within .001V from each other. I'm quite sure the Reference chips are in fact Authentic. Again, I'll be keeping my Mastech. Good Vid. You should be feeling better here in a hour or so. I just sent you some Good Vibs with a nominal dose of Fairy Pixie Aura Dust in the wind.

That was interesting to say the least.. I can't work out how that could be acceptable on everything else , but doubling up on 'one' value of resistor or was it just a 'Fluke' ? 🤣...Well done for gritting your teeth and doing the review Paul.. Best wishes from the UK on your op next week.. See you back here when you're recovered .. 🤞🏼

jeez Paul ..watch out for them bloody parking lot speed bumps! ..I don't know if you have them down there in the states but up here north of the border they are "everywhere"!!..in Canada they seem to think that if they put speed bumps down in the parking lots that speeders will slow down and behave ..but NO sirree!..it doesn't work that way and some mall owners have come to their senses and realized that putting in speed bumps only aggravates the problem of speeders driving thru the parking areas ..the speeders actually speed up out of frustration and aggravation from having to drive over the speed bumps ...and then ..along comes a guy like me fresh out of the hospital who has just just had some kidney stones removed and driving a jeep wrangler to pick up some groceries ..well ..it turns into a hellish painful ordeal to get over the bumps to pick up the groceries ..no matter how slow I go ..it is excruciatingly painful! ..and then ...I have to go back over the same obstacle course to get out of there! ..I felt EVERY bloody inch of every speed bump that was in that goddamn parking lot! ..I cursed the ones who thought it was a good idea and decided to put those cursed things in there!! ..I cursed them a thousand times and wished them a thousand kidney stones so they would know the pain of what it's like to have to drive over these cursed things just to get groceries! ...so take it slow Paul and if you have a friend or relative ..send them instead to get the groceries ..I didn't have anyone!
