We took some footage of exterior and some of the placards on the outside with the history of it, but was interrupted while filming and the footage came out terrible. At the end of the day, we were too far away to redo the footage for a good mention of the Tower worth it's history. We want to return to London and spend a little more time hitting up some of the local places mentioned in other comments and really take a good tour of The Tower of London.

That English breakfast looked pretty good, more of a posh version compared to the kind that youd find in a cafe in a town centre or something that locals use. A proper one can often be very big with maybe 3 of everything and include fried bread. If you want a great one, go to E Pellicci . It's been run by an eccentric Italian family for like hundred years. Its very busy but worth it. Its cash only

There are some really over critical people here! The Tower of London does have a tower, it was used as a castle, it was a prison and the site of executions, the place where the Royal Mint made the nation's coinage, and also a zoo. Calling it a Castle isn't a big mistake. By the way, did you see the statue of George Washington in Trafalgar Square? I'm amazed that he's there!

I wish Americans wouldn't say that they want to check out Tower Bridge ( not London Bridge) when the most interesting/greatest historic building in London, The Tower of London ( where the bridge gets its name ) is right next to the bridge and has been there for nearly a 1000 years! BTW, The Tower of London, it turns out, is actually a fortress although it looks for all the world like a castle.

The obsession with Tower Bridge was amusing, especially when they walked past "a castle" in order to reach it. The "castle" was, of course, The Tower of London, after which the much more modern Tower Bridge is named. It is one of the oldest and certainly the most important historical building in London. Rather like visiting the Grand Canyon and being obsessed with visiting the latest branch of McDonald's.

Has nobody told this couple about the 'so-ccalled' "Big Ben" _NOT_ actually being called "Big Ben"...?! The largest _bell_ inside and at the top of the clock_tower is actually the real _Big_Ben_. The _tower_ building itself is called the Elizabeth Tower, and was named after our late Queen Elizabeth II, on the occasion of her Golden Anniversary as our Monarch, in 2012. Previous to that, the tower was called St.Stephen's Tower. So, in viewing that tower, one should say, (instead of saying we've seen Big Ben) we've seen the Elizabeth Tower...which houses a large bell, named 'Big Ben'. Plus, Southwark is pronounced 'Suthark'.

The changing of the guard at Horseguards is nothing to do with the museum. Horseguards is the official entrance to Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace and is guarded by the Household Cavalry Regiment. On the day you were there the guard was formed by The Life Guards, formed in 1660 by Charles II. The other guard is formed by the Blues and Royals who wear Blue tunics. The Boxmen, those on horse back are changed every hour. Guards on foot are changed every 2 hours. At 4 pm there is an inspection and the the horses are returned to barracks and just troopers on foot guard the building. The building is also the HQ of the London district of the British army.

You do realise that castle you passed was the Tower of London, which was built a thousand years ago? It’s huge with over a hundred people (workers) living inside the walls. Next to the Tower (just outside the tube station) is a substantial chunk of the original Roman wall that surrounded the city, and that’s two thousand years old. You also didn’t pay much attention to St Paul’s Cathedral which is one of the finest examples of architecture in the world.

It is almost bound to be the case that everybody who was anybody - for good or ill - has been in those streets of London. Why ? Because England has always been able to fend of Revolution whilst no other European country has.
