Craig, that was very helpful. Thank you. I will definitely be experimenting with some panoramic shots very soon. (six weeks in France starting next week - woohoo! 😀) (ignore the rest... saw your other replies to similar questions) I have a question though: what's the deal with security guards and tripods? I can hike through farmland across the UK and yet some rentacop can prevent you from photographing along the banks of the Thames?! I don't get it. I spent a day with my gear in some of those same locations a few years ago and was never troubled. Best regards from Canada.

Great vlog, thanks. I'll be travelling to London in April 2018 for 8 days and plan to do a lot of photography. While I've resigned myself to copping some hassle from security about tripod use, I thought I'd try to minimise those situations by restricting my tripod use to early mornings and at night. Then I see you were hassled at 6.30am on a Sunday! In which areas can I expect the most problems?

Hi Craig. Another great video. I'm very much just starting out and love looking at how you compose your shots. I have a question about the picture at 8:40. How did you deal with the people walking through the shots without getting them in multiple shots?

Great stuff, Craig. I can't believe the security guard. 6.30 Sunday morning, no tripods .......Tosser ! I'm going to have to order the same L bracket and tripod head for my fujis, they look so lightweight and compact. Then I can start adding panoramics to my repertoire.

Craig, firstly great videos, please keep the good work up. Question I have just traded in all my Canon 5D outfit in for a Fuji X-T1, would like to try Panoramics, but what did you use to keep the camera on centre on your tripod?

Thanks Thomas. I use an Arca-Swiss type L-bracket fitted to the camera. It's made by Really Right Stuff. They do custom fits for most cameras.

Everyday is a school day, who would have guessed that the Tower of London is next to Tower Bridge!! London is another country to me. Westminster Bridge - did you think on doing a long exposure and ghosting the people on the bridge? that would be a creative effect worth trying. Either that or use the median Stack technique, which may have also worked to remove those pesky people in your shot. Enjoyed watching your videos.

Great work, thanks for it. Do you refocus after every shot while doing a panorama? At 11:42 the Building at the right hand side is much closer than the tower bridge at the left back side. I guess even at f8 they are not in the same depth of field. How did you resolve this?
@e6Vlogs
@e6Vlogs 7 жыл бұрын
Teddy Timo i manual focus before i start the panning, do every frame is the same. F8 was more than ideal for this image as there is no close foreground. It all distant subjects and so cover midground and background.

I see you used a polariser on one of your shots. I thought it might not have worked with a Panoramic, but it turned out great. Did you have to adjust it for each shot or just left it as is ?
@e6Vlogs
@e6Vlogs 8 жыл бұрын
+Geoff Gowans You have to be careful when using a polariser obviously and it's best not to polarise to much to guarantee eveness across the frames.

Craig thank you for sharing this video man you created some great images. Can I ask did you, or have you encounterd hassle about shooting with a tripod, I have seen so many videos showing security stopping photographers (PHNAT) in London and I wonder has this died down. Sending Love from Ireland and thanks for the inspiration - Sean

Yes, Sean , i often get hassled by security about tripod use. If i'm on private ground, then i respect their judgement. More often than not, im on public land and have to argue my right. All fun n games though!

Hi Craig! Really nice video and I have probably walked in these areas umpteen number of times but never really saw these panoramas in my head! You have really inspired me to go and try some shots in these places! I had quick question and your suggestion would be much appreciated: I have been practicing basic photography on and off with a Nikon D3100 but would like to invest in some new body/kit and I'm torn between Olympus Om-d Em10 mkii with 14-42mm kit lens or D7200! I have some lens collection for Nikon! Do you think I should go for Olympus or stick with Nikon APS(C)? Also any suggestions for some budget ND filters? I definitely cannot afford or justify Lee filters! Once again thanks for these videos and keep them coming!
@e6Vlogs
@e6Vlogs 7 жыл бұрын
Why not stick with the D3100 and buy a couple of filters instead? You don't have to buy all at once.
@kyshark1
@kyshark1 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I just feel that D3100 can sometimes run out options and features specially when compared to some of the new mirrorless options with all their bells and whistle (I specially like the live composite option in Olympus). I will start to invest in some quality filter as it appears to be very essential for landscape photography. Thanks for your comment and please keep doing the great job. I love your vlogs!

Hi Craig, I like many of us watch all your videos, I always like but don't comment often, I like you, admire the Olympus micro four thirds series cameras, currently I am using the Olympus OMD-E-M1 Mk1, with a variety of pro lenses coupled with a selection of Lee filters which I have learned too use with great success thanks too your wonderful videos, I am thinking of buying the Mk2 version, and would like your advice as to the advantages if any I would gain in Quality of photographs etc. keep up these marvellous videos they don't come any better, regards, Colin.

@e6Vlogs 7 жыл бұрын
colin clewley Hi Colin. I haven't used the MkII, so can't comment on the IQ. I know it has more megapixels, so it gains on that front, so it depends on what you feel you are lacking with the MK1

@e6Vlogs
@e6Vlogs 7 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be a pain. I guess they see you as a professional, possibly earning money from the shoot and therefore, if its private ground, something they could charge you for. You are also seen as a threat or a hazzard, again unnecessarily and sadly many don't know the law and think they have the right to stop you taking pictures, which in many cases is false.

Great videos. Many thanks. Just one thought though - Whats with all the "cliche" talk? You're in central London, loads of people have photographed these locations before. So what! Secondly, are you taking photos for yourself or for other photographers. The only time cliches matter. is if you're trying to impress other photographers which is kinda pointless IMO. I'd happily take a nicely lit photo of any one of those scenes. And if I enjoyed it, and it looked good on a wall, then its a winner.
@e6Vlogs
@e6Vlogs 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kieran. In response to your observation, I'm taking these pictures for myself, but also to sell, as this is my job. By avoiding cliches, I'm pushing myself photographically to achieve something new, in a much-photographed environment. It would be boring to get the same picture as everyone else, and as a creative person, I'm aiming to put my own stamp on these places. My photography is a way of showing everyone how I view the world and of course going to very pouplar places to attempt to get something new, is challenging, but all part of the fun of photography.
