Vertical panoramas... unique and brilliant..and one of your rare vlogs where you get yourself around to smile !!! ("it is fan time again"). Not being obsessed with sun rises and sun sets (with good reasons) is another trait that sets you apart.

Yes, sorry about that. No more smiling from now on!

Well done for putting up with the heat. Question; when you do a HDR panorama, would you do the HDR first or the panorama? I really liked your vertical panoramas and will be giving that I try. Many thanks.

Thanks! A very informative and entertaining video. I am planning to shoot some panoramic shots in Kauai in October and now feel more confident. Hopefully I can get what I need with my 105 and 24-70 lenses with nodal points calculated for 50 and 70 on the zoom. I hope that the heat did not warp your nodal slide. :)

Thanks for the great video. I have a question I hope you can answer. I just bought a Pan Head and "L" bracket for my Canon Rebel T3I. I have the arca fitting with a center marking on the pan head. The center of the "L" bracket on the camera is not marked either horizontal or vertical and has a slot for mounting on each side. When mounting it in landscape mode I have no trouble determining the center point because of a mark on the camera over the mounting hole, but when trying to mount it in the Portrait position I don't know how to determine the proper point to put it over the pivot point. Is it critical that it be directly over the pivot point as in landscape mode and if so can you describe a way to determine the point to be centered in the arca fitting on the head it? Thanks

Great info! 1 tip for those poor guys like me who only use (non-subscription) Lightroom (and Windows). As LR has a pixel limit for stitching (which you already reach when trying to stitch more than two medium format film pictures together): Use good old Microsoft Image Composite Editor (aka ICE). It is FREE and works marvelously on panoramas of any size. Of course also great for those who don't even use LR!

Even at your incredibly high standard this was an exceptional video. I’ll be honest, panoramics are something I avoid, though I have thought of buying a Xpan. I was given a camera with a pull string that is supposed to shoot a 360° image but I’m not sure how many frames it uses to do it and I have this thought in my head I will finish off a roll of HP5+ in about 2 seconds. Please can you tell me if you could use a macro slide as a nodal slide? Thank you for posting this video, I found it very inspiring to go out and stop avoiding challenges.

sony worked 4/10 and so far that's been about the same as my hit rate with the T2, when it works the results are acceptable for social media, not for print

step 1b :-) get a shift lens, and a free tip: not all software generate the same result, I've had (pre-shift lens) handheld panoramic images that didn't merge in the big Photoshop, but Photoshop Elements did a fine job, or even ICE, and visa versa.
@e6Vlogs6 жыл бұрын
Indeed a shift lens is a good option and I used to do this when shooting with Canon. An expensive option though!
@Rob_van_der_Linden6 жыл бұрын
They can be expensive indeed, I got mine refurbished by Nikon for less than a 2nd hand though, of course I don't know why it was refurbished, but as far as lenses go it was my best lens purchase yet :-)

photoshop does a great job generally , even if you are messy - I often stitch 4 iPhones pics into a larger 4x4 view, works quite nicely
@janmartinmathiassen62656 жыл бұрын
Speaking of stitching together and "doing a better job", I used to think lightroom did a good job of that, but I'm actually starting to think that Microsoft ICE does a much better job of it, and it has the option to export in a silverlight format if your end result is bigger than 32k either direction (which apparently is a format limit as I found out when I did 140kx42k panoramas or whatever it was I ended up with. :P
@e6Vlogs6 жыл бұрын
Jan Martin Mathiassen Yes, Microsoft ICE is getting a lot favourable comments on here. I’m gonna have to try it myself!

Could be classed as fan-tastic. (Sorry about that) Also I have found that CPL's can give very strange results. For anyone not using the Adobe programs, me for one cannot afford them, their are very good free stitching programs or Affinity photo is great.
