Zündapp motorcycle at the Royal Air Force Museum (RAF Museum) in London. Very rare second world war (WW2) Nazi German Zündapp motorcycle at the Royal Airforce Museum, London: Let's go to the world famous RAF Museum (Royal Airforce Museum) in London and let's view the most famous motorcycle motorcycle used by the German army during the second world war (WW2), the Zündapp DB 200. The motorcycles Zündapp DB 200 with tubular frame and Zündapp DBK 200 with box frame were manufactured between 1935 and 1951 by Zündapp Werke GmbH in Nuremberg . The single-cylinder two-stroke engine Zündapp DB 200 with double exhaust system is particularly characteristic of this series.
The Zündapp DB 200 motorcycle was built from 1935 to 1940 and from 1947 to 1951 as a civilian and, during the Second World War, as a military machine. Because of its robustness and reliability, it was nicknamed the “farmer's motorcycle”. With 96,499 [1] produced copies and a low purchase price DB 200 contributed to the popular motoring in Germany. The Zündapp DBK 200 was produced from 1936 to 1940 and was expensive to purchase.
Zündapp (aka Zuendapp) was a major German motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1917 in Nuremberg and the machine tool manufacturer Thiel under the name "Zünder- und Apparatebau G.m.b.H." as a producer of detonators (Zünder- und Apparatebau is German for Igniter and Apparatus). In 1919, as the demand for weapons parts declined after WWI, Neumeyer became the sole proprietor of the company, and two years later he diversified into the construction of motorcycles.

As DB200 owner I can assure You that the only way to start up the engine was to use kickstarter. There was no starter motor in these models. The battery was used to induce engine ignition - the engine does not run without the 6 volt battery.

Very interesting video of the Zundapp DB200 Motorcycle. It appears that these motorcycles were very well constructed, and the technology used in the building of these motorcycles, were well ahead of its time. By building all moving parts inside of a cashing so that the moving parts were not exposed to the elements, most probably extended the operating life of these motorcycles. Being able to drive 100 km on 3 litres of gasoline was very economical for a motorcycle of this calibre. It is too bad that the Zundapp Company went out of business in 1984, as the Zundapp motorcycle was no competition against the various Japanese firms building motorcycles. Cheaper is not always better ! This was a very interesting and informative video !

Hi Michael, thank you for your comments. I found it very challenging to create this video since I had to come to the museum on a very quiet day and it took lots of studying and research to get all the technical specifications...

This one is a much smaller bike than the Norton 750, this is only 200 cc's but carried quite a punch to it, from an acceleration perspective...
