Generally I use a wide prime lens for street photography; however, this time I went out with the Canon 55-200mm mounted on the Canon M50 Mark ii. Great video David and some brilliant shots too, glad to see you had a sunny day and no rain, have to say lately i have been taking shots from the hip in my street photography and my Panasonic has a flip out screen so take my photos looking into that and pretending i am sorting out my camera focus 😅

Personally I prefer a wider lens. I use 18mm to 90mm, but you pays your and takes your choice.

Really interesting video David! I always 'forget' to try and use this lens for street photography - I have been using the 28mm macro prime (which has image stabilisation too) a lot more recently. Maybe I am a bit aprehensive that I will be 'spotted' more with the longer lens, so it was good to see that it made no difference here. But, as you say it still isn't that obtrusive. This is an excellent lens - with lovely colours and good contrast. I really liked your shots in this. Thanks for the shout out for Philip's YT Channel - I have just subscribed. Great video! Hallo David! Really nice video, but I have one question. How do you have the courage to shove a camera in front of a stranger? I've tried street photography but I feel uneasy with a big camera taking photos of random strangers. Have you gone through this phase? If so, how did you get out of it?

Thanks. That’s a great question, I use a few techniques, I try not to make eye contact, if they notice me I often look at a scene above or beside them and point my camera as though I’m more interested in something else, I do keep on the move a lot so often they don’t even notice me. Sometimes I take the shot and then move the camera as though I’m shooting a video. The main thing is the more you do, the easier it gets. Sometimes I’m amazed how close I get, but most of the time they don’t even notice. Yes I did and still do sometimes feel I shouldn’t be doing this, I just call those my off days and just do look up shots of buildings and then might get one or two of people from a distance.
