London underground model railway 3D printed details by Timbscale

Hi all!
Ive been helping a friend come up with a range of 3D printed products to benefit us London Underground modellers, so i figured i would show you all!
These are designed and printed by Timbersurf and will very shortly be available on the Scale3D website - which is where 95% of my layouts figures are from.

First, thanks for showcasing the product Eric! The tape idea is a good one! Great to see my vision in place on a layout, it does look brilliant, even if I do say so myself. All the parts, in several bridge handings, a number of cable types not shown and a few other bits , like hooked hangers, will be available hopefully by the end of January 2023. Trip cocks and Low relief garages should also be available late Jan. The complete range of walling is currently available now!

Apart from four rails, nothing says “The Underground” like those cable runs and arches! Love the walls and garages too. Really gets that Metroland feel of places like Pinner, Ruislip etc.

That would be something I would do! Paint the orange cable from either end and realise they don't meet up 🤣🤣🤣

Excellent work Eric, where do you find the time? Do you have any plans to add the compressed air lines? I think there are pipe structures either to cool the compressed air or drain moisture. Fantastic work

I work shifts and a lot of nights so often have a few hours in the day to plod along. Yeah i havent got the air main in there, for the effort of doing it im not sure i will if im honest, 99% of people wont notice 😂

Hi Eric 👍 the cable runs look fantastic. Another great tip with the masking tape for the drilled post never thought of that and like you say it’s an absolute pain trying to find the holes. Can I ask a question? Why did they have the cable runs on the underground? The rest of the network have the in concrete trunking. Thanks for sharing Andy

Cheers Andy, yeah i just randomly thought of it and it worked perfect! Obviously if you havent ballasted/grassed yet then no need but for me it was a game changer. If im completely honest i cant actually remember, its probably to do with the tunneled sections and space constraints id imagine.

The cable arches are fantastic, but I notice that all you have shown are left handed (nearside cables come from the left and far side go off to the right). Can they be made right handed (nearside cables come from the right and far side go off to the left)?

Yes mate they can be configured the opposite way round you would just have to order the orientation you need

ive got to say eric you are the sole reason im going to have a underground section to my future layout (moving house) going to model ealing broadway which i think is the only station with a main line and underground lines, ive now got a couple of 38 stock dc ,can you recommend a dcc decoder sound plux 22 going to need a few , ps the cable trunking arches look amazing apart from the LU roundel the trunking says straight away london underground...........tony

Hi eric. building a tt120 model of acton wells. I believe central line goes underneath can you inform what drive rails i need to use and what clearance i need to leave under the br line. Thanks

Although TT isnt something il be getting into, that sounds interesting and will be good to see. As for sizes i couldnt really say, other than use a steam engine or something to measure up for clearance (they are quite tall)
