I visited London in April of 2018 and I loved everything about it. Being an American from LA, I loved every moment of it and would return to London every year since I can't live in London. I know the french have a phrase called "je ne sais quoi" for anything you can't describe. But there's something like that with London. I just can't describe it.

Black is worn as it is deemed smart, also in cooler weather. Black.is slimming. England is a cold country, people tend to put weight on more during the winter months. Black is subdued, we don't like garish colours that don't suit the weather.

One of my favourite walks, although I continue down Oxford Street to Hyde Park. As for a lot of comments, this was obviously filmed during a cold period like Winter which accounts for the dull overcast look and all the black coats. This is a tourist area as well, over a mile of shops plus surrounding roads, so a lot of the people you see are tourists, not Londoners. The construction at the start is part of the over-spill of the massive Crossrail project including building new stations while the area is still used. Walk it in Summer, or Xmas time, and it'll blow your multi-coloured socks off.

It says the walk was in February. Winter clothes in Britain are almost always dark.In the summer its much more colourful, lots of white about as well. Nice to see the sun out in winter as well, its usually dull, though doesnt rain as much as most of the rest of Britain, including where i live!!

If you check their vehicle colors, it is also mostly black . to make sure that it is visible in winter seasons. other colours are not as dark as black. I really do not know why they're wearing black. Peace

As a music junkie, I experienced London in 1982 and shopped the Virgin Records store. No CD's, just records and an in-store snack bar with seating. I shopped the Virgin Mega Store in NYC in 1998 as well. But in London, there were no corporate retail stores back then that I can remember. No Levi's or Puma etc.

My first job in September 1966 was as a Graphic Arts Junior at Fleet Illustrating, on the top floors of G.S. Gerard's Advertising Agency two doors up from the London Palladium in Argyll Street (@9:19); it's changed a lot, as has the whole of the West End Oxford Street never quite rivalled Regent Street or Bond Street for class, but there used to be some very respectable department stores like Marshall & Snelgrove, which have gone now, though even then there were dodgy geezers selling stuff out of suitcases who'd melt into the crowd at the first sign of a policemen.' Carnaby Street was still "swinging" and not yet the tourist trap it's become now (though the King's Road was where the real "followers of fashion" were heading to). We saw some of the bands coming for stage clothes at boutiques like "Lord John". We were having lunch in a cafe in Foubert's Place off Carnaby Street when the "Tremeloes" walked in, and the Bee Gees turned up in a big white open Rolls Royce to switch on the Carnaby Street Christmas lights. I had to go out to collect artist's materials from a store in Broadwick Street.in Soho, which was a very different place back then, and a real eye-opener to a young lad from the suburbs just out of school!
