Thank you ever so much for showing us the path way from Victoria Station to Buckingham Palace. Had no idea. I love the adventure. Thank you again. Best wishes.

Thank you so much for the video. I lived in London during the fifties and often walked along Buckingham Palace Road usually following the soldiers who marched from Chelsea Barracks to Buckingham Palace to start their turn guarding The Queen. Left London in 1959 and only returned there in 2007, the first thing I did was walk from my hotel close to Victoria Station to Buckingham Palace. Now I have a visual record of that walk. Once again thanks for posting the video.

Thank you so much for your lovely reply. There is something special about following those soldiers as they make their journey to the palace. I imagine it has changed rather a lot since 1959 so I am glad this video still captures the look and feel of everything. Angela

2015 we got lost from the Palace to Vic station found an out of the way pub and then our grandson found the way mind you there was so much construction work happening about the entrance then got our tickets to Eastbourne on a busy train, I love travelling especially coming over to the Uk from New Zealand my wife has lived in the UK before and even she got lost, the day we came into Vic from eastbourne we were heading up to Camden Town, she hates the UG but we got on one and got lost again its part of the fun, just love sight seeing time for us to return again maybe near christmas to see the lights love how the British do their Christmas lights

What a lovely story, if you know what I mean. I know, we've all done it, probably far too many times, but getting lost is what makes travel, well, travel! Thank you for sharing that and I hope you get to enjoy the London Christmas lights:)

I used to travel by Nat Exp coaches and have walked this road so many times. I'm loving your back catalogue and hope to see you on HeyGo soon x

Hey there Anne, lovely to hear from you and I'm so glad to hear my back catalogue is worthwhile viewing! I must admit it's quite odd walking around places like Victoria when it is so tied to past memories of travelling in and out of London. Re: Heygo, I'm not sure that my type of walks are quite right for that platform - the guides there are so incredibly experienced and knowledgeable that if I put in a solid year's worth of research I would never reach their level. So in the new year I'll decide if I can create some walks that are worthwhile or whether to withdraw as a Heygo guide. I hope you are well. All the best, Angela

Lovely video. Thanks a ton. Took me back to the days of travelling by the 11 no bus from London Victoria to Trafalgar on many an occasion. Down Whitehall if I'm not mistaken. Almost 2 decades ago.

Hmmm, the truth lies in the editing on this one! Most of Buckingham Palace got edited out due to an enormous party of school kids plus someone being gross (don't ask). Such a sweet sight though with that chap getting his medal. As always, thank you for your kind words:)

How long does this walk take. I'm taking my grand daughter in June. She is 16. But I am 70. 😁And I have a lot of trouble with my knee. Is there a shorter way of getting there by bus or tube. We staying near the Victoria tube .
@ChattyWalkswithAngela4 жыл бұрын
Hey there Nan Owen, lovely to hear from you and I hope you have a great time in London when you are here in June:) I sympathise regarding the knee - I just used my endlessly aggravated right knee as an excuse to buy new trainers today! Buckingham Palace is not directly serviced by public transport - the two nearest underground stations are Victoria or Green Park, both of them flat walks to the Palace (I have done a walk on this channel from Green Park station to Buckingham Palace). The walk is around 10-15 minutes; Green Park has less people to dodge as you walk as it is straight through the park. There are a couple of bus routes that go near the Palace and tomorrow morning I hope to try out one of them - the number 11 bus - which is an iconic London route taking us past many of the top tourist sites. Also, if you are using one of the organised bus tours for a 'hop on, hop off' service, then it is worth checking out the 'Big Bus London' website for their tour routes - looking on their 'find a bus stop' pages, there seems to be a red route and an orange route from their tours that you could also use from Victoria that gets you reasonably close to the Palace. I hope that is helpful. I'm off now to read up on the number 11 bus route and work out where is the best spot to get on it around Victoria. Angela

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela hi thank you so much. I will try and see if there is a bus closer. . But I see from your walk. We can do a few stops to rest on the way. I love following your walks. Thanks so much for your prompt reply. God bless Nan
@ChattyWalkswithAngela4 жыл бұрын
@@nanowen4 Hello there and thank you for your kind comment👍 I went to Victoria today and filmed in the station. It seems no buses go to the Palace. Some head towards Hyde Park Corner so could take you a little closer. But generally I agree with you, take a few stops while walking, it is a direct route to the Palace and you don't need to take my longer version. I also filmed the ticket counters plus a machine to buy oyster cards - the best way to travel if you are there for a few days. I also took the no 11 bus from Victoria right across London and many of the main sights. A very enjoyable ride! These videos will be uploaded in the next couple of weeks. Angela
