I took the red pill almost 3 years ago and deactivated my Facebook account. I no longer care about social validation through these websites. I do miss seeing some people on there occasionally but overall feel relieved of the fake and toxic people who can so easily disrupt your mood or how you feel about yourself. Good riddance!

Interesting 😃 On the whole I like social media but I do try to limit my consumption as it can be quite a tiring space to be in.

@@leeoliver2969 that really wont disrupt you tho. its deactivated by that time and you can go be a normal person before and after the time limit. that time limit is only there just in case you change your mind. you're already let go once you deactivate.

In these times, the desire to be “liked” overwhelms a LOT of people’s lives. It’s so pathetic. And very deeply sad. How depressing...
@remotefaith4 жыл бұрын
Hasnt it always?
@LondonCityGirl4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think there's always been a desire to be liked ... it's human nature ... people may go about it in different ways but most people want to be liked. It feels good to be popular but add social media into the mix and the constant comparison it ushers in and it can be a recipe for disaster.
@SteveG-l7d2 жыл бұрын
It's a slippery slope! You'll eventually get to where other countries are and you're points will be more important than honesty, morals and integrity! People will start snitching on each other to get points. Think about another country that already has a social credit system and how well it's working for them!

Considering how China has applied a similar social credit system onto it's citizens, Nosedive is Black Mirror's most prophetic episode.

It’s closer to home than people want to admit. Credit scores are virtually the same thing as this; only certain people have access to certain things based on how well they perform
@xiaozenni48433 жыл бұрын
The Chinese social credit system is aimed so that scam businesses won’t operate. For example, a lot of restaurants violate health laws and ignore when they are warned and this system is there to prevent that business from operating. It’s more similar to the credit system if you ask me. We’re restricted from many things because of our actions, and that all goes into account when buying houses/cars etc. Sometimes it really sucks because people do grow, but sometimes it makes sense. It’s hard to find a balance.

Nosedive's world is far more sinister than govt control though, because a person's life, job, mode of transport etc. can literally be decided by the whims of impulsive strangers. A govt won't punish you for not smiling, saying a bad word etc. Citizens in authoritarian govt systems know what the "rules" are and the consequences for disobedience are clear. I actually lived in China for 3 years (2014-2017) and it can actually feel quite "safe" if one understands the system, because there is no mass rioting, terrorist bombs or gun violence. The one thing I disliked was the lack of internet freedom (youtube/gmail can't be opened there), but overall most people are genuinely kind, caring, hardworking, curious and cultured; they are not fake like the people in this Black Mirror episode.

I'm proud to have 500! I earned them with honest Tweets. People who buy - always have about 5,000 Following and Followers - dead give-away. I just block anyone who begs for Followers to help them reach 15, 60, or 250,000 Followers - like that is validation... How many will read them, and answer back?

i use to work for a Chinese company and we were ranked. based on our rankings would determine how much pay we would get. I cannot tell you how unbelievably stressful it was, putting on a fake smile everyday and trying to please everyone just so I can make money to pay my bills. And even though I would do my very best to be super nice and work well I would sometimes get a low rating just cuz a client didn't like me and it would drop my pay....like my life was so fake, putting on the fake smile and I was so stressed cuz I sometimes didn't' have enough to pay my bills...it was horrible...and we need to all wake up and realize how terrible this social credit system is and never allow it here in the west.

I quit posting on Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook (who uses facebook anyways) along time ago. I dont take pictures and videos to post. I take pictures and videos for myself for memories or I dont even take them at all. I rather live for the moment and take in whats going on and be happy. I still have Instagram and twitter on my phone, but in folders not in individual apps. This keeps me from being tempted to even click on the apps. I still have them for news and for old friends to contact me. We don't have anything to prove to people. People dont care what we're doing every minute of our lives or what new item we got

Interesting take 😁 I personally like social media ... hence making videos on YT for a decade and my full time job is as head of video for a social media company. But I think different people can be affected by it differently and it can foster a lot of unhealthy comparison as is the case for Lacie in this Black Mirror episode. On the whole I feel the benefits of social media outweigh the negative but there are lots of people like you who feel differently 😁

id like to comment - i think that lacey had feelings for naomi. the way she screams "i love you, i always have," the way that naomi shows off her body as well as her fancy home, and lacey's overall obsession and infatuation with naomi despite how cruelly she was treated. i think that this speaks or hints to lacey having some kind of feelings for her.
