Great tips!! Thanks. Oh, some editing tips: to show the power of a punch instead of a super zoom + hard camera shake + high contrast + rgb desync (prism), which I think looks strange and non-realistic, try do small zoom + agitated but minimal camera shake + desaturation + vignette + motion blur (no rgb please!). I believe that would simulate better the visual effect of getting punched. Wish I could link you to some example but none came to mind. Hope it helps :)

This is golden. So glad you focus on the solar plexus, it is overlooked. If the guy doesn't drop after that he will at least be stunned and you can sweep the leg and thrown him down hard. Good stuff.
@fightscience8 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. It's a brilliant fighting technique which many people miss when at close range. As you said if it doesn't work, there are still so many ways you can fight back to defend yourself, including punching high, sweeping or clinching. Thanks again for watching.

Yes I'm liking that. Ppl won't be expecting that. I've also been told that if a big person has a big stomache sticking out, punch down from top of his stomache where it starts to stick out. But been told if done right it can cause intestines to twist up and do serious damage and can be fatal. If true but your life is in danger then worth a shot.

I go with a palm thrust, but that's just my personal preference, for me I get more power out of it, I think my body instinctively holds back on punches for protection. It's why I've looked into investing in some sap gloves, the buckshot variety, add a little pow to my fist, while not being deadly like brass knucks. Also I never try to start a fight, if I can talk myself out of a fight I try to, I already know me... I can seriously hurt someone if I lose control, and I try never to let that happen. (I trained in martial arts and boxing when I was younger, I'm also autistic and I'm hyposensitive to touch, which means I can ignore pain to an insane degree (when I passed a kidney stone it didn't hurt... it felt like pressure and release) and I know anatomical weak points in the human body) I'm not saying I can win any fight, but I already know I can do serious harm, far more than I want.

Hi! Does anyone here think that you shoud hit the opponent BEFORE he is 'in your face'. Many say that you should hit him the moment he enters your hitting range because he might have a weapon or a buddy who is waiting to hit you while you are distracted by the first. Is this better, or is it legally too soon to be claimed self defence at an eventual trial? Great video, super moves, thanks!

Good punch. I use the two big knuckles and twist the wrist on impact. Couple things. Short power is one of the trickier things to develop. Yours is pretty good. For hooker cuts and really all punches I have students stand in front of a bag or mitt w their punching hand two or three inches from target. Here is the tricky part: Torquing the waist BEFORE any shoulder or arm movement. Then allowing this power to flow uninterrupted into shoulder and pulling it through. There should be a snapping w shoulder like an elastic band. This is pretty high level stuff to perfect and takes some dedication. Most coaches show turning the hip and shoulder over at the same time. Adequate, but not the same as the above described timing. I do like the pre emotive strike concept . In fact, if you are that close, you’d better be first!

Hit hard enough here and you would end most fights, with the added bonus that the other guy is not hurt seriously and an assault charge is unlikely to stick (assuming you were in a self defence situation, and had tried to deescalate before resorting to a strike).

0:52 I didnt have wraps when I first started hitting the bag, had to be careful. But found that if I hit horizontal fist, I'd hit the index finger's door knocking knuckle and it would stress and hurt my wrist. Or if I got lazy and didnt turn my bottom knuckles up properly, with that kinda "cocking the grenade" motion, it would hit the index door knuckle and again strain the wrist. Isolating the one knuckle sends all the force down to the wrist, through one bone. Instead of the force going through three bones, forming a triangle

Thank you as transgender person I am sadly in physical danger nearly everyday just going about my business, MINDING my own business. It seems random men (always guys in a group) feel the need to get into my space. Luckily nothing too bad has happened. Sadly one of my trans sisters was badly beaten just because she caught the wrong bus & met up with a group of men who couldnt just leave an individual alone. My girl didnt provoke them, look at them, mouth off at them, nothing. My dear friend is 22 she is 50 kilos & 4 ft nothing & was beaten to a pulp because she is black & transgender. She is very unspringable which caused the hate once they realized she was trans. She begged the 5 men to leave her alone as she had gone to a late night chemist to buy her Mums asthma medicine. She caught the last bus home sadly coming across these 5 "real men". Fast forward she now is a quadraplegic in a wheel chair with brain damage she was about to graduate with a nursing degree because she wanted to help her black community The 5 men were never caught. So thankyou for this tip for protecting myself & hopefully my girls. I would only use this to wind the guy to allow me to escape. I volunteer at a homeless youth shelter teaching these great young men & women about treating others who are "different" with respect & dignity that all of us as Human beings deserve. God Bless. Though my next question is what to do if approached by a group?

Great video Sifu but I'd also suggest that rather than waiting for the aggressor to crumple from the one shot that you follow up with a knee or palm strikes to the back or side of the head or a throw because you're not going to know that your one strike is the TKO shot. In the heat of the moment maybe you can't be cool enough to wait until the aggressor is breathing in for the perfect knock the wind out of him blow so you have to be prepared with 2 or 3 follow up shots to finish the job or do the one hand on the back of the neck and other hand spinning him to a circular throw.

another reason to keep your head down is because it doesn't expose the throat, which is a very vital and fragile part of the human body. When you keep your head up is exposes the throat and makes it a large target, and any smart fighter will attack you there to end the fight quickly. hard to fight back and generate power when you cant breath.
