I played this song with my wind ensemble in high school (2009-2013) and it sounds so beautiful to this day. I’m almost 30 and still remember every rehearsal. This is a phenomenal performance.

I'm in my early teens and I have to play this piece in front of so many people and as a percussionist this is extremely hard to count, definetly the hardest piece I have ever played

It was easy on flute. I barely squeaked into symphonic band as a junior, so I was grateful. I remember how our band director was always yelling at the percussion during this song. He called them rock heads 😂. In his defense, only one of them could read sheet music.

The struggle playing this song as a percussionist is real. Having to count 2 + 3 + 2 +2 for every measure really sucks. Also, the musical queues in this song are hard to hear so you have no choice but to count lol. Eventually, you get used to the rhythm and you just know where to start.

One of the most complicated pieces of music to learn. We had to learn and perform it in a week as teenagers for U of D band camp our high school teacher convinced us to join because they didn't have a full low brass section. Speaking of which, Dude, trigger trombones? That's a no for me, but I was also known as being the jazz chick who kept swinging the eighth notes throughout high school. I have no regrets. Should've taken it up with the first chair; wait, you just tried 😉🤣.
