For about 2 seasons I've been using the out on a limb ridge runner XL. I drilled and tapped the braket that had the teath on it so the rod i use for my beast sticks will thread into it. I put straps on the ridge runner XL and a foam seat pad gets strapped to it for cushion between the platform and my back.

Ive tried very hard to review the newest stuff on the market for mobile hunting, it has been very expensive and my channel overall is still in the RED but it’s a fun hobby and it lets me try out all the new gear. I do sell a lot of the gear I review eventually when Im done making videos with it. Its super fun hobby but also its getting to the point where I just cant keep up financially. I love the concept and was actually trying to fabricate something like this myself (but was unsuccessful). The only issue I see with this design is the very short seat height. The small platform would work very well with a high seat height because it would be similar to sitting on a barstool. The issue with having a high seat height is that you need to change the seat pivot point to get it to function as a knee pad. Overall I’m glad to see these different companies take swings on these unique products
@MichiganGreatOutdoors9 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree, the seat is low. but if it's any taller now you're adding a bit of weight into an already 6.5lb platform (with seat) So Id assume that's why it is so short, unfortunately it is what it is and I don't think you can really do a lot more without making it too heavy....

Luv this idea!!!! I run a saddle platform right now and as a hybrid I use a trusty old Loc-on Windwalker as my hybrid setup. Now I’ve switched to a traditional bow this yr and my form at the moment requires me to use a loc-on at this point. The saddle platform causes me to short draw more often then now when I shoot trad. Compound I can shoot fine but trad requires my feet to be my base. Been looking to buy a .5 but this review may have me changing my mind. I looked at the new novix hybrid stand too would be nice to see your review of that one as a comparison. Again great review and as always luv your reviews and hate them at same time!!!!! Luv them as they are some of the most through and great detail but hate them as my wallet gets thinner on a regular basis after watching them!!!!!!
@MichiganGreatOutdoors9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment, I always try and show products with hunting in mind and actually harvesting deer from them.... This thing would be able to do that flawlessly, I thought about getting the novix but will have to see. Review budget is kinda low this year lol.... hahaha SO I feel ya on the money issues lol
@pathfinder58049 ай бұрын
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors so I see this Ranger is same $$$ as the .5. Is it worth a little less platform for same $$$? For same money I feel like the .5 is little more versatile since you have to make adjustment to carry this in. Meaning you need to make it ride higher on your back. I run a mystery ranch popup 28 and my stand, platform and sticks all run in the meat shelf. I was looking to possibly subtract the pack using the .5 as it would sit in same position as my pack while walking in. For bow season it’s really not to cold so no need to bring multiple extra layers or no need for all day sits. That’s where I was hoping to minimize once again.
@MichiganGreatOutdoors9 ай бұрын
If I only could choose one for the rest of my life id choose the .5 because I feel like it covers everything.
@BelowAverageRazzleDazzle9 ай бұрын
Wow, that is a cool product. I would take a hack saw to the seat posts to keep them out of my back though... since they serve no purpose on this stand. I do hunt mostly out of a stand - the 1.0. I have a saddle rig and a Predator platform. But I never dug having the face the tree 100% of the time and I never liked the weak side shots. But this.... this little stand may be just the ticket to have me in the saddle more.
@MichiganGreatOutdoors9 ай бұрын
The little thing that sticks out is for the seat angle adjustment. You cant just cut that off... Im trying to find a solution myself.
@BelowAverageRazzleDazzle7 ай бұрын
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors I see. you know, maybe take a small piece of pool noodle and just throw it over the tree bracket for the hike in/out. The noodle can rest in the small of your back and should be enough padding. May just need to beef up the inside of the noodle a bit so the bracket doesn't chew it up. Nothing some stealth strips can't take care of..
@jcmcubic34898 ай бұрын
Needs a way to attach a hip belt to it for carry. Trekking up a mountain with layers/pack/etc on the stand, a hip belt carries the weight rather than shoulders. Easier and helps with balance. If rigged right, it would also keep the post off the low back. It's easy to do with a .5 this may be a little tougher.

I will be totally honest. I didn't even think about that....

This one is quite a bit lighter as well as more solid. The novix is heavier and bulkier but also more affordable so there are trade offs for sure. Id call the Novix like a mid grade option and the ranger the Cadillac.

I can’t tell in the video but does your versa button rest on the platform when it’s folded or does the post? I watched another video and his button rest on the platform. So if that’s the case it should push the post out a little bit and maybe not dig into the back?
@kyledobson16076 ай бұрын
