It's from the Forest Seasons album, their newest album, where one song represents one season of the year. :)

This is the best song I've ever heard. Although this song is incredibly beautiful, it's a very strong contrast to the previous song in the album: Eternal Darkness (Autumn), which is a very brutal black metal (yes, really) song. It's a song about death, narrated by Death himself, very intense and even personal, since Jari's father died during autumn time and Finnish autumns are very dark. It is my interpretation that Loneliness (winter) is a kind of continuation to the autumn song since after death comes the loneliness, sorrow and regret to those who are left behind. It makes sense at least to me.

You didn't say much during the song but your body told everything. Very awesome reaction! Thank you. Very much looking forward to see you react to more Wintersun.

+Patralgan Thank you! I'm not a fan of talking during the listening portion. I think it is important to perceive and hear everything that was recorded by an artist/band. Imagine going to an art gallery and closing your eyes while walking through half of it. I don't want to miss any note as it could effect the course and my view of the song!

Beau Cardwell right on! To me hearing this song the first time was extra emotional since during the autumn song I got the news that Chester Bennington had died.

Beau Cardwell I already hold this album as legendary. All the three albums are stellar. Although the debut album "Wintersun" is quite old (released in 2004) and hence more modest in production technically but man, the creativity and passion, the care and love in making the songs is just amazing. So amazing in fact that I used to dislike metal but that album made me see the light and appreciate metal. The first experience with that album was like suddenly dipping into a hole in frozen lake and getting embraced by the harsh coldness of the winter. I was instantly hooked to the album and I used to listen to it on repeat all the time (like I do now with the new album "The Forest Seasons") "Time I" album is of course also very dear to me and judging from what we know and have heard from the future album "Time II", I have no doubt it will be the best album yet, but it will most likely still take a few years before it's released.

Most genuine reactions are the ones with expressions and body language speak much more than words. That's why I like your channel. You feel the songs.

You should react to Time from Wintersun, such an epic song. Maybe even my favorite from Wintersun, though it's kinda hard to compare with Loneliness. They have a live studio rehearsal from that song also. Excited to see how you feel about it :)

Man, there are so many great songs. The first album was epic, with the opening riff of "Beyond The Dark Sun" you are captured. Winter Madness, Battle Against Time, Starchild, Death and Healing, Sadness And Hate every song is the best song. 8 years later, second Album... different...but although amazing... Sons Of Winter an Stars, Time, Land Of Snow and Sorrow...great. now The Forest Seasons now...Awaken From The Dark Slumber, The Forest That Weeps, Eternal Darkness and Loneliness...it´s insane, but every song i ever heard from Wintersun is insanely awesome...

Holy cow, you looked like you were about to burst into tears for a second there. So nice to see people appreciate this kind of music for what it really is. Wintersun is truly unique and in a league of its own.

The best song of the record and one of the best that Wintersun has ever done. And as Land of Snow and Sorrow from the last album it's an very beautiful and passionate song. I love the lyrics and the way that Jari uses his voice in this song is just...perfect. Great reaction man
@MountainMetal5 жыл бұрын
Excellent review! Jari's talent is not of this world. He can write the music, and the lyrics, and sing, and play every instrument, and work the recording equipment, and do the album art, and make amazing videos... EVERYTHING. And you were right to give the song every second of atention to the very end, because that much love and passion went into creating it, and into all they do. Strongly suggesting 'Winter Madness', live, remastered from Tuska, and anything from the live Sonic Pump studio sessions. Amazing guys, the whole band.

Now you're ready for Franz Schubert - Winterreise (Fischer-Dieskau version IMHO) Sorry I was only half-joking cause I've listened to this song yesterday evening outside while having a coffee and though it was like 20°C I was truly shivering. TY SO MUCH guys and Beau -and sir Devin Towsend!-, had never listened to one of their song and this one absolutely hooked me, I even should say crushed me. HAVE to check their other songs, I feel I won't be disappointed.
@zenbra_deutsch35005 жыл бұрын
This song is soul wrenching, mind blowing. The vocals are superb and matched with the masterful lyrics. Instruments it's amazing. It ressonates with so much of my own personal feelings and questions. "I almost reached home, I was so close... But to be left alone is what hurts the most." "Home" for me would be happy, not depressed nor manic. I get so close to be joyful and stable just to fall apart again. And again. In a lonely process.

Been watching some of your react videos, respect. You being a musician clearly gives you a deeper understanding and appreciation then other reactors. Huge fan of gojira and meshuggah. You've been doing gojira justice, now check out some meshuggah ;) I have an unusual recommendation for you, that I think you might appreciate. It's a weird mix of instruments, guitar+bass+violin+drums+percussion+custom instruments+male+female vox. Wiki - "Experimental rock, avant-garde metal, progressive rock, progressive metal" It's dark music that has theatrical elements. Words can't describe the uniqueness they created, you just have to try it. It's hard to suggest where to start since everything is so vastly different, but I'll recommend 1 from each album, newest to oldest. Forget any music videos, just enjoy the long crescendos that build ;) Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Companions (In Glorious Times) Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - FC: The Freedom Club (Of Natural History) Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - Sleep Is Wrong (Grand Opening & Closing) Keep up the good work,

BTW, the correct pronunciation of Jari is Yari. The Finnish J is very soft but R is very hard, much like the R in Spanish language.

His surname, Mäenpää... That's a trickier one. The Ä is pronounced like A in the word "hat" and "ää" is the same but longer.

Oh wow this was a good song! Listened it for the first time from this video. I was a fan of when their first album came out, you should check that out too. Their second album was too "heroic" for my taste. But this album seems to be awesome! Jari's vocals have improved A LOT! Love the lyrics too. This songs atmosphere describes our Finns mentality very well, at least how we (or at least me) are on the winter. It's dark, cold, everything is black & white and depressing but still kinda hopeful. You said it well on the video. From their first album, check out "Beautiful Death." It's more heavier song than what you have listened so far. And listen the album version, none of the live versions ain't that good. Their first album was released on 2004. The album was completely recorded by only Jari (everything else but drums) and Kai Hahto (drums) Next Devin eh? "DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT - Juular (OFFICIAL VIDEO)"
