A lonely chocolate labrador whose best friend passed away couldn’t hide her excitement when she was surprised with a new puppy companion. Owners Tara and Charlie, from Marin County, California, noticed seven-year-old Cadie had started looking and feeling sad and lonely since 13-year-old bestie Flicka passed away last year. The family had always had two dogs, which, their daughter Amy said, meant each dog could keep the other company with a "built-in best friend." And so, to lift Cadie’s spirits and provide a companion to love and play with, the family decided to adopt another Labrador puppy named Nami. Having collected Nami, they then wanted to surprise Cadie, so they momentarily placed the puppy in a box and waited for the seven-year-old pooch to approach. Cadie began to wag her tail with delight when she sniffed the box and as the lid popped off to reveal who was waiting inside, her tail wags went into overdrive.

I didn’t expect to fall in love with her for many reasons, I just got her because I wanted to do something in Princesses name. A few weeks later I looked up at the sky and thanked Princess because I started to love my new older dog. Since where Princess is-is love she was happy to see us. Now there will be an extra dog in heaven and we will all be happy for eternity. New love doesn’t take away from older love❤️

I’m so happy for both dogs please adopt dogs at shelters i always tell people this there are more dogs waiting. A lot of people don’t know this but if a dog does not get adopted in 365 days a full years they will put it down my whole family and by boyfriends family only adopts at shelters. Please do this only true animal lovers do.

When my Dad got very sick and needed round-the-clock hospital care, his Greyhound named Angel became so lonely and depressed. I adopted a 5-month old Lab mix puppy from the local Humane Society specifically for Angel. From the moment I brought Bella home, Angel was smitten. Those two became inseparable, thick as thieves, the best of friends. Angel had strong maternal instincts, and was instrumental in helping me train Bella. Dad passed away in 2020, and Angel passed away from aggressive bone cancer in 2022. It was a sad day for Bella, but she is almost 6 years old and is a happy, bouncy girl. We miss Dad and Angel every day.

We got a second dog for our first when I had to be out of the house to work. It made his life! He loved the new puppy to distraction, and they remained closer than I can describe until he passed away. She was so despondent. I loved them both so much and miss them terribly. Lovely story!
