A Full Rear Cabview Ride on Amtrak's Texas Eagle from Fort Worth to Austin, Texas! Footage is for the most part uncut, except for long stops at stations and out on the rails. Enjoy!
I also apologize if the audio is a little wild at times, one of the wheels on the rear bogey either had a flat spot, or wasn't sitting right in the frame, which meant it was rather loud at higher speeds.

Thank you for sharing this great video. I rode the "Texas Chief" numerous times between Temple, TX and Chillicothe, IL in the 1950's and 1960's. It is interesting to see how much the segment from Ft Worth to Temple has changed. Code lines are gone, semaphores are gone, searchlights are gone, jointed rail is gone, and rural depots (train orders) are gone. Now everything is welded rail, and the sidings have been extended. I also enjoyed seeing the former M-K-T mainline from Temple, TX to Taylor, TX. I rode the "Texas Special" from Waco, TX to San Antonio, TX in 1963. The train used M-K-T trackage from Granger to Georgetown to Pflugerville to Austin. Due to the railroad's financial problems, there had been years of deferred maintenance. The train speeds were down to 30 to 40 mph in places, and the ride was very rough. Except for the freight congestion at Round Rock, Amtrak did very well the day you created your video. BNSF did a great job of giving the "Texas Eagle" a high green from Ft Worth to Temple. I hope to see more of your videos in the future.

Plot twist: You don't own a tripod and you stood at the rear of the train holding the camera perfectly still for 4 hours!

Love finding vids that go through my favorite fanning spots.. Those of you not familiar with this area, the Station with the old locos & cars is the Temple Railroad and Heritage museum. The old depot is a model train club. Next stop is Taylor yard. That red building to the left, after passing under the street, is a famous BBQ joint that was historically segregated. Also a good view of the 79 through Hutto and Taylor, along with a great shot of the Hutto Co-op.

Around 2:17:10 is where the train switches over to UP tracks from BNSF tracks? If not, where?

Moving onto the exchange track at 2:18:57. Before 1988, the line from here to Taylor was part of the MKT main.
