I gotta say, this must be the most straightforward and comprehensive tent review I've seen. I'm in market for starting camping/hiking myself and I've been consuming camping related videos like there's no tomorrow for the past few weeks and your video made me finally make a decision on the tent, thank you for that !

@@mobilewintercamp7515 Only had it a few months and I'm in the UK. Would happily use it in the snow and build a snow wall around the tent so snow/hail doesn't go under the fly. It won't be as warm as other tents as the inner is purely mesh, but that's not an issue.

Great review! You missed one aspect, on the foot end of the tent, the outer fly can be folded back up and secured with toggles when its not rainy. Allows for major ventilation and ability to view outside through the mesh! I've tested this myself and it is a cool feature.

Thanks for the in depth and clear review- it fully confirms my view of this tent, but... there's a secret feature with this tent- the 'foot end' end the fly can be rolled back to the first pole and there are toggles to hold it back on the underside of the fly sheet near the seam for the pole-sleeve. This makes foot end into a big viewing window and ventilation aid in good weather. I've had this tent for a couple of years now and I think it is a great three season tent and for a change, genuinely a two person tent. The porch is a big bonus in this tent's design- you can sit up, cook, get changed in the dry without messing up the inner with mud and water. A small groundsheet for the porch is useful if you plan to stay at the same spot for a while in wet weather. The fly stretches with the rain and dew so tensioning is often necessary but also extremely straightfordward. I've used it for bike touring and hiking. It is compact enough and light enough for both, although I prefer a smaller footprint for when discretion is required. You can actually get a bike in the porch area- with the wheels removed and there's still enough room in the inner tent for all your gear and leave plenty of room to sleep comfortably- it really is very roomy! A versatile bargain.

How do you convert to a hot tent?
@MFRiley
@MFRiley 2 жыл бұрын
Would you consider this a 4-season tent? I see that you've had it out in the winter, and I weigh your opinion on outdoor gear highly... I just watched another review of this tent in which the reviewer explicitly stated many times that this is not a 4-season tent. I understand that maybe this isn't the very best tent that one could take out in the winter, but would you go so far as to say that this is NOT a 4-season tent? I understand that labeling a tent as 4-season can be a bit arbitrary... What I'm really curious about is whether the gap between the fly and the ground, paired with the large amount of mesh on the inner will lead to noticeable drafts when in cold weather. Also, I'm curious how well this would hold up in a snow storm, assuming the user cleared the snow off the tent from time to time.

I'm pretty keen about this tent, so, thanks for your thorough review. Is there any way that the ventilation can be improved in hot weather by opening up the foot end of the sleeping area? I think I've seen the larger Opalus 3, in a review, opened up in this way. The only other downside I can see is that it isn't a stand alone structure so you can't take the outer tent off to leave the mesh inner. I live in the tropics. Cheers and thanks!

How does it do in terms of condensation, both in relation to cooking and the sleeping area?
@Im_With_Stupid
@Im_With_Stupid Жыл бұрын
I have one and condensation hasn't been a problem for me using it as a one person tent. That said, if it rains or the ground is wet when you set it up or the humidity is very high you will have some amount of condensation under the fly in the morning, but there's no inherent condensation problems due to lack of ventilation. The fly sits high over the tent body and it pulls out pretty far on the sides. That, plus the two vents on the ends and the sheer volume of space under the fly keeps it pretty well ventilated. It's also designed such that you can roll up the back of the fly and tie it up for a massive ventilation boost in clear weather.

Hey lonewolf. Im looking to get into hot tenting but trying on a budget. Would you recommend converting this tent into a hot tent? Its very lightweight and I love the form factor! What budget oven could pair with this as well? Im struggling with all of the many options. I just need something lightweight, safe for backpacking! Thank you =) love the videos!

Question. This link was from your hot tent trip. Did you alter it yourself with stove jack? Nature hike doesn’t have one with installed

I modified the tent myself

Great video! How critical are the stakeouts for pitching this tent? A lot of my camping is on rocky ground so I usually go with fully free-standing tents. This one caught my eye though. Love that vestibule.
