That coffee must have tasted so much sweeter after putting all that hard work building a shelter for over 2hrs and building a warm fire to keep you toasty. Confidence is a huge factor. Knowing that you can trust yourself and skills to survive. Also good point about a sleeping bag not being warm enough if you need to warm a water bottle. Hope your thumb is healing up. Doesn't seem to bother you much.

First; I’ve dug snow shelters but never built an evergreen bough shelter ..only read about them and watched You Tube videos for years. You just built the first shelter that could realistically be built by one person …and be effective. I have to laugh when someone puts up a few pine boughs and call it a survival shelter. Best of all you can cook and make a great cup of coffee!
