An unusual but exceptional trip 👍❤ Your train in detail ❤ intercity NS DDZ Built by Talbot then Bombardier in the early 1990s as DDAR, they benefited from a renovation program at Nedtrain Haarlem between 2009 and 2014 which should have been called NID and eventually renamed DDZ DubbelDekker Zonering.0 Nedtrain is also responsible for upgrading ICMs. Note that in 1995, Bombardier Eurorail acquired Waggonfabrik Talbot KG of Aachen, Germany, a company founded in 1838. In July 2013, Talbot Services GmbH took over the Bombardier site. Talbot Services specializes in the maintenance, improvement and repair of electric rolling stock. In December 2021, the DDZs benefited from a new less destructive braking system and a new maintenance schedule following the shutdown in December 2020 of the 49 DDZs due to vibration problems observed at the commercial speed of 140 km /h. NS DDZs (full name: DubbelDekkerZonering) were built by Waggonfabrik Talbot (now Bombardier Talbot), De Dietrich Ferroviaire (now Alstom DDF) and Adtranz between 1992 and 1998 and are operated in the Netherlands by Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). This class is a type of concentrated power electric multiple unit and was delivered in two batches as DDM-2 and DDM-3. Official name of this stock is NID (Nieuwe Intercity Dubbeldekker) - DDZ was actually the name for the renovation project, but it stuck around a bit too much

And the punishment for that, really serious SIN, must be death. These ill disciplined members of the public must never be allowed to choose their own names for anything. And I always thought the Dutch were a people with a great sense of individuality and humour. I didn't know that they were using incorrect names for a train. They must be removed from the serious and sensibly obsessed "experts". Everything about life is just too serious to allow them to live, spreading their casual attitude to yet more individuals. To say, "DDZ", must deserve the death sentence, don't you think?

1970-74 my parents lived in Leewarden, I studied in Amersfoort and I was on placement in Amsterdam. So this was a very normal Friday to Sunday trip for me. Mostly with change-over in Zwolle of soms in Meppel. We have lived in New Zealand since 1974 and are celebrating our 50th arrival here next week. Only thing we’re homesick for is…. the NS! AKKRUM De draaibrug over de Boorne (de Boarn). De huidige brug is nog betrekkelijk jong. Ze werd in 2011 gebouwd en verving een oudere draaibrug, die een doorvaarthoogte van slechts iets meer dan een meter had. Die moest dus voor bijna elk bootje open. De huidige doorvaarthoogte van circa drie meter is dan ook een grote verbetering. Die extra hoogte werd ook benut om een naastgelegen overweg te kunnen vervangen door een onderdoorgang voor het wegverkeer. De nieuwe draaibrug moest om veiligheidsredenen van zogenoemde passeerstroken worden voorzien, waardoor deze aanzienlijk breder werd. Om de brug toch te kunnen openen worden deze passeerstroken tijdens het draaien omhoog geklapt.

Hoop dat ze het toch eens voor elkaar krijgen om van dit noordelijke traject 160-200km/h te maken. Zodra je vanuit het noorden bij Utrecht wezen moet dan is het al snel beter om met de Auto te gaan zodra als het niet binnen 10 minuten van het station is. Verder naar het zuiden is kwa reistijd de trein eigenlijk al geen optie meer vs de auto terwijl dat eigenlijk andersom zou moeten zijn. De trein is wel veel relaxter natuurlijk.

idd zou ideaal zijn je ziet tussen Amsterdam Rotterdam waar je via de HSL hard kan rijden dat het super efficient is. idealiter zou het eigenlijk vanaf Utrecht naar elke uithoek van het land dus Groningen, Den Helder, Vlissingen en Maastricht zo'n lijn liggen die alleen op de grote tussengelegen stations stopt zodat je vanaf daar verder kan naar de kleine dorpen.

Als ik me niet vergis is de brug bij Grou van begin deze eeuw. Ik weet wel dat ze eerst het aquaduct hebben gebouwd en later de spoorbrug.. Wat ik wel weet is dat de brug bij Akkrum van 2007 is.

Mooie rit weer meester, voorzover ik kan vinden is de spoorbrug over het van harinxmakanaal (hrmk 57) van bouwjaar 1951 vlak voor de elekrificatie van de lijn.

He may not even have to lower it. The important thing is to have no power consumption or generation, zero, zilch, nada, nothing connected to the pantograph until the blue signboards indicate he is safe for his given train. If that rule is not followed "life gets interesting" with massive spitzensparks and everything goes kerflooie in a handbasket. Usually the height limiter on the pantograph is low enough that it can slide under a slightly elevated oncoming wire end. There are exceptions where even the pantographs must be lowered - the last I knew. But most of them, by far, are civilized. {^_-}

Mooie rit met de DDZ Voor mij voelt de DDZ als een lekker rijdende trein. Ik ga dan altijd in de motorwagen zitten. Vooral wegens het geluid (vooral bij de start).

Was this the one with the station that would not pay for you to stop there? Has the widening at Schiphol been completed yet? Also, the works at Amsterdam "D??" on the left is that going to be more tracks, eventually? Loved how we got to the end pretty well before it got completely dark. I thought a lot of the car headlights facing us at one stage on the left were all on High Beam! Thanks again. Well done.

Yes, Heerenveen IJsstadion did not pay enough. Widening at Delft you mean? Lots of delay there, still not in service. At Amsterdam Dijksgracht, a dive-under is beinig built.

Dat is een herhalingsein dat aangeeft of het volgende sein stoptonend is of niet. Wordt toegepast op plaatsen waar seinen niet tijdig zichtbaar zijn.

It must be a real bummer to have a station nearby but not have any train service at it. Who thought up that scenario? This service is an hourly pattern to Hoofddorp, the alternate half-hour going to Rotterdam, so I wonder why you have attached the adjective 'rare' to the description. Is it, perhaps, a route you do not get allocated to very often?

This train usually does not stop at Hoofddorp and travels via Lelystad, so this was rare :-)

The Dutch signaling system is not based on route indication, but shows the driver just the maximum speed the train may take for the present given situation.

Long and rare? Señor Cabview! I used to walk almost the same distance to primary school everyday and back. In Hamburg, New York. Near Lake Erie. Uphill both directions. In the snow. And cold. Usually with shoes. Always with a bag lunch. ... You folks in the Old World have gone soft. I had to contend with bear, deer, angry Canadian Geese, some bunny rabbits, disgruntled Native American Iroquois First Nation Confederacy people and lost Ontario, Canada RCMP Mounties along my route. You are in a luxury train. Getting paid handsomely. Now an international celebrity. So, please... don't ask me to buy you a cookie. But, thank you for the opportunity to type this 'rant'. It was long and rare of me, too. Gracias por tu video. RT sends, Colonia Centro Histórico, Puebla, México... PD... I really liked the crunchy paper sound at time 2:14:05 when we entered and stopped at the station. That was you unwrapping your peanut butter, banana and dill pickle sandwich, correct? I was getting kinda hungry myself. You were gonna share, weren't you? I like these long night romps through the Black Forest along the route. Kinda scary but fun. Let's do this again... but, share a better sandwich next time, eh?

Hm, that's just about 27ish miles as the crow flies, unless it is drunk, from one of the famous places you can stand solidly in the main body of the United States of America and look directly south on Canada. I grew up in the other sort of well known formerly famous places, the base of the thumb of the state of Mitten. {^_-}
