I recovered from so-called long covid in less than 6 months by watching recovery videos like this one. Once I realized it was the result of a sensitized nervous system and constant fear from reading long covid forums, I started to heal. I'm totally back to normal and exercising just like I did prior to covid. I had visits with the cardiologist and blood work done and everything came back completely normal, but that wasn't enough. I chose to listen to people who are bedbound and paralyzed by fear rather than my doctors. According to reddit, shortness of breath is caused by lung damage (even if it can't be seen during tests) or "micro clots". I know from long experience that over breathing and anxiety also causes shortness of breath. When I started avoiding "bad neighborhoods" and stopped viewing myself as sick it was almost like a switch was flipped and I was able to feel mostly normal almost immediately. Long covid may be, for some of us at least, a social contagion. I've also noticed that most "long haulers" who frequent forums aren't receptive to the possibility that the brain is causing their symptoms. I have a feeling that many will be waiting around, possibly for years, for a purely biomedical solution that's probably never coming. It's almost like a hive mind on facebook and reddit. I got sucked into it too and I'm so thankful for recovery stories like this that allowed me to find my way out.

@@PainFreeYou That would be great, and yeah, feel free to share the comment, anonymous or not either is fine. Another interesting detail... after I recovered from long covid my blood pressure became completely normal where before when I was labeling myself as sick it was high (never had high BP previous to that).

Since than i have extreme fatique and shortness of breath. Especially the SOB is very hard. My breath is very high, doesn't come automatically and i have to direct it myself instead of coming automatically. Did you experienced this SOB too? If the answer is yes how did you manage it?

Thank you so much for providing this video. I recently got over a mild Covid infection and since recovery I was dealing with loss of appetite, daily nausea, and heart palpitations. Ever since watching this video my nausea has vanished and my appetite has gotten so much better. I am still working on the heart palpations (I wake up every morning with a fast heart beat) but I also have a very long history of anxiety so I am sure there is a connection between the two. It is incredible how powerful the human brain is. Thank you so much for getting the word out there. I’m shocked that this is not talked about more.

I had long covid and used mind body techniques to recover. After coming across them 11 months in it all made perfect sense - it absolutely works to improve and resolve the majority of long covid symptoms, as they are brain and nervous system based for most people. There is a great deal of fear around especially in the early days which is when I first got covid. It was a traumatic experience and no wonder my brain acted as it did. My fatigue literally lifted in days after beginning the techniques, after 11 months of little to no change. Other things took longer, but that was the most debilitating symptom and for it go in a few days showed me there was never anything physically wrong with me, rather my brain’s perception that a certain amount of activity was dangerous for me to do. I find it absolutely fascinating and it’s been a massive education for me ever since about my own health and well-being. We need to spread the word far and wide because as the previous commenter mentioned, the wait for a biomedical solution is unlikely to come and the stigma in accepting the brain and nervous system as a cause of such conditions is very real because of the misunderstandings around it.

Remember the tv show Northern Exposure? There was an episode where Dr Joel got the flu. He was bed ridden a week or so. Marilyn took care of him. Eventually she pushed him out of the bed. The mechanism he describes when his long covid set in, is what I believe to be the same thing for CFS, POTS, and even PTSD to an extent. He also brings up a valuable point that rarely gets talked about and that is sometimes stuff DOES show up in blood work... like low white count from a suppressed immune system, liver enzymes and things like SIBO from digestion being bad. It only makes sense that things like that will show up when you have been in a prolonged danger response. Thanks again Dan for all you do. The more light that gets put on this the more people can begin to see they can recover.

Over the course of three years, after Covid, my symptoms were.. - massive anxiety attacks - severe stomach pains - severe migraines - severe dizziness - brain fog - inner tremors - rashes on my thumb that lasted for 10 months - severe muscle tension, pulled my back three times - weakness in my thumb that eventually travelled up the arm into my neck and shoulder that created a lot of pain.

I had an eight week episode of TMS last summer, before I ever heard of TMS. My naturopath ordered blood tests and a liver enzyme came back extremely elevated as did my C reactive protein. Both markers for inflammation. My naturopath prescribed meditation, deep breathing and I began to feel better. Blood tests several weeks later showed normal liver enzymes and C reactive protein. Now that I know about TMS the abnormal levels make sense.

I cannot say for sure, but the more fear (perceived danger there is) from the v-injuries, the likelihood that the brain will make the symptoms more intense. It is tough to tell where the injuries stop and Mindbody (perceived danger pain or symptoms) begin. In the end, there is absolutely ZERO downside to my approach of teaching your brain that you are safe and trusting your body to return to balance and recover. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWbbiIVsmqefmJo

Fantastic and important video and this worked for me too! I'm amazed how little coverage it gets in the Long Covid world, although there was a Nicole Sachs video last year. It isn't helped by Paul Garner (the UK guy talked about in the video and in another comment) being something of a jerk imo. Compared with "classic" TMS which I applied successfully over 15 years ago, I have found it harder because I did come out of covid with some real physical issues (as you mentioned) that needed to heal, and secondly because the ongoing pandemic makes it so easy to freak out again.

Here's a catch-22 I haven't heard TMS coaches or practitioners address, at least not so far. And that's when tms coaches say you should get checked out by a doctor and make sure they don't find anything structurally wrong or diseased, and then you can presume it's probably TMS, but here's the problem, the Catch-22.... We all know or heard of doctors that will definitely diagnose you with something, even if it's incorrect, for the sake of profit, their job security, or even perhaps an honest mistake on their part with no ill intent. If a person needs a clean bill of health before they can assume something is TMS, they may never get it, because it is definitely not in the medical businesse's best interest to give anyone a clean bill of health (ie repeat visits, ie surgeries, ie prescriptions, ie referrals, ie ka-ching ka-ching), plus most of them currently would have a bias against mind-body principles like what Dan Buglio is teaching so well.
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 2 жыл бұрын
You are right, rule out the physical is something often said in the TMS community. I do NOT say this. I suggest we rule out the life threatening or catastrophic things. Infectious disease, tumors, fractures. Then we rule IN this thing called TMS based on the behavior of the pain or symptoms. All the physical findings in-between can be chalked up to "normal abnormalities" as Dr. Sarno said decades ago. Thanks for your thoughts on this catch 22.

Agree. As an RN I have heard many many times a patient's symptoms lumped under a diagnosis like "generalized anxiety disorder", or "headaches, tension variety." This approach takes time to work right? Like you would still feel those things caused by inflammation from you thinking you are sick, but for the body to reset and get out of fear mode it can take a while?

This video really helped me this morning. (I also watched your Rage video) and some things clicked. Not that I don’t already know, but this world of Long Covid has fucked me up so much. And I think I was already having TMS for years anyways. But yeah, the Covid pandemic and then ultimately catching it and ending up in the ER and fear fear fear. Here I am 2 years later still having to accept new levels of, I don’t even know what to call it. Levels of acceptance? Is that a thing? Is that why it is taking me so long for my brain to believe that everything is TMS🎉 STILL so many uncomfortable sensations and symptoms.

Jake is not sharing his story in a blog or anything. In my opinion, it's not about a specific resource or tool he used. It's about learning, understanding and deciding that his body was not sick. With that understanding, he was able to begin calming his fears and trusting his body to return to balance. Message me at: PainFreeYou.com/contact - and ask about Jakes story. I'll see if I can provide anything beyond this interview.

As i understand it long term inflammation ( the liver in this case) is a product of an chronically overactive/ stuck immune system not one that has been suppressed. That would still fit in a TMS/perceived danger response though. As if we feel under threat our brain will be up scaling the immune response. when I had a CFS/ME diagnosis I never got colds and flu. I always felt that was a hyper and chronic immune response. Now i know where it originated. In my scared brain.

Well, I'm going to be that person. I think the message in this video is extremely dangerous and here's why. I have taken it to heart - for months now I have been living this process of trying to calm my nervous system. Has it helped? Absolutely. BUT. I have not fully recover and this is sending a dangerous message for two reasons. #1. There is no warning in here about the very real very potential problem that some people might jump into exercising and will be set back even farther. This has happened to me. I was feeling really great this weekend and I went paddle boarding thinking that I need to stop acting like I am sick. I felt nervous about going but once I was on the water, I felt great. I wanted to be cautious as I was starting to feel a little fatigued, so my friend helped me paddle back. The next day I woke up and felt slightly fluish but I told myself, hey it's okay just get up and see how it goes. I kept reminding myself I was safe and thinking about this video how this guy was able to go back to exercising within weeks. Well I felt totally normal, I felt so energized, and I ended up cleaning my house. I started to feel a little nervous about how much I was doing so I decided to stop and rest. I was feeling great. Then I went on my computer, read two things that were great news that made me really happy, so in that moment I was not thinking anything negative whatsoever or worried and boom. All the sudden out of nowhere it was like my body was overcome with that all too familiar wave of a crash. I felt my limbs get heavy, brain fog set in, like a switch had been flipped. Later that evening I had shortness of breath (which was not anxiety). It's now been days of this horrible crash again. It's probably going to take me days to recover again. This is not something I could will myself out of. The message in this video, while it says "it's not all in your head", implies that if we really believe, we can just go out and exercise in a few weeks time and possibly recover and go back to 100%. I'm sorry, but I have genuinely been telling myself for months and wanting to get over this. It's just not happening. The only way I really see improvement is by not pushing myself past a limit, which has nothing to do magical thinking. There really needs to be a disclaimer and while it's great Jake improved so quickly, it's not the reality for many of us who have had this much, much longer than he has. #2. And it's setting people up to say it's just anxiety or it's just because we're too focused on our symptoms. There are things very real that are happening in my body and until it's been proven that there isn't another physical cause, it's dangerous to just chalk it up to this. Jake saying he recovered quickly in a few weeks makes the rest of us look like chums. Wish people could see really what it's been like inside my heart, body and mind for the past 15 months.
