Balance plays a major role in how we accept criticism, it can be constructive (if we let it) or damaging (if we let it). KZbin fosters both positivity and negativity and that's really the downfall of the platform. Playing live people are much more accepting. Someone who will politely clap for an artist at a club, will go home and eviscerate the same performance. I take inspiration from people who are just learning and from seasoned pros like Brad Paisley, John Mayer. When I hear someone cut down Nickelback, I always wonder why? What motivates the detractors? Inevitably it is lack of personal fulfillment. Luckily most guitarists I've met are cut from the same cloth, yes we are perfectionists, but also accepting of other guitar players... at any level. The world needs more people like Greg Koch.

He somehow never answers the question how simple it may be but goes into the biggest details of a subject. Its like hes opening folders and goes so deep into the files he forgot what folder he even got into

Even my heroes dismiss shred. Why do they revere it on a Violin Flight of the Bumblebee...Piano ( Oscar Peterson ) Horn Clarinet or Gypsy Jazz solo but if it's fast rock guitar suddenly "there is no melody". I mean Herman is a high level shredder and Paul pretty much hates shredders. I would love yo see an honest open discussion on "speed technique" and its "meaning." I mean look at MJ Batio slow down and play slow Jazz Changes. I am genuinly curious. As for me Flight of The Bumblee Bee tells a Story far far better than many " Less is more Guitarists" With Herman and Paul in particular...I could see it getting heated and they are both Pioneers in many ways...and very commited. Obviously Paul is more iconic in taking a market slice from the Big Two ( which is 90% of rock country and blues)... and redifining both Guitar itself as well as overall better Quality. Yet both are diametrically oppossed in playing approach. But clearly Herman Loves Paul's Guitars...as do I.
