Glad this Long Drive guy got to show off his suprisingly good short game.

It would surprise me if all these guys did was just drive the ball and never play golf, even recreationally. They could have been golfers first who then realised they had a gift for driving the ball. He could still be above average around a course.
@TWoodringFishing4 жыл бұрын
@@notmenotme614 Quite a few of the long drive competitors actually play. Kyle, the reigning champ played in college and is a scratch golfer. The issue with hitting ball a mile is that it gets hard to control the landing point on courses that require positioning which is why you won't see many compete on tours.

The par 4 18th at the club I grew up at was similar (MacGregor Downs). You had to go over water either way, but there was the short way or the long way. Back in 1973 they held the U.S. Professional Matchplay Championship along with the Ligget & Myers Open stroke play tournament at MacGregor Downs (I was 12 and had just started playing golf one year earlier). The top 8 leaders on the money list were exempt into the matchplay tournament and the top 8 on the leaderboard after 2 days of the Ligget & Myers Open got the other 8 open spots. The stroke play tournament continued on Sat & Sun concurrently with the matchplay tournament. I remember following Jack Nicklaus during a practice round and his caddie Angelo Argea told him he didn't think Jack could carry it long enough to go the long way (it's about a 280 carry which was pretty far in 1973). Jack teed it up and cleared the water by about 10 yards on his first try. Flyover of the 18th at MacGregor Downs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2fYmZaJgbOCrck The flyover doesn't start back at the men's regular tee or the championship tees. They are elevated and much further back than where the drone started in this video. The men's tee is about a 250 carry and the championship tee is about a 280 carry. If you hit it left or right by about 10 yards of where you are aiming the carry gets significantly longer, so it takes accuracy as well as distance. Nice to see that his short game is fairly good. Not just a "one hit wonder" if you will.

Say what you want about the "eagle" its just exciting to know its theoretically possible for him to hole and 1 a par 5 without and crazy bounces.

It’s weird to see how specialized the swing is for this kind of competition

The amount of attempts taken shows that it’s always better to play safe 😂. But on the plus side, he looked like he had fun! Kudos to a great attitude 👍🏻👍🏻

Can you do a video on the gator in the water just chilling
@kewkabe4 жыл бұрын
I encountered a small gator once in Myrtle Beach, chilling on the putting green between my ball and the hole, and I had to use a sand wedge on the green to chip over it.

He didn`t get eagle so much ob water . BD must hit better
@HelicalPierSystems5 жыл бұрын
His setup is causing him to not be addressing the ball correctly for an accurate long hit. He should be about 3 strides back and one to the left and approach with a hockey skate-like cross-over. Hole in one's are much easier than putting :)

Mike Austin holds the world record for the longest drive in professional play, driving 515 yards at the Winterwood Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1974, blasting it 65 yards past the flag on the par-4 fifth. His golf swing, known as The Mike Austin Swing, is practiced and taught by current golf professionals.

@alexrouault74213 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you can call it "normal". I've seen online that he uses 4.5 degrees. 8-11 would be considered normal by most people.
@brianlb783 жыл бұрын
Long drive competitors use "normal" drivers too. Their shaft limit is 48" just like the PGA shaft limit.

To Lessen confusion: 0 = Par -1 = Birdie -2 = Eagle -3 = Albatross -4 = Condor (Hole in one on Par 5 courses or Hole in two on Par 6 courses, and yes they do exist)
@NashoGamesOfficial2 жыл бұрын
For anyone wondering, 555 yards is 1,530 feet. Amazing.
@dbo45062 жыл бұрын
He never hit it that far. The world record today sent even close to that haha and this was 3yrs ago. Also Bryson did this twice IN competition last year and won the event. Both his drives on the weekend went just right of the green.
