I live in a semi and thinking of fencing from my house to the end of the driveway which stops at the public foot path. Using concrete post and gravel boards. Is it best to start from the path and work towards the house ? It’s 22ft. I was thinking 3x6 then a 4 foot cut to the house brick ? Hope that makes sense
@ashrevlution34564 жыл бұрын
Start measuring your post footings from the house and work towards the foot path. You may end up with having half a fence panel at the end and personally it looks much better if any half (or whatever size) cuts are furthest away from the property. It looks more pleasing to the eye!

Hi Lee, i’m about to build a 15 m fence along the side of my house / garden, Beyond the fence is a private road used by the 3 houses behind me and for access to my garage. The question I have is on your video you left a gap between the curbs of the road and the fence, that grassy bit of a foot or do. Are there any regulations or can I take mine right to the curb because that’s all my property?
@LHLgardenservices4 жыл бұрын
I put the fence back in the same place but as far as I am aware you can put your fence right up to your boundaries. Check with you're council to be sure 👍
@jagmeetsingh2874 жыл бұрын
LHL garden services uk Thank you very kindly for responding! I was thinking that but was unsure. One more question if I may please: So our house is a detached house and as I said before on the left side of our house is a private driveway/ little road for the three bungalows behind us and access to our garage. The front of our house is directly facing a main road and we have a one car parking space at the front to the left side of our house, Next to the little private road. So we park our car on our private drive which is a very small space, big enough just for the car. Where the car is parked in front of that is where our fence/gate starts from the side of our house going to the small private road which is about a 12 foot span. The old gates and fence are completely knackered. At the front I’m going to build a pedestrian gate and two 4 foot gates that can open in just incase we ever have to pull the car or any large objects further into the side of house from the front. So those gates are going to be built with the framework on the inside and obviously the nice part of the gate looking outwards. Now my question is: the 50 foot run of fence I have to put up from the front gates to the back of the garden is facing the private drive, so do I have to put the pales on the outside just like you have in your video or can I for that approx 12 meter run have the framework towards the outside facing the private drive and have the nice part of the fence with the Feather boards facing into my garden? Then at the very back of the house I’m going to be putting a couple of more fence panels with another another 4 foot gate and another pedestrian gate which leads to the garage in the back backyard. So to reiterate at the front of the house I’ll have gates and the back of the house I’ll have gates with the framework for the gates facing into my backyard so the nice part of the gate is looking away from the house but for the main run on the side of the house (The one I’m going to build up right to the curb) I would like to flip the frame there and have the nice portion of feather boards facing inwards? Can I do that and would it look silly or shall I just build it all uniformly? Sorry it’s kind of hard to explain I hope that made sense.
@jagmeetsingh2874 жыл бұрын
Oh I just subscribed thank you for your response and advice😊
@sinistaproductions91644 жыл бұрын
Jagmeet Singh be careful with having fencing framework on the outside of your boundary. It provides a good foothold for people to jump the fence for whatever reason. I know if someone really wanted in they could scale a 6 foot fence or gate no problem, but it just invites it in my opinion. It would add a bit more cost but you could always put boards on both sides if the look of the framework bothered you. But in terms of rules etc, you can build the fencing however you want visually
@petrupatraucean72533 жыл бұрын
