I love how this cut not only gave her hair back some life and movement but also enhanced the color she has. In the beginning it almost looks faded and dull , and it the end the layers just accentuated all the right spots.! From one stylist to another , AMAZING JOB. Keep the videos coming ❤💋

Matt, Im not hair stylist but I learned alot from this video, you make a great teacher! I have to say, in my opinion what makes a great teacher is one who not only explains/teaches what to do, how to do it whatever the subject is but WHY you do it.

Pinksupergrl95 This is what i always say. If you dont learn the why, then ultimately you have learned nothing. Learning the why is the key aspect to understanding the way something works. He is a very thoughtful teacher.

Hi Matt, I love to watch you work with hair. You do superb and very thorough work. It's also amazing to me because I did hair for 18 years and although I learned a lot from education and hair shows, etc. But the way you cut and the reasons you give I also taught myself from hands on and I completely understand your reasons from cutting details to blow drying with round brushes and the cooling before release. I taught a lot of others this as well.. I truly miss it. So thanks again for you. 🥰

watching your videos makes me miss doing hair. I don't do it anymore due to me lacking the confidence even though I was told otherwise. I just wasn't passionate about it like you are. cretnotonic I recently started working at a salon and I feel like quitting already I always doubt myself and let anxiety get to me, I feel like I’m gonna mess everything up and the clients won’t like anything that I do. They’ve told me that i have talent and that i do a good job. I even had a client today that tried to belittle me and make me doubt myself by asking me if I knew how to cut hair because she was a cosmetologist.

Both of u are hard on yourselves give yourself a chance to grow, we all go through a time of doubt and we feel like just quitting. But dont! It's always the people who have the most potential doing great things in cosmetology that go through a load of hurdles first! !

Hi Matt, I LOVE your cuts and instructions. I just have one thing that I wish for... which is .. if you are cutting the hair of someone with BLACK hair, could you use a lighter cape perhaps? (that would help me, perhaps no-one else notices) I find it hard to see in this clip, as you wear black, the hair is black and the cape is black. Also the lighting is darkish.. But as I say, you are awesome I am using your cuts on my clients!!! I find your explanations about over directing, distributing weight etc.. all really helpful

This is beautiful! Question: Why did you do the layers in a big horizontal section, rather than traditional vertical section layers at the crown, standing behind the head? And why do you have horizontal sections in the very front as opposed to diagonal partings?
