Love this cut. I’m so glad layers are coming back. For the last couple years I’ve been asking for a layered cut and it seems no one knows how to do them this way where all the layers are seen on top.

This is awesome! I get terrified when a client ask if I could cut long/concave layers. I always play it safe by just traveling around their head, cutting as little as possible to make it appear as if Zi know what I'm doing. Thank you for breaking this cut into a simple method. I can feel my anxiety slowly drifting away. I'll go home & master this on my mannequin head first though! 😆

Oooh, I feel ya sista! My stylist was in a near fatal car accident and lost the use of her arms:( She was the only one who could cut my hair PERFECLY! She just knew how to cut long, thick, curly/wavy/coarse hair and I would always walk out of the salon feeling gorgeous. The last time she cut my hair was 10 years ago and I have NOT been able to find a stylist who can cut it correctly without chopping short layers into all the wrong places. Haven't worn my hair down in years b/c it's too thick and heavy so I pull it up in a bun or pony tail all the time. SICK of doing this! And I shouldn't have to considering all my great thick and healthy hair! Please Please, is there a stylist in Southern California who REALLY knows how to cut LONG layers into thick, coarse and wavy-curly hair anymore and debulk the heaviness without chopping everything down to nothing?? I want to wear my hair down again! I miss my wavy, touseled hair but right now it feels like a huge thick Q-tip without any movement whatsoever! help, please!

I have watched many hair cutting videos and have seen many styles and methods of hair cutting and I must say that yours is the best style and method. It can be applied to so many other styles of hair length and shapes. I'm sure you have other methods for cutting very short hair as well, i.e. point cutting, shag and razor cutting to name a few. Your voice over lesson and focus on detail is second to none that I have seen. I have seen many other complicated layouts of sectioning the hair before cutting and your is the best. I have learned through the years that keeping things simple is always the best way to go and yours is very straight forward in that regard. BRAVO SIR and thank you for the lesson.

Hi Matt, thanks so much for your vlogs, I loved this video. I have very long thick hair myself and I've always had a lot of it, I've never really known what was best for it through the years. I grow it out thick and then go in and take out lots of weight to change it up but it never really sits right. Ive always been careful with layers because they have often just ruined the natural movement and shape of my hair. This video made a lot of sense to me and you always show such understanding of the head shape and face and what works best on what hair. It's a common problem, people always want this or that even if really, it just can't be done with that particular hair. You have to work with what you have and take it from there. Thanks again, I look forward to your vlogs!

❤️❤️❤️ I have thick course long hair and I'm a Cosmetologist. My coworkers do not like cutting my hair because I am never satisfied with how they layer my hair. My hair has a natural wave so I can wear it super curly if I want or I flat iron it. This video is very helpful. I will be showing this to them. I also found that when they use the thinning shears it raises my cuticle and my hair gets extremely poofy. After almost two years of growing it out I finally have one length again. I'm ready for the layers. Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE THIS CUT! Finding THE RIGHT STYLIST/HAIR DRESSER THAT CAN CUT MY HAIR AND THEN WHEN I FIND THAT PERSON, THEY DISAPPEAR FROM A SALON. Again thank you! That is what I continuously ask for and I'm not getting through. I have to clearly say don't use razors, don't snip the ends. I just want a layered hair cut and come out looking like a horrid mess so disgusted that I have to go home and correct the mess. I have to actually work at fixing my hair before I go to a salon to give them an idea how I fix my hair cause if I don't OH GOD forbid I'm in danger of a bad haircut.

I took these screenshots to a hairdresser yesterday. I had plenty of long beautiful blonde hair to work with. I told her there was a video to watch if she wanted but she refused and laughed saying she had this in the bag. No Problem, I GOT THIS! She made it way to short basically just layered at random and looks nothing like the photos. She literally had me stand up the whole time to cut the ends. For the style she simply gave me three large curls on the top of my head. So now I'm just waiting for my hair to grow back. And find someone less full of themselves.

I had the same problem but I started cutting my own hair many years ago, I often watch videos and this is probably the only video I have come across that is spot on. This is exactly how I have been cutting my hair for years I learned about this technique from a Lee Stafford video but he only did it on the front section and part of the side, this guy is using this technique all over which is much better and makes it much easier to cut your own hair. You can also take smaller sections and cut them combing up to create different styles, also combing your hair forward after the cut forward shows how the hair sits. I do not believe in thinning hair techniques I have always cut my hair with just scissors and cutting layers in the right direction which is combing up the sections and cutting straight across, you should consider cutting your own hair it will save you wasted money in the long run

Yes! I tried too and the hair dresser got offended when I tried to show her the video. She said “I know how to cut hair” and gave me a nasty look. I just left and didn’t go back after that. People need to be a little more humble.
@JASuperflex14 жыл бұрын
@@75julianne Ive offended a few hairdressers in my time too, and if a hairdresser gets offended and does not know how to explain his or herself then they are probably crap and unfortunately there are lots of crappy ones out there. Don't know why they bother, if I was cutting someones hair the idea would be to give them a beautiful haircut so they feel like a million dollars when they walk out of the salon, your hair is your beauty after-all

This is amazing. I have high density hair and so many hairstylist do NOT want to overextend, or take small sections. They rush the cut, and barely pull to 90 degrees - more like 80 - then you get a horrible gap in the layering, and thick ends that bevel. My God I’m saving this vid to show the next person that cuts my hair!!!!!! Love Love Love your step by step guide and Thank You for not talking slowly, or being showy!
