I just love Costa Rica. Travelling as a solo woman almost 19 years ago I met some of the kindest people in Costa Rica. And the food was so delicious and was all about the quality of the ingredients. If I could only eat only one plate of food for the rest of my life it would be that breakfast plate.

What an amazing country… love the people, the vibes, the naturaleza (beautiful nature), the food, the beaches, etc. Un gallo pinto con natilla, pan, huevo, salichichon is my favorite food in the whole world! Costa Rica is amazing! I love the food here. We moved here 7 years ago. We live in close to Dominical, higher in the mountains. I've learned from our friend, who helps us with gardening, to cook some traditional Costarican food. We use only lard for cooking. My week spot are tortillas, takes me a long time to prepare, I hope I will get better in preparing them with time. We live in the village, among local neighbors, I love them and feel so grateful to be accepted. We keep chickens for eggs, culantro de cayote grows like weed on our property. We barely buy food in supermarket, just rise and some condiments (like salsa Lizano). All the meat, vegetables, and fruits we eat, we buy from the small, local farmers. It is amazing, when you eat fresh foods, you don't really need a lot of spices. The food itself has an amazing taste.

I worked as guide for 3 .5 months in northern Costa Rica, the white (farmers) cheese that we obtained from some local farmers was amazing!
@georgemay3665 Жыл бұрын
Seeing the guides is almost as interesting as seeing the food. It's very interesting to hear what they have to say about their local food and food habits. Seeing how it's so localized with very different views on food and consumption habits outside of their country. I've noticed this discrepancy in how the rest of the world eats, as viewed by the guides, a lot more noticeable in the recent Central American videos you've done. Thanks for all the work, great videos.

Love that you did this video specifically about the distinct food from Nicoya peninsula and Guanacaste province, their folklore is considered essential to Costa Rican identity and after this video I am really longing to go back there. 21:00 Culantro coyote is a secret weapon to many dishes in Costa Rica, it tastes amazingly and adds so much to the fragrance of a dish. 24:50 that song is called "Amor de temporada", an amazing song from a Guanacastecan composer.

The Ministry of Health is pretty strict on the permissions that it gives to places like bars and restaurants. Yoy have to pass a "food preparation" course to be able to work in the sector. The upside is that it will be difficult that you get sick after going to a legal food establishment in Costa Rica. The downside is that we, ticos, get sick all the time when we go abroad and try some other countries' delicious culinary traditions.
