I haven't used crossfire and Dont know how they compare but you can flash R9 gear with elrs firmware for even better range though I haven't done so as the reason I would want to use elrs firmware is to use the cheap elrs 900mhz RX's but all of them output on serial and I need ppm/sbus. I use R9 Slim+ RX's on everything, they output sbus but also 8 regular pwm, they also have inverted and uninverted s.port . I love the s.port, I use it for forwarding mavlink telemetry from a flight controller and on my Tx's colour screen I have all the data like voltage, current, speed, distance etc plus satellite mapping showing the position of the craft :) The R9 system supports its own telemetry like rssi, voltage ect and you can buy all sorts of sensors but if you have a flight controller as the brains of your craft, all you need is already there.

So there is currently no way to use both head tracking and the DSC output for a simulator, as they both use the same port on the radio. You got yourself some projects brother! Here’s some info that I got: You would likely have to change the esc in your TRX4 to use an ELRS receiver. Lots of smaller models come with a 2 in 1 esc / rx these days. I don’t have a power limit at all to the PWM receivers. Possibly on older fw this is an issue? I’m on the latest. I also live in a different region that doesn’t require lbt (I’m not sure if Australia does) so I’m not sure if that’s the reason. I could enter the web interface for the PWM receivers by connecting to their WiFi and change all kinds of settings. Can you get to the full setup web interface by putting /hardware after the 10.0.0.1? (I would out the full url but YT would get me lol) There is an Arduino project for arming the O3. I’m also doing a video on how I do it now. Mine is a bit more expensive and Complicated but gets you OSD (so GPS info like speed, etc). I’ll be making a video on that soon. That is a suppppper old Traxxas Rustler lol. I love the X Maxx but it’s so expensive. It might be the perfect rig for an FPV Car 👍

@@ChaddRainsFPV I will let you know as I am just about to dive into a build with my X Maxx. I have a Traxxas Summit with Crossfire and a Caddx system and it works great. I will be looking at including a flight controller so I can get some more OSD as I find I am getting lost driving my rig around the outback in Australia as bushes all look the same. I love this side of the RC hobby and thank you for your video,s.

nice, what video system do you have ?

For this car I am just using 5.8ghz analog, but I normally run a DJI Air Unit or Caddx Vista. I do also use 1.3ghz from time to time but it’s more trouble to set up 🤙

@@Chris-vc1dh if you use a high pass filter / notch filter you technically can use 1.3ghz video with 2.4ghz control. I never do tho

I use a dji fpv drone that I crashed. Works perfectly no shaking 👌 also that controller is the tits!

Ayeee that’s a solid idea! A bit of added latency but trade for an easy gimbal/stabilized camera. Prob has great range too 🤙

Sorry to hear! I am sure RadioLink would like to know about your remote’s issue. You should send them a direct message either on Facebook or email!

I have 868mhz R9 long range rc link on my car :)
@ChaddRainsFPV Жыл бұрын
Awesome! Do you know if the R9 module can accept a ppm input? Most need an SBUS or CRSF input, but if so there is a cable you can to use it with this RC6GS radio 🤙

@@ChaddRainsFPV yes, google the R9M, the module takes cppm :)

@@ChaddRainsFPV ahh see I prefer my traditional transmitter, I started rc life with a car and a trigger style tx when I was younger but now fly things and have a high end stick tx running OpenTX and love it. The throttle not being swung loaded to the neutral position would get people at first but car esc's with forward>brake>reverse make things easy, my diy 1/4 scale truck has a esc that is straightforward forward and reverse and that was a little more tricky and I programed in a bigger dead zone in the middle. It is possible to fit the springs required to make my transmitter sprung loaded on the left stick as some counties have the throttle and steering sticks reversed but being someone who flys, it's not something id do to my own tx.

@@stevefox3763 Super interesting. I’ve been flying for 13 years now and I cannot make an air remote work for me with RC cars. I like that others find the air remotes nice on rc cars tho. The more people trying the hobby from different angles, the better!

there's no way a 2.4 Ghz radio signal will go that far out of the line of sight, especially around corners with houses and vehicles in between blocking the signal, 2.4 isn't as bad at traveling through walls as 5.8 is but it won't go through the walls of multiple dwellings.......
@ChaddRainsFPV9 күн бұрын
I used to think this too, but look into LoRa. For real. Spend 5 minutes goggling that 🤙

Seriously? Crossfire can go like 30 kilometers line of sight. 2000mw vs 200mw. Radiolink I think is Jumper's "junk" bargain brand
@ChaddRainsFPV2 жыл бұрын
Crossfire is def a better RC link, but a lot of the people that are just getting into this don’t have the money or experience to get into crossfire. This radio and receiver allows for enough range to max out the most common FPV video links, so it’s a great option for a lot of people 🤙

@ChaddRainsFPV Жыл бұрын
Hahah, I did this years ago! But amplifiers aren’t necessary any more. This radio will match the range of most analog 5.8ghz systems, as is. And if you need crazy range, a cheap cable and a crossfire module will work perfect 🤙

@@UmKa-xv8xk the ELRS module is between 500mw and 2000mw but that power not necessary. Take a look into 2.4ghz LoRa. It has much more range 🤙

@@UmKa-xv8xk ahh right on. The RadioLink remotes are 100mw iirc. They run a low refresh rate to achieve their range, kinda like setting ELRS or Crossfire to 50hz. It has way more range than any of the other ‘ground protocol’ remotes I’ve tested. But honestly, I use their new RC8X with an ELRS module now. But that’s only because I get over 1km of video range and the RadioLink remotes tap out at around 600m of range in open space. Enough for almost every analog system though 🤙
