I use the ELRS controller and transmitter and my VTX is the Foxeer Reaper 5W but am planning to switch to the DJI O3 air unit video with a gimbal. Hope that doesn’t limit my video range too much.

hey chadd , i setup a lipo alarm for 6s lipo with help from a JB video , now if i want to also setup a lipo alarm for running 4s i guess i need to set up a different model ? one for 4s one for 6s . thats the plan i guess . was gonna go do a range test today but maybe a little too cold so i will work on this instead

Hi Chad, I want to start off by saying I appreciate all of the content that you have created and it’s gotten me into FPVing. I’ve spent a lot on multiple analog setups in the past couple of weeks - I love FPV, I am not into analog. Those days are over. I’m ready to switch to digital. While I appreciate you covering compatibility of all the components you cover, it gets confusing for me. While I might have overlooked a video (and if so please point me in the right direction), I really am looking for a soup to nuts video of your proven long range setup in detail of all of the required components that are in one of your best range cars - without the excessive covering of compatibility of other products being mentioned. I literally am ready to shell out 1.5k right now, but I’m lost trying to follow. Important to note I live in an urban area as do many others. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

After your first video I went with the Walksnail eco system as there wasn’t an easy way to arm the Dji system. I would love to know how I can increase penetration as I am loosing the video link going around the block. I’ve gone over 1/2 a mile with clear line of sight. Vtx is the Avatar Hd pro with dual antennas running 1200mw. Loving your vids ❤

really interested in exploring this further especially your question to your viewers about possibly throwing a kit together for nbeginners. an all inclusive everything you need right out of the box to put a fpv system on any rc car you have just a toital plug and play for beginners. Have you already made something like this, i see you know how to do it quite easily and im sure you could build it a lot of different ways. Will the brand of rc carv matter. For instance arrma vs taxxas or any other variation? Im totally interested in a beginners adaptation for a fpv plug and play, fool proof beginners kit. Have you got anything for sale yet? Need a digital marketer to get one off the ground? Where can we buy them? Can you do kit affordable enough to make others buy it? Could you make a video that shows your top 3 kits that you could sell, including bgoggles that would come with each kit or some homemade goggles that would be built by your viewer! I think you are really ointo something here!

hey chadd , during your testing of the radiomasters range were you using the rx with internal antenna? and was it mounted in a sealed rx box?

It’s better to use a 2nd battery in most cases. I just us an O3 Armer to make wiring east 😎

Thanks you! For the ViFly you need to get the one that accepts a PWM input (there are a lot of different versions. Then just hook it up to one of the channels on your receiver. Red wire to 5v, black to ground and yellow to signal. Hope this helps! 🤙

Yes! But the O4 doesn’t require an MSP signal to get full output power like the O3. So it’s a good plug n play solution but if you custom solder a wire harness to power the O4 and your fan, you can make it work without my Armers 🤙

I bought the 03 armer and hopefully all the parts I need. Couple of questions… I am running a 4s 850 mAh battery as a standalone power source for the armer, gimble, fan, camera and receiver. Do I still need the 25v 470uf capacitor and diode? If so what diode should I purchase? Last question, I would like to arm the 03 armer with my mt12, what is the pwm layout on your armer? Square = ground then power then signal? Thanks for your help! Awesome product!

Awesome to hear! I still recommend a cap and diode, there’s a ‘spike absorber’ from RushFPV that works just fine. And correct, square is ground, the center pin would be power (it’s actually not connected to the circuit at all) and then last pin is signal. Hope this helps! 🤙

Yes! The O4 Air Unit is directly compatible with the O3 Armer. The MSP signal is no longer required, but it still works perfectly as a plug-n-play solution for running an O4 and a fan (the ‘on/off/high power mode on a switch functionality’ also still works perfectly) 🤙

@@ChaddRainsFPV Sorry to reiterate the question, are you saying the o4 air unit can just have a battery and ground connection to transmit at full power? I am working on a capstone project for school and might not be able to use a flight controller to connect. We only need to transmit the camera signal to my goggles 3.

@@coltonmcomber8766 Yes, the O4 does not require an 'armed' signal to full output power, but you'll need to go into the goggles and turn off temperature protection. Hope this info helps!

@ are you sure that’s the same plug because I bought the o3 armer and it is too small. The plug looks just like the other one that look like that but are twice as big

@@Whip_ProductionsXT30 is the smaller plug, and that is the one used on the O3 Armer. Make sure not to get the XT60 by accident, that is larger. You’ll have to read the description of the battery you’re buying 🤙

It’s best to push air onto the VTX, though I did used to pull air off of the VTX.

Hi Chad, this is an awesome product. I got one, and it works fantastic on a 4S fixed-wing. Question: Is there any way to make this work for a 6S? I have larger EDF that are begging for this device.

The O3 Air Unit can be powered from 6s but it’s at the top of its voltage range. If it was in an RC car, the regenerative braking would cause a voltage spike that would fry the O3, for sure. Since you’re flying an edf, you may be able to get away with it but I’d recommend a separate 3s battery. You can add a 50v 470uf capacitor and a TVS diode and then try it on 6s, but I’d test it extensively before it goes in the air 🤙

The O4 Air Units are compatible with the O3 Armer! They do not require the arm signal to get full output power, but it’s still nice to have a zero solder, plug n play solution that also powers you fan 🤙

Hey mang! Just thought I would ask if I can adapt this system to run on a bat stand alone so I can have the car on my dog! Weird I know but yeah fpv from my dog! Yeah mang I have no budget ceiling- help me out! I am on to your wave with what goggles to get.. just not a wired setup.. I picture, cam, controller, antennas, battery. I got one and it works really well, only downside it gets real hot real fast just testing it on the bench. So I would like to connect the 3pins to my spektrum dx6 with a auxiliary channel set to a 3way switch 0% for off 50% on and 100% for armed, is this possible?

Not specifically, no. Check to see if you can activate yours via a PWM input (there are different versions iirc). Then you wire the signal from the vifly to one of the channels on the receiver ( I use channel 5 if available). From there I assign the switch I want for channel 5. When the switch is low there’s no alarm. When the switch is high it beeps. Hope this helps 🤙

Thanks man! I have a product called the O3 Armer. I use a separate 3s battery most of the time and I have rigs with and without gimbals. The HEQ gimbal is solid, but like all of them it needs some tweaks to run good on a car 🤙

@ If you’re using the older DJI goggles (the v1 or v2), that is correct. If you’re using the OG Air Unit on the latest fw, paired with the Goggles2 or the Integra Goggles, you will still need the arm signal.
