After a long elk season it’s finally Aaron’s turn to hunt elk but there’s only 2 days left in the season to get it done. With pressure from other hunters in this DIY public land hunt, Mike and Aaron decide to put all their eggs in one basket and chase the best bull they see on the mountain.
Make sure to subscribe to the Gunwerks KZbin channel for more great long shots, tough shots, shooting tips, DIY & Ballistics.

This is exactly what Wyoming guys like myself want to see. DIY public land challenges but also the beauty and the critters that can be had if you just do some leg work and get after it. Awesome job gang!

Bro, don't make excuses for the skeptics about how heavy your pack is or how far you hike to justify long range hunting. Whether you hunt from a truck, 10 miles in, shoot it at 30 yards or shoot something from a mile, I love that you guys do it your way and shooting stuff from long range is a challenge and it's fun. Anyone who says it's unethical needs to take a hard look at archery hunting and how many wounded animals that aren't recovered. You put it best when you said "it's a slippery slope." This channel got me into long range hunting and I love it. And because I love it, find it challenging, find it rewarding, I'm totally content regardless of what KZbin trolls, or so called "experts" think of it. Thanks for the content dudes.

Beautiful country. It does look like a lot of work, but I am 1000% certain it's worth it. If you're smart and stay safe so no one gets hurt, you will remember hunts like this forever. The tired and sore part goes away and just preps you for the next one. Congrats on the bull.

Good job guys! It’s not easy work. I’ve been working my way up to confidently trust my gear and myself to take some long shots. Doesn’t happen Over night. that’s how you end up with skeptics that failed once or twice then quit said it can’t be done. Put in your time and effort!

Love to see the gear and the skill to use it combine to make a successful hunt. Just plain fun to watch and I'll bet it was fun to be there. I wish you would share with us what the caliber and bullets you were using were. From a prior podcast I heard you on, I'm guessing a 6.5 PRC, but I couldn't tell.

The reason long range shots used to be considered unethical was because most shooters didn't have the ability to make them accurately with a quick kill and recovery. If you can (and you guys do), then it doesn't matter whether you shoot an animal at one yard or 1000 yards. Keep up the good hunts and good shooting!

Funny as hell you are talking about how far a hike and how hard the pack out will be on your back. So full of shttt - lol. Then you have the pack horses coming in next morning. All you did was gut it brother that is fine just call it like it is you two are marketing your long shots with your rifles--- I get it we get it the problem is 95 percent of hunters cannot shoot and kill ethically 730. Just don't say you had such a hard physical hut packing elk yourself when the horses are packing--- lol--- I am 51 and I have always packs myself and without a horse.

Great video -- BUT -- Every NIMROD out there thinks they can kill at that distance and that is a false. No one realizes the TRUE fact that if an animal takes a step at long distances - you just GUT shot or wound the animal and probably will never find it. Remember, hunting is getting closer and shooting is for ranges and competition. I hunt and get closer (less than 300 yards). Sometimes, I spook an animal and that is OK. You can't get closer if you don't try. please provide a comment back to me about bullet weights, retention and terminal performance at these long ranges and what happens when you just shoot with all these so called modern rifles. I make a ballistic buffalo out wet newspaper and carpet (see article on how to make one) for bullet weight, retention and terminal performance. I like how you promote everything. Please, provide information (new video) on terminal performance at these long distances. Set up a gel block and show the penetration (not just steel). Thanks See David Petzal (field & stream) magic bullets or google David Petzal ballistic buffalo
